Number 1 rated in Del Rio, you have to be kidding! Friendly family staff but extremely dated old motel. Wheezing AC unit could not properly cool, desk and one wobbly chair but no lamp. Quite dark inside but clean. Bathroom door didn’t fit properly, toilet was not fully secured to floor and was heavily water stained. Beds pushed flushed against walls, unusual. Pretty strong antiseptic smell.

This is a local motel, not a chain. The folks that run it are very nice. The lady at the desk was very helpful with suggestions for things to do in Del Rio. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was minimal, but they did have fresh fruit. There was only one chair in the room and the refrigerator had no freezer section. The parking area is OK for small cars, but there were several trucks out there that had a difficult time maneuvering.

Spotlessly clean room. Comfortable beds. Secure courtyard area for parking. Easy to unload car with parking by room. Microwave and frig in room. Very reasonable rate. Hotel is within easy walking distance of restaurants. Reservations always accurate. Owner is very pleasant. Our number one choice in Del Rio.

No reason to stay anywhere else in Del Rio. The hotel rooms are basic – very clean, no frills (unless you count fridge and microwave, and a small pool). The rooms are tucked into a single-entry courtyard, which floods with light at night for extra security. The biggest draw to this place, though, are the owners. Bob and Jodi are helpful, friendly and hospitable and will treat you like family (and let’s not forget Tiffany, the aging cattle dog who will insist on an ear scratch or two). During high season the courtyard can host barbeques, gatherings, and the like. The home-like courtyard and hotel setting has been home to large groups of venturing motorcyclists, concert-goers, etc during the busiest parts of its history. Bob and Jodi are available if you need anything, any time night or day. Bob knows Del Rio like the back of his hand (check out the Creek Walk – beautiful!) and knows Ciudad Acuña even better. If you’re taking a day trip to Mexico, he will be happy to talk you through where to go and what to do. We found Del Rio to be charming, friendly, and rustic - and Whispering Palms was the icing on the cake! 5-stars for the hotel, and even more for Bob and Jo – I can actually say I have friends in Del Rio!

I'm not really sure why this motel is as highly rated as it is. The room is extremely dated. I saw one review that mentioned remodeled rooms - I dont know where those were. The bed wasn't comfortable - not that it was uncomfortable just bleh. The air conditioning barely was able to keep up with the heat. All in all I was glad we only spent one night here.
