A great little motel that seems to attract a lot of international visitors. Really close to Golden Gate Bridge and some good eats nearby, including trendy bakeries and coffee shops. Room was spacious and clean and the balcony was a nice touch.

We booked this hotel not totally knowing what we were going to get - it's safe to say that when you get a great deal on a hotel you always wonder just what you are going to get. La Luna was a great option for not a lot of money, and was well located for easy access to touristy things.... More

I read the Trip Advisor reviews and I knew the hotel would be loud but I seriously underestimated how LOUD it would be. I can usually sleep through just about anything but this was shockingly loud. I could hear everything, people coughing in the parking lot, the lobby door opening and closing. The bed had a major indentation and I... More

Dear DameStella, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are located in such a wonderful, central part of SF that unfortunately noise is a consequence of that. Please accept our apologies regarding the noise. We appreciate your positive feedback about our service. Our staff is amazing and this is an area we know we consistently excel... More

I did not like the stay at this hotel that much. The room was very dark en old. On the floor were marks from an iron... I don't know how they came there. The lamps were broken and the doors were not that clean. The breakfast was poor, you only had choice between brown bread and Raisin bread. I would... More

Desk attendant was very nice. Room 205 (I think)was clean and roomy enough for myself, 2 teens and 3 very large suit cases as well as backpacks and other items. Step in shower (no tub/seat) with low water pressure but gets the job done with extra hair rinsing time of course. Breakfast was minimal with bread to toast, plain Cheerios,... More

La Luna is right on Hwy 101 the main route from Golden Gate south through San Francisco so if you want a peaceful nights sleep this is not the place for you. If you are driving it is easy to find though and gives easy access in and out of the city. It is about 1 km from the lovely... More

Floor/carpet is dirty; wish there was laundry on site; noisy if you are on Lombard side; quiet if you aren't; breakfast is okay-good fresh fruit, oatmeal, toast and cereal. Went out and came back at 9 pm-nowhere to park. We parked a few blocks over in a residential neighborhood. Had to move car by 10 am. Friendly service. No bathtub... More

My family stayed there for 4 nights. The staff was very helpful and when I asked for a room off the street, he was able to make it happen. It was a clean, comfortable room. No frills, but we spent a lot of time in the city so it wasn't an issue. We had trouble with hot water one night,... More

This motel is great for the price. It's a budget motel so don't expect anything fancy. It's clean and the wifi is great. Staff are friendly (aside from one member who was a little rude). The location is great - not far from the Golden Gate Bridge. However because it is located on a busy road, the noise of the... More

Been a difficult hotel to review. The location was good, and the person who initially checked us in very helpful – provided a map. However, the room itself was extremely dusty, small in serious need of an upgrade and loud with passing traffic. Would not recommend this hotel.. We did not complain as we knew no other rooms were available,... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
