Really expensive stay at over 350€ per night. - room is really old, bed in a bad shape, carpet is disgusting, wall paper is pealing, blinds are broken, furnitures are a mismatched - room is super dark, can’t get proper lighting - can’t get hot water in the morning to take a shower !! - have to ask every single day the front desk for the room to be cleaned up - breakfast isn’t worth the money by car - staff is indifferent at best But they have a cool fireplace 🤷
The Marker is the perfect San Francisco get away hotel. We love the character of boutique hotels but usually find we have to sacrifice room and cleanliness for character. Not so with the Marker! Room was spacious, clean and also full of character! The staff was so friendly and attentive. This is our new go-to hotel for San Francisco getaways!
This hotel routinely overbooks their rooms and then moves random people to a hotel miles away when they try to check in. It’s happened multiple times and they always say “we didn’t overbook, we flooded a room, here’s a room at a less nice hotel 2 miles away” with no other options. Literally false advertising. I booked this hotel because my meetings are in central SF and now I’m ubering back and forth every day. They overbook to make sure they max revenue out and then make you pay for it. DONT BOOK HERE.
The Salesforce TrailblazerDX was held in San Francisco, and I was looking for a place that was close by, and The Marker was a 10 minute walk. Contrary to the website, the rooms were a little dated, but it did have a nice old school feel. The rooms were a bit small, but functional. You have your bathroom with a tub and shower, mini fridge, closet and safe. There are a lot of good restaurants on the way to the Moscone center(where the convention was held). I also did have an issue with no hot water one morning when trying to take a shower. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they said they would look into it, and I did not have another issue afterwards. When you go outside, you will experience a lot of homeless in the area. I have witnessed people defacating on the sidewalks, even in front of the hotel. When you're walking, you may want bring an extra pair shoes in case you step on a human landmine(which I did). Overall, The Marker is in a decent location. Depending on your comfort level regarding safety when you are outside, I would still recommend staying here again as they are pet friendly, and a generally good location with regard to the city.…
Stayed here this last weekend and no hot water in multiple rooms even after brought to attention of front desk. Attached restaurant is short handed and overpriced. Hot chocolate $10. Honey honey cafe 1-block up street far better and Les expensive.
I had pretty low expectations of the Marker, based on reviews. I stayed here recently for a few nights. I would say it surpassed my low expectations, but I do not feel inclined to stay here again, and my search for a decent-quality San Francisco hotel continues. The room was relatively clean and spacious enough. Overall it needed renovation although the bathroom (though small) seemed like it must have been redone not too long ago. The room was somewhat depressing in that the window looked out on the next-door building and the lights in the room were very dim. A couple of minor problems during my stay: First, apparently when I checked in I was given the wrong room, and this led to the hotel shutting off my room key the next day. But they fixed this problem right away. Second, on my second night there somehow the heating/cooling system malfunctioned and the room got stuck at around 78/79 deg. F. I alerted the front desk to the problem the next morning, and it seems the problem was fixed very quickly. Location is convenient but seemed to be right on the border between a sketchy area and a less sketchy area. A fairly dirty area, but I guess this is typical of present-day San Francisco. I did not feel unsafe when walking around the area but I spent most of my time at meetings or away from the hotel area.…
We have been here for 3 days booked a corner junior suite. We were 1st shocked that the hotel was not looking at all like the pictures from their website. Everything here is like in the eighties from bathroom to furniture. Window must be single glass as you can feel the wind coming in. We are European so we don’t turn on AC (very noisy one by the way) so it gets chilly over night and the quilt are too light to be warm at night. When any other guest takes a shower or a bath in the hotel you have the impression that pipes will exploded in the wall and that makes so much noise that it will wake you up instantly. Obviously no money was put in this hotel for maintenance and a lot of it should be in order to make this hotel a nice place to stay at. Price are outrageous considering the service and quality of this hotel. The only nice/ helpful person in hotel is Fabio the manager whom trying to make you stay better considering the product he has to work with. It is a shame they don’t put money in as they could have a very nice product. Location is good and less unsafe that market street. Unless they improve the hotel and upgrade it will not stay here again and definitely not for the price they are asking. Checking hotel and their services is what I do for a living. Obviously too many thing to be unhappy about to recommend anyone to stay here.…
In general it is a great place to stay for 2 or 3 nights, room service was good and efficient, every morning you can have a "free coffee" and even you have a fitness center so well equipped. The main problems with our stay here were the area where is located (near to tenderloin area) and one of the man at front desk, he was decided to give us a poor service when we most needed (problem with one of our credit cards). Careful to go out at night in this area.
I stayed here for a business trip and booked based on reviews. I should have followed my gut and stayed at one of the other places i have been to previously when coming to SF. Checking in was a problem because their keycard machine was not working. After about a half hour of sitting in the lobby (with other guests who could not go to their rooms either) I got up and asked the young lady at the front desk. She immediately got very terse with me and told me that the people who could "fix" the machine were "in a meeting." My thought was "well get their butts out of a meeting so we can get keys and go to our rooms"! Guests first, correct? It was only after I suggested that someone from housekeeping or maintenance could take us to our rooms that we were finally brought up to our rooms. Even after all that, I had to call to the front desk to ask for a key, and it seemed like it was a total surprise that I was asking for keys. My room was "OK" - but just OK. The light in the entry does not work (switch is broken?), and the light on the desk does not work. I was told by one of the staff that maintenance would be up to take a look, but that did not happen. This hotel is in need of an update. Everything in the hotel feels pretty worn and tired. One thing that is out of the Marker's control is the quality of the area, and the number of homeless people that are around. Sorry, but I won't be back to this hotel on future business trips.…
The marker hotel in San Francisco is a quiet refuge in the storm of the city. It’s calm and quiet and beautiful and clean! My room was clean and cozy and the bed was so comfortable. The lobby is amazing with two beautiful fireplaces and a gorgeous staircase. The staff is accommodating, friendly, and kind. This will be my go to hotel from now on in San Francisco.
