This hotel is not convenient for anywhere. It is 9 blocks, ,10 mins from Union Square. It is on top of a steep hill so it is 20- 30 mins back. It is over 2 miles from the waterfront area with no direst public transport. Left on Sutter St it is at least 4 blocks to a restaurant. It is... More

This hotel was expensive and adequate. Our room was a king but was small and very dark. A fridge and tea and coffee making facilities were a plus. Apparently there was a convention on in the city so prices were high but prices are high in san fran generally. The hotel was in a great location and we walked to... More

We stayed here 3 nights before we embarked on our roadtrip around CA. Was a great way to start our trip, very good hotel. Staff were very friendly, certainly Gregory (hope I remembered his name correctly). He enjoys singing and like to make jokes with the guests. The location was good, we walked to Fisherman's Wharf passing Lombard St on... More

Stayed here for a business trip at the end of August. The hotel was very clean and updated and all of the staff members were very nice. The view from my room could have been better, it looked out into a court yard where they were doing some construction, no plants or anything but since I was there for business... More

This hotel was so nice, had so much character and was located in a perfect place, not too far from fisherman's wharf or union square! We only stayed here for 3 nights, which may I add was enough if you are only going to do sightseeing. Our room was on the 6th floor was the perfect place to stay, the... More

Just returned from a 3 nt stay. Reception staff are very friendly, particularly Geoffrey, he loves to sing. Still got some renovations to finish but didn't spoil the stay. Rooms are a good size and beds very comfy. Shower is superb. Tea and coffee facilities in room which is great, the only hotel to have this out of he three... More

I stayed for 5 days on a business trip, and I loved returning to the hotel each evening. Every staff member was kind, polite, and helpful. My bed was comfortable, and my room was quiet. Along the street were small cafes serving food from different countries, and it was just a quick walk to the top of Nob Hill to... More

Stayed for 4 nights this month with no prior knowledge of the hotel. Good location about 10-15 minutes walk from Union Square. Good restaurants walking down the road; Matador and Cesarios. Great sandwich shop 2 doors up. Also a pizza shop and convenience store beside the hotel. Some work being done in the lobby but we didn't hear any noise... More

This hotel is in a district called the Tenderloin (described in most travel guides as the worst district in San Fran) - this wasn't information we had when we booked but we quickly learned what it was like. We arrived in the middle of the night due to flight delays and felt incredibly uneasy as we unloaded our gear and... More

My son and I stayed one night. He is an exhausted high-school freshman, and I'm an exhausted teacher. So we pretty much slept the whole time we were here. The room is pretty, and the Hitchcock theme is understated, for those people who aren't film buffs. The windows have two layers. You can open both or just one, and they... More
