I stayed at the W Hotel on business for one evening. The hotel has typical W decor--modern furniture and art, somewhat flashy. Like all W Hotels, the public areas (lobby and hallways) have that low twilight lighting that I find unappealing, together with incessant techno music (including inside the elevators) that is far from relaxing, particularly first thing in the... My second time and both for business. As far as W Hotels go, not my favorite. It is comfortable enough and has that W modernism and mysticism. Main problem was that temperature in the faucet was not capable of being regulated. Living Room bar is not bad. Food was getting worse as the days went on. Concierge is not only... More

My wife and I booked a room at the W San Francisco for a much needed romantic escape. The hotel was exactly what we needed. Ideally located, we were able to walk to the Ferry building for morning coffee and breakfast before taking off to explore the city every day. We relied heavily on the hotel's excellent concierge service, W... More

Our experience at the W was wonderful. Thanks to Henry and the staff. We received room upgrade upon check-in which was a pleasant suprise. All the staff were extremely pleasant, great coffee and breakfast, our concierge was very helpful and we loved the tapas restaurant suggestion along with all other local tips. Truly a wow experience.

I've been using this hotel for years for business. It's changed for the worse lately. Pros: excellent bar staff. Great elevators. Nice bathrooms. Cons: staff doesn't put more effort into their jobs more than a forever 21 associate would. Takes at least an hour for room service. No appreciation for loyalty. PAINT THE BATHROOM SEE-THROUGH DOORS. Hookers in the bar... More

Back at the W San Francisco and again there were issues with cleanliness of the room. I've been staying at the W San Francisco for years while in San Francisco for business and was let down by finding crumbs that I was stepping on in room the first night, of which I notified the front desk the next morning to... Very upscale and modern hotel, fun and almost quirky. Very clean, comfortable beds and top of the line sundries. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, fresh and different. Employees to include valets and check in staff very pleasant. Cost of parking was high and not included the room, however the hotel is downtown so to be expected. Hotel is in... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here over the weekend and were very pleased with the experience. The staff was very kind and accommodating and the suite they upgraded us to had an amazing view. Definitely will come back for future visits.

Stayed here during conference at Moscone convention center- absolutely a perfect choice! Bar is trendy a great place to meet colleagues. The room was lovely with nice amenities. The gym was great and Bliss spa is in the building. A very convenient location for anyone attending conferences in SF and close to other shopping/attractions. Sara Hamza was very helpful with... We were originally booked into the W but due to circumstances beyond both our control & that of the hotel we had to switch and the hotel manager went out of his way to help us and for this reason it was a shame we couldn't stay but they made it possible for us to switch to the palace.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
