Cute and sexy. Nice accommodations for a quick stay in San Francisco. Located right near transportation, shops and eateries. The staff is amazing. A little pricey for what you get but its comparable to other places in San Francisco but not as cute. This is my go to spot whenever in San Fran.

Spot on, great location easy to get around San Franciscoeither by foot or public transport(tram, bus, hop on/off bus)4 ladies in one room with plenty of space. Maid's came every day, tea making facilities in the room, lovely staff, really couldn't fault the hotel, only problem we had was with loud music coming from a building over the road from us 2 of the nights, but that aside I would most certainly stay again x

Upon entering the”bar” to register, there is an awful pungent smell that actually burned my throat! It got a bit less as we went upstairs but, it was as if they tried to cover up a smell/ water/ mold issue. Overnight I began coughing and became congested. By 6am I had to call Hilton to find other accommodations. They were excellent, but The Barnes needs to look into remediation of this possible mold issue! I am prone to asthma and this could have put me into the hospital if I had stayed my 3 full days there. I should have checked out right away! Fighting before a health issue arose, would most likely have been a no win situation ; but now I’m suffering. I have every symptom of a mold reaction! My husband and I are very loyal Hilton Diamond and HGVC owners, never using anyone but Hilton. The new Collections of Hilton are all renovated in quaint cities but, MUST look at possible health issues Before renovating!! I am in healthcare and do know about this, as I have been involved with renovations that FIRST had to deal with remediations. PLEASE, beware if you have any health issues before staying at this lovely, quaint Hotel.

The hotel itself is located in an old building. This comes with all the pros and cons. We personally really liked the atmosphere but I guess it’s not for everyone. Beds were comfy, room small but bigger than expected given the location. Our windows went to the courtyard - which really exaggerates the size. The wall on the other side is like 3 m away. That means not much daylight and privacy if the curtains are open. But as we were only in the room to shower and sleep, this was no problem at all. On the contrary, it was nice dark and quiet at nighttime. We had breakfast at the hotel twice and found value for money quite good. The location at union square is perfect for anything you want to do in the city.

Wow, wow, wow! The Barnes is a hidden gem. Perfectly located on Powell St, it’s in an incredibly safe area. I arrived at the BART station from the airport and walked with my suitcase the short two blocks (less than 5 minutes) £- so easy. This is THE place to stay - on the famous tram street, central and safe. My welcome from Marian and Amarion at reception was amazing - so vivacious and helpful - including a great list of restaurant recommendations both walking distance and further away (Maru Sushi, Scomas’s Sausalito, Swan Oyster Depot). My stay was off to the perfect start. My room was 520. A massive room including 2 desks, large windows, great mirrors and a fantastic bathroom - lots of room, huge shower, great water pressure. All fully and recently renovated - really tastefully done. My sleep quality was great - comfortable bed, air conditioning and fan - and whisper quiet. The great thing about my room (and I think most rooms) is they face into a common internal quadrangle - so absolutely no street or tram noise. The hotel is walking distance from Macy’s, Trader Joe’s, multiple Walgreens in the event you are a shopper. I just loved wandering around and enjoying the vibe, trams, buzz. After dinner, I returned to the hotel for a nightcap - a nice vibe at the bar - and the burgers looked amazing! And a perfectly made gin and tonic! Security was top notch (but not needed) which made me feel safe. Wifi was fast and strong - no problem for a Teams call from my room. All rooms also have irons, ironing boards, hair dryers and good quality products (soap, body wash etc). And I had the pleasure of being welcomed by hotel manager Azucena during my stay - she clearly sets the bar for staff - warm, engaging and professional.

This place is old, tiny and non-functional. Definitely not up to Hilton standards. While some things have been cosmetically updated, there are more things needed. For example, chipped and slow draining tub. The bathroom was smaller than a cruise ship BR, with little room to stand, store anything and no countertop. There were no dressers, only one nightstand between two queen beds. We had to live out of our suitcases on the floor. Thank goodness the room and bed were clean.

I had to do a last minute reservation here as for whatever reason my original reservation at another hotel was magically canceled. In town for a conference and stayed here 4 nights. The overall experience was a mixed bag. The good- like the location on Powell street and next to Union Square, beds were comfy, font desk staff and bartenders were friendly and had good recommendations for dining etc. Happy hour from 4-6 at the bar every evening. Decent wine and beer selection. I was recognized as Honors Gold and got a $18/day dining credit. The Bad- it is an old, historic building and it shows. Hallway carpets have a weird funky smell. Floors creak and some of my room lights did not work. Infact, I had to switch rooms at 2 AM as my smoke alarm battery started chirping!! Windows were extremely dirty and could barely see out, so just keep the blinds shut. The lights and AC settings/control were not user friendly imo. Breakfast in the morning was OK; small buffet set up with mostly cold items. There are better breakfast places within walking distance. It was an OK stay and there are definitely better hotels all around. I dont think I will come back here for another stay.

The staff were really helpful and we got a room upgrade. The Junior suite was really comfortable, beautifully presented, with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The only issue was that the sliding bathroom door was sticking / would not close. The breakfast was very limited for the price with better deals locally. The location of the hotel was brilliant, in a safe area with plenty around it. Very easy public transport links. As the hotel has recently been taken over by Hilton, then many rooms were under-going renovation so older reviews might be out of date.
