I enjoyed my overnight stay at this boutique hotel. The room I was assigned was very quiet and felt so cozy. I was able to really rest and recover afer traveling. Gem, the front desk agent, made my check in experience and stay so positive. She shared tips about how to move through the crowds since I had to leave the next day. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family and stay again. The hotel was also located near Union Square and was easy to find.

I was a little worried about booking at a place that didn't seem to have a regular lobby and check in area. However, I am so glad I decided to go for it! There's a reason this place has such great reviews! I loved my stay there. You definitely don't miss the "typical" hotel experience because there is always someone on site to help you with any questions, and there are sitting spaces to relax, drink your coffee, and take in the city scape, sounds, wind, and/or mingle with other guests. We loved our room! It was beautifully decorated, private, and felt a lot like a boutique european hotel. This will be my place to stay anytime I visit SFO. Will be headed that way in about a month, and will be sure to book here. All the staff were super friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

The Inn at Union Square provided a charming getaway for an awesome weekend. It’s a super adorable little hotel with great perks- there’s morning coffee, a filtered water dispenser, robes in the closet, and even an umbrella in case of inclement weather (how thoughtful!). The code system was easy to use and allowed us to come and go as we pleased, and the staff couldn’t have been more kind or accommodating (extra nod to Gem for being such a gracious host). It was quiet, clean, so cute, and in basically the best location for ease of getting around the city. We loved every minute of our stay and are looking forward to coming back soon.

Pros: The place is conveniently located, the premises very clean! Bed was comfy! Jorge & Gem very welcoming and accommodating! We will come back when staying in Union Square. Cons: keypad entry, however we were told they are returning to cards. No water in room, the ceiling fan needed a little more juice.

A beautiful boutique hotel with ultra clean furnishings and beautiful appointments in our upgraded room. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, the walk in shower powerful and the lithographs and pages from the Georgetown University Hoya Newspaper gave the facility a sense of quiet grace. Jorge and the guest staff could not have been more accommodating. We could not have enjoyed our stay more

The Inn at Union Square is an excellent place to stay in San Francisco. Just make sure your expectations are framed appropriately for what the property it is. It is not a traditional hotel experience in that there is no front desk, however it is definitely not an Airbnb given that it provides daily housekeeping service. The property LOOKS like a hotel once you're up on the floors, and my room was immacuately clean, reasonably sized for 1-2 guests, and overall styled nicely. A hair dryer, bathrobes, and basic toiletries were all provided, along with plenty of towels. I have stayed in a few hotels since the pandemic began, and this was the first time I have had my bed made up and towels changed in the "new normal" - I appreciated the service! I was also grateful that I could store my luggage for a few hours on the day of departure. I called "0" from my room phone and the daytime manager met me to take my bags, and then brought them to the front door when I came back later and called again. Generally the property was quiet (in fact, they have quiet hours from 9 pm - 9 am). I did hear somebody sneeze a couple times in an adjacent room, but that was no big deal. Do note that that this property is entirely online check-in and you do not receive a physical key, only a key code that works on the front and room door. Prior to my arrival I received an email from the property (via Expedia) with instructions for online check-in. I suggest completing check-in before your arrival and storing your key code and room number in an easily accessible place so that you aren't fumbling with logging in to the online guest portal while standing at the front door. Once you get inside the building, there isn't anybody at a desk to show you to your room, this is why you want to know your room number going in. I found my room number by logging into the guest portal, there was a banner across the top of the portal page that stated "Superior Queen 603" - meaning room 603. Overall the check-in and access worked very smoothly, you just want to be prepared for the contact-free experience.

This is a perfectly fine hotel if you dont plan on spending much time in the room. It's literally steps away from Union Square, super clean and has everything you need in a decent sized room. Nice TV, plenty of room and amenities in the bathroom, fluffy pillows. Downsides: our windows had a view of a brick wall, so it was almost difficult to tell if it was day or night outside. The all-digital check in situation was fine, though I was a little baffled since I didn't get a room number and wasn't told the access code worked for the room door as well as the front door until a guy popped out of the room out back on the first floor (guessing there were some cameras to observe the lobby). Narrow hallways, cramped common area. But hey for $135 with taxes in the middle of SF, I"m not complaining -- particularly since I booked direct after they matched the deals I was finding online.
