We came to visit San Francisco. We picked the Fairmont because of its central location to the city. This is a fancy hotel. It is not good for families. I would not stay here again. We are a family of 4 with a 13y/o and a 11y/o. It is clean but stuffy. There is no real breakfast to speak of. There is no convenient place to pick up a hot cup of coffee, danishes or muffins.
I selected this hotel as it was perfectly-place for a Book Signing Event... My view of Alcatraz, San Francisco Bay and Beyond were nothing-short-of Spectacular. But where the 'Rubber Meets`the`Road' for me was in the service levels by the team who work here. Even the Bellman has a history to share-there! And that wonderful lass behind the front desk, 'pinkie-promised' not to tell a single soul about my leaving my ammenities kits at the last hotel! She kindly topped me up with toothbrush, shave gear and other items I'd left behind in my wake... I'm up at 5 am every day to write, and I set up my laptop-nest in the massive lobby, surrounded by fabulous memorabillia of the Hotel, it's famed guests and more...
After several previous stays, this was indeed the best experience. S service was flawless from start to finish. The suite upgrade exceeded our expectations with spectacular views of downtown and the bay. Breakfast on the balcony was divine. Dining and drinks at Laurel Court were very classy. Activity advice from Mr. Wolf never disappoints. The man's knowledge of the bay area is encyclopedic. All the staff we encountered provided 5-star service. Thank you for a job well done Fairmont San Francisco.
Beware you will be charged on top of your booking when you leave the hotel. It’s 80 per day for parking. If not you have to find another parking $50 a day. They charge for everything in this hotel!!!!
Fairmont is a beautiful hotel. The size of the rooms and closets were great. Very friendly staff. The room service was very timely and had great food. The same goes for the restaurant and a fun Tikki bar downstairs.
our son lives a 5 minute walk away great place to stay and visit him and his wife we were upgraded to the view of alcatraz love getting a drink poured by elias in the hotel bar he sings "yo no se manana" so well
I was granted an early check-in which was appreciated. The staff were friendly and professional. However, the sound proofing of the room was non-existent. Between the noise from adjacent rooms (loud snorer on one side, young children on another) and from the hallway, I barely slept (and I’m not a light sleeper). I would not stay here again based solely on that. The mini bar was not stocked and room service delivered my beer without a bottle opener (because apparently my empty bar fridge was supposed to have one). Not what I would expect from a Fairmont, especially given the nightly rate I paid.
I have loved the Fairmont for years. I live in Santa Cruz and used to visit regularly. On January 24, I spent the night as I returned from London and wanted some 'city time' . My experience was strange and made me sad. The building is still beautiful and my check in went smoothly. But it was downhill from there. There was no vanity kit and no shower cap in my room. I was very tired and was going to go out to dinner at 7, so had planned to shower, nap and then go out. When I called down for a shower cap, I specifically asked that if they could not bring it right away, they should bring it after 7:00. The person on the phone agreed. Then, just after I dozed off 20 minutes later, the doorbell rang! AND the fellow had no shower cap on his cart anyway! I went out to dinner and when I returned and got in to bed noticed a rip in my bottom sheet! In the morning I saw dust accumulated on the baseboard by the bedside table! It was so thick it looked like hair! The manager was nice enough when I told him but it was just not a good experience. I don't think I will go back.…
The Fairmont is a very classy hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco. The entire staff is more than helpful to tourists to make their stay enjoyable. We had a Signature Corner Suite on the 18th floor. The views were spectacular. There was a telescope in the room but wasn't operational. Nevertheless we enjoyed leaving our drapes opened so we could view the fantastic cityscapes. On our first day we managed to walk from the hotel to Fisherman's Wharf. Downhill was no problem as you were ushered down the walkways through China Town & Little Italy which was an enjoyable experience. For our return to the hotel we opted to use the Cable Car system which was another experience for us to endure. The Fairmont / San Francisco was a wonderful classy place to stay.
The Fairmont is my 2nd home in San Fran. I visit once a year in January to celebrate my deceased parents wedding anniversary. They were married on Jan 6, 1943 at Old St. Mary’s Church in Chinatown. Had their honeymoon cocktail at Top of the Mark. My only brother and I stayed in 1999, 3 months before he died from cancer. So yo7 can see it is very special to me.
