The Opal is convienuently located in a central location, close to Fisherman's Wharf, museums, driverse restaurants, and the historic Fillmore. Great value with it's charming, clean rooms with secure overnight parking availablr. Friendly knowledgeable staff was a plus. Claudia, Roger, and Marnie were especially helpfully but everyone was welcoming. We'll be back.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel and was very pleased at the amenities for such a great price. I stayed here for a milestone birthday and will return on any future trips to San Francisco. It is a great location, having a bunch of cool places in the area but also is a short bus ride to Fishermans Wharf or a...

The opal is located very centrally and absolutely easy to get to. They offer reasonable rates (always considering that San Fran isn't cheap), have an average but consistent continental breakfast and stellar customer service. The front desk folks were always willing to help and give any information I might have while being calm and courteous. The rooms are basic but...

To have a place that's clean and central to the Van Ness area, this is a solid 3-star hotel. The decor is outdated, the rooms are not very spacious and the amenities are sparse (e.g., no fridge or room safe). But the bed is decent, the TV works and you're close by to the movie theater, Mel's Diner, Japantown, City...

I love this hotel! I stayed here when I was in town for Outside Lands a few months ago. It was prime location and loved the vibe of the hotel. The lobby is beautiful with stained glass and the decor is more of a classic feel. Had to come here again and some of the rooms are a bit updated...

Situated on Van Ness Avenue, Highway 101, the Opal is easy to find if you've hired a car or on public transport. A great location for walking around the centre of the city - Painted Ladies, Fishermans' Wharf, etc and there are easy to catch buses and trains. Breakfast sufficient, didn't try the restaurant/diner next door but there are other...

The exceptional price difference between the booking rate and final charge was a bit of a shock. %16 taxes should be included in the booking and the $46 parking charge was not mentioned when I was given the pass. The room had a VERY strong odor, air freshener or cleaner used to excess. Could not open the windows.

I do apologize about the issues you encountered upon check out. The taxes are really beyond are control and only factored in upon check out. We can give you an estimate but upon making a reservation, we do notify guests of the "plus taxes" that will come with the room. In regards to the parking, I am sorry if the...
