We decided to stay at Hotel Zephyr because it seemed to be the best value for a good hotel in San Francisco. The value still wasn't great (over $250/night with taxes and fees), but the location was good. Our room faced the courtyard and we decided to sleep with the patio door open. In the morning, the room reeked of petroleum fumes, seemingly from the multiple fires in the courtyard below. I'm not just being a complainer. It really stank. We mentioned it to the staff on the way out, but they didn't seem to care. Overall, they seemed pretty unfriendly, slow, and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
We picked this hotel because of its's location and weren't disappointed. One block from Fisherman's Wharf, Big Bus depot around the corner, cable car and trolley buses one block away. Room was comfortable with everything you would want. King bed was one of the best we had in 4 weeks in the US. Restaurants, bakeries, cafes, Madame Tussauds, Pier 39 were all within a couple of blocks. Dollar Rent-a-Car right across the road. It was relatively expensive but so was everything in San Francisco when we booked. Reception staff at check-in were very helpful
Overall clean, simple experience. The courtyard area was very fun and doors pits were a nice touch. Very easy to hear outside (and upstairs) noise at night with no capacity to turn air conditioner/fan on. Close to many of the tourist attractions.
Across the street from Pier 39. The staff were friendly, helpful and answered all of our questions. The room was clean, a bit small but we weren't in our room very long. Very family friendly hotel, especially with game room (pool table, ping pong, shuffle board, etc, giant connect four game). Given the location, the value of the room was exceptional. Highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay on Fisherman's Wharf.
Stayed here March 2020. What a great hotel. Staff were so helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and had all the sort of stuff you like to see when get there. Coffee, Cable TV, aircon etc. The courtyard area was brilliant. I saw the photos of it on the site before I made the booking and it didn't appeal particularly, but the photos do not do it justice. It's funky and fun. Basically right at the heart of Fisherans Wharf, this place is for you. (The Hop on Hop off buses start their run from just around the corner). Highly recommended hotel.
