After waiting for more than a half-hour for the bellman to deliver my luggage (after 2AM in the morning), I wanted to have some room service. But, oh no, the hotel does not have room service! This hotel should make it clear on the website that it has no room service. I would not have made a reservation knowing that. I stayed for 4 nights. There is nothing good about this hotel other than the convenient downtown location. I was supposed to get a king room with a sofa bed, but I was given a room which seems to be about 70% of the standard king room, located in a corner, adjacent to a huge room (which may be a suite). No sofa bed either. I reserved 3 months ahead. The door did not open easily (you need to push the doorknob hard to make it open using the card). I thought about complaining, but did not, as I did not want to wait another hour or so to move the room. The breakfast buffet had two tiers— a “cold” continental buffet for $30 and a hot buffet for $40 (what a joke). I was not excited about shelling out $40 for breakfast and chose the cold buffet, which was horrible. It was not much different from free breakfast offered in Hampton Inn. From the next day, I went to a deli called Barbary Coast close by and got a nice croissant sandwich and a great tasting coffee for $9. This place has no business of calling it a Hilton chain—or maybe Hilton brand is going downhill (I am an HHonors member).

My husband and I arrived here after a rather bumpy flight from New York, so were feeling a bit tired, grumpy and stressed when we arrived. The reception area is nicely decorated and we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist (I believe her name was Winnie) she was professional, helpful when we asked questions and so cheerful. We instantly felt better after talking to her. The room was fantastic (1801) light, bright and clean. This room is a corner room so you have 3 windows in the main bedroom area offering great views, a dressing room and a large bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and was definitely welcomed after long days exploring San Francisco. We didn't eat at the hotel, not because we didn't want to - the menus to all the restaurants looked good - we just ran out of time. The location is also very good, very close to Union Square, where you can get trams, trains or buses to anywhere you want to go. Or you can walk to almost anywhere, just keep in mind that San Francisco is hilly! Also very close lots of shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in San Francisco and would happily stay here again. Thank you for a great holiday!

Parking prices are outrageous and the rooms have no USB ports. Consider finding another parking garage for half the price. Other than that, it’s a wonderful hotel, clean, modern decor and great location.

Emily, Thank you for the wonderful review. We're glad you enjoyed our new texting service. We are constantly looking for ways to expand our services for guests, especially with new and emerging technology like digital keys and virtual concierge. We're also truly appreciative of your remarks on our Cable 55 restaurant and dining credits. We'll certainly pass all of your remarks on and let our team know how much their dedication affects guest stays. Thank you again and we hope you get another opportunity to visit us in SF.

My husband and I stayed here 3 nights. The location is very good for shopping and sightseeing as SF is a very walkable city. We walked about 6 miles each day, exploring the area. There is a Trader Joe's nearby too for snacks etc... Check in took quite a long time, there were only 2 other people ahead of us but seemed like only 1 person out of the 3 other people behind the check in desk were actually checking anyone in. As a diamond member she said we were upgraded to a corner room. When we got to our room there was a horrendous smell, we tried to tolerate it and stayed in there for about 10 mins but we really couldn't take it. It smelled as though someone had just vomited in the room and maybe housecleaning tried to shampoo the carpet. I went to request a new room, had to wait again, this time it seemed like 2 people were checking people in even though I saw at least 4 people behind the check in desk, bizarre. When I told her about the smell she apologized and said she could move me but to a smaller room, I said fine so long as it was not smelly. In the end she did find me a similar room that was clean and fresh. Breakfast was pretty standard Hilton buffet, my husband always gets the hot breakfast and he liked the made to order omelet he chose as well as the other hot buffet items. The hot buffet also had Chinese breakfast items such as porridge and items to put in the porridge. Again we had to wait for a long time to be seated for breakfast each morning. So 3 times in a row - the first time I thought, ok but then the other times it just seemed like they don't have people assigned to the correct areas to help guests. The first day there was 1 couple ahead of us buying a cafe breakfast to go - they took a really long time, switching items, trying to decide etc.... The hostess could have called over someone to seat us while she helped the couple. The second day one family ahead of us, the hostess went to seat them and then disappeared for a bit before returning to seat us. The last day no one was at the hostess stand - we had to wait for someone to show up after waving down one of the servers. Again, bizarre, the concierge desk is right next to the hostess stand but neither of them offered to call someone over. Finally I did let the hotel know we were celebrating both our anniversary and a birthday - and it was the first time taking a short vacation without our children in a while. It would have been nice for management to acknowledge the special occasion/s in some way.
