This place was so bad, we turned around the once to got to the room, talked to the manager, and got our reservation canceled. We tried to be open-minded about the exterior, hopeful that the inside would be updated. The first clue should have been riding up the elevators that smelled like fish and grease. When we got to our room, there were crumbs of food all over the couch, as if the room hadn't been cleaned or someone snuck in and ate their sandwich and wiped it on the couch. The hotel is severely dated and not clean. I do appreciate how management handled our reservation cancellation on the spot. But, I would strongly recommend never staying at this property. Tourist or not, who cares that it's close to the Wharf.

Dear 621nikig, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Our team is saddened to hear of your experience. The room that you were checked into had an issue related to a water leak in the ceiling. Earlier in the day, the room was cleaned to standard. Unfortunately, with the large storms that have hit California, a leak developed over the sofa. Our maintenance immediately began repairing the issue with the leak the next morning. We inspected the elevators and could not find the smell that was reported. It may have been someone that was carrying either sea food or something that smelled like fish on the elevator right before you got on. We are happy to see that the manager on duty was able to assist you quickly. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We appreciate you, and hope that you will return and give our team another chance. Kindest regards,

Hands down dealt with the worst customer service ever. I wish I got her name but the Asian gal at the front desk is exactly who you DON'T want working for you. Zero tact and rude. I cancelled and left before I could get her name. This hotel will never see any of my money with people like her working there.

Dear jasonmallaround12, We thank you for submitting a guest review. While it is never pleasant to see that one of our valued guests experienced issues during their stay, we are committed to improving our service and accommodations for all of our guests. On behalf of the hotel, I, sincerely, apologize for any inconvenience caused. I assure you that we will follow up with the Front Desk agent. Normally she is very engaging and hospitable. We are surprised to hear of this interaction, and will definitely share this with her to improve upon our service. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We hope that you will return and stay with us again in the not too distant future. Kindest regards,

Close to Fisherman's Wharf and trolleys. Marriott superb comfort in bedroom. Staff pleasant. Walking distance to lots of sights. Breakfast was available but too expensive esp. With Canadian dollars. Just usual american breakfast fare.

We stayed at the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf for an end of the year trip in San Francisco. It has a superb location- close to Fisherman’s Wharf and all of its attractions, but also has easy access to Downtown San Francisco (the bus to downtown stops right in front of the hotel.) The Marriott is pleasant, inviting and well maintained. As with a lot of large West Coast cities, San Francisco has a homeless problem. While the homeless were in our neighborhood, the hotel took extra precautions to keep us safe to wit: they required a room key to access the public restrooms in the lobby and to use the elevator. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Considering it was in a busy part of San Francisco, it was also quiet. This Marriott has even reinstituted daily maid service. The parking valets, desk clerks and the super helpful concierges, were all top notch. But nobody is perfect. There is no pool and they charge for Wi Fi. In addition, since we got caught up in the Southwest Airlines debacle, we had to drive to San Francisco and pay the Marriott’s confiscatory valet parking fees. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf and would return.

We spent a 3rd generation belated Xmas vacation. It was a very clean hotel, everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. I would like to give a shout out to Jennifer who helped us book travel plans there, she would wave at us and ask how our trips were. The host at breakfast was amazing. The housekeepers were amazing, I wasn't expecting service every day. The rooms were above clean. The gentlemen outside said hello every day and welcomed is back like they meant it. I felt that we were close to everything we wanted to see. I like this brand because I feel like at times you pa for what you get and it has yet to disappoint me. I wish there was a pool or you could use the Marriott next door for those amenities but breakfast was great etc. Thank you for a wonderful time

I stayed during a busy healthcare conference week, so paid over $1000 per night. The hotel room was normal but the bed sheets were stained with a yellow thing, so I had to remove them from the bed. I received a coupon for breakfast as a platinum elite member, but refused breakfast when I showed up 5 minutes before the close of the buffet. All in all, I agree it was a good location for tourists, but the experience was very bad especially for the exorbitant price they charged.

There are many hotels in SF to choose from but if you want a great location convenient to all of the tourist areas then this is a good place to stay. the breakfast is pretty good actually. the rooms are not luxurious of course but most quick stays here would be fine. convenient to little italy, lombard street, the ferry to alcatraz, cable car stop and wharf.

We stayed there for one night during a trip along the West Coast. So the location is nice, you can visit Golden Gate and Waterfront but also can take the train to Downtown SFO. Rooms are nice, clean and sufficient for what you need. Service was nice and hotel offered what you want to receive. Only negative point is the parking. As they only offer valet parking - the overall rate is a bit too high

Response from Tim Howard, General Manager at San Francisco Marriott Fisherman's Wharf
Responded Dec 11, 2022
Hello Rainer, Thank you for your review of our hotel. We appreciate that you found our hotel's location ideal for sightseeing. We apologize that with our physical limits of space, Valet parking is our only offering for our guests. Alternately, we recommend any of the three public garages within two blocks of our hotel. We are very pleased to know our team of associates met your expectations. We hope that you would consider staying with us again if your travels bring you back to San Francisco!
