We went to San Francisco for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We liked the location of this hotel and assumed the quality of the stay would be great since it’s a Four Seasons. We weren’t disappointed! The staff were incredible. They were kind and attentive. The room itself was beautiful. The views were gorgeous. Highly recommend!
We’ve been regulars at the other Four Seasons on Market [outstanding hotel!] for 8 years. Now that Four Seasons has taken over this property as well [was a Mandarin, then Loews] we decided to give it a try. We weren’t disappointed. Location: terrific with spectacular views. Hotel is top 11 floors of a 48 story building. Convenient to Embarcadero, Chinatown, BART, and amazing restaurants [Yank Sing, Mr. Ju’s, Piperade, Kokkari] Quieter neighborhood than the Market St FS. Gym: standard hotel gym. [Note Market FS guests have free access to that building’s Equinox,. But there is an Equinox across the street from this hotel, and a Planet Fitness less than a block away. Staff: everyone is so helpful, kind, and efficient. From doormen who let our daughter park and visit, cheerful front desk, outstanding housekeeping, security who organized the freight elevator relays when passenger elevators broke down. Rooms: spacious with spectacular views of Bay Bridge, SalesForce, Coit & TransAmerica towers. Well laid out, plenty of workspace, outlets, minibar, coffee maker, and hot pot to make tea, well stocked with coffee pods and teas. Terrific bathrooms have 2 sinks, walk in shower and full sized bath with a view. Housekeeping did an absolutely awesome job – remembering everything each day keeping the room in check-in condition [don’t forget to tip the hardest working folks in the hotel :) Checkout was fast and bill was mostly accurate, but they forgot 1 mini bar charge so I’m expecting a revision email. Downside: Hotel was designed with only 2 elevators for I’m guessing north of 150 rooms. So even when both are working you have to budget in some wait time at peak periods. And they both failed twice during our visit. Staff was outstanding: seemed like all hands on deck organizing relays on the single set of freights that required a maze like walk and elevator change somewhere around the 30th floor. We considered it a bonus backstage tour, but luckily we didn’t miss any appointments, reservations.…
Excellent location. Spacious and modern rooms. Great in room dining. Restaurant and breakfast area was brilliant with great staff. Lacks a lounge feeling to the bar area. That makes it more of a business hotel than a relax and chill hotel. But a very good overall experience.
There are two Four Seasons branded hotels in San Francisco. One is on Market Street in a lousy area. It’s just ok, more of a nicer Marriott than a true Four Seasons. The developer was expecting the neighborhood to gentrify, but it has yet to do so. The second is the Four Seasons Embarcadero (which is really not located anywhere near the Embarcadero) in the office building at 345 California in the heart of the Financial District. Four Seasons renovated the hotel after a series of operators (Mandarin Oriental and Loews) let their contracts expire. The hotel, which takes up the 38-48 floors, is a blessing for people conducting business downtown. It’s the only high-end property in the area. We had a premium suite. The triangular configuration of the room made for some awkward furniture placements, but the Golden Gate to Bay Bridge view was an absolute joy. Service was sharp and professional, what you would expect from a Four Seasons product. There are some areas that could use some improvement: the fitness center has some fairly elderly or outdated equipment — the hotel would be better off converting the space to meeting rooms and making a deal for access and use of the Equinox gym across the street. The second floor restaurant is closed but should be returned to its prominence as one of “the” places to meet for business lunches (as it was in the past). The existing downstairs is just ok; its menu could be refined with a less “bar food” focus. The hotel car is limited to a 1.2 mile radius, which makes it far less useful to most guests since the radius excludes most things one might want to do in the city. All in all, its a terrific alternative for people wanting to be in Downtown San Francisco. It’s a jewel in the sky.…
It’s always such a pleasure to stay at Four Seasons and this property does not disappoint. The team here are spot on, rooms are large and the view - WOW! Thank you all for such a lovely stay. You really made our trip to San Francisco.
I just spent a few days last week in the NEW Four Seasons at Embarcadero. From the moment i arrived i felt so very welcome, like i do at all Four Seasons. The staff is amazing and the rooms and suites are incredible with some of the best views of the city. Can't wait to return.
It’s been almost a decade since this hotel was a Mandarin and in its prime, then it sold to Loews, then to Four Seasons, and hopefully Four Seasons can restore it to its former glory, thankfully they have renovated but it still has a lot of work ahead of it. The hotel restaurant was named Silk when it was Mandarin, now long closed, the hotel just has a small bar area for dining, it’s in need of a five star proper restaurant. The hotels elevator situation is not ideal, only two elevators. It’s a great hotel, but lots of improvements have to made to bring it to a $500.00 and up a night hotel. oh and didn’t four seasons say they would open a bar/lounge on top floor of this place? Did that fall by the wayside?
I would call this hotel a 4 star hotel not 5 star. Definitely don’t book this hotel through Amex travel since you will not get any services you usually get in other hotels and not worth the price at all.
First, the views at this place are amazing and unmatched! Next the the hotel staff and service people are friendly, and attentive. Rami our waiter in the dining downstairs was amazing, professional, and caring. My husband and I had a beautiful stay and will definitely return!
