Made reservation through Fine Hotels & Resorts, thinking it would be a nice hotel. The FHR program includes breakfast for 2 and $100 food and beverage credit. Upon check-in, I was notified that all the restaurants were closed and hadn't opened back up since Covid lock down (stayed there late May 2022). Therefore, I would have to order my breakfast for room service delivery to the room. The hotel room was dreary, outdated and small. The bed sagged in the middle and was extremely uncomfortable. When I asked why the restaurants weren't open, they replied "because our guests haven't requested they open." Hmmmm.
I received zero correspondence in writing about my medication that was stolen as I asked. This was handled poorly and I filed a police report. My schedule 1 prescription was stolen and the night staff was very helpful but once the morning manager was there, I was made to seem like I was lying. I'm absolutely furious, if you stay here use a safe...
The hotel is very average... Think Sheraton buy not as nice. Not quite a 4star property. Our room had a view of a wall. Good location in Union Square. No restaurant is open for breakfast, only option is room service. I will not return.
Booked with AmEx Fine Hotel & Resort Program. Front desk was not familiar with details. When I called for late check out they said it was noon even though the AmEx program guarantees 4pm late checkout. Restaurant is closed for breakfast and lunch - only room service. Breakfast was good. Lunch options are only a club sandwich and a veggie curry as entrees. So difficult to spend $100 property credit unless you plan to eat there for dinner, which is not a great option given the options in the city. So to use the $100 credit, I kindly asked to buy three half bottles of champagne to use the $100 credit. Sadly after leaving the hotel I opened the bag to find three half bottles of cheap chardonnay.
The hotel is very nicely located close to Union Square. The staff are extremely courteous and hospitable. Very Nice and spacious rooms. The staff were wonderful and gave some nice tips about things to do around the area. Would love to return here if we visit SF again.
My husband and I love staying at the Taj Campton Place when we visit San Francisco. After living in San Francisco for 20 years, we chose this hotel for our visits back to the Bay Area! We prefer smaller hotels with attentive staff and the Taj fits these categories perfectly! The location is excellent for getting around the city and the rooms are all comfortable and excellently appointed!!!!
Lovely experience with very comfortable beds and great amenities. The robe was plush and the wifi great for working from the hotel room. All staff were courteous, professional and helpful. Great location near to shopping, art galleries and some good restaurants.
So much to love about this hotel, location, comfortable beds, attention to detail, morning coffee in the lobby, cozy bar, well equipped fitness room, but most importantly all staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. From the moment we drove up the Tony, the valet efficiently took our car, George at the front desk was able to give us the perfect room, the accommodating and kind bartender in the Bistro, Erwin, the doorman who helped with our Uber pick up for dinner and also loaded the luggage and helped us with departure. Absolutely a lovely, lovely staff. I am also so appreciative of the attention to detail in the rooms, the throw on the bed, luxurious linens, Nespresso coffee makers, tea kettle, extra masks and sanitizer, etc. etc. Given the labor shortages and the decline in customer service due to the pandemic it is so nice to experience such a high level of service. We felt pampered and taken care of. We have stayed previously at the SF Ritz and Four Seasons, but when in SF, Taj Campton is our new home base.…
I have stayed at many of the AMEX Fine Hotel Collection hotels. I was excited to try the TAJ brand. I was disappointed. The doorman was great!! He was welcoming, funny and very engaging with all guests. The front desk staff made me feel as though I was not very valued. I felt as though I were inconveniencing them by being there. The "amentities" were not up to what I expect from a member of the AMEX Fine hotel collection. A few examples, in lieu of free breakfast they offered us each $16/daily for breakfast(room service only). I was able to see on the menu that there were a few choices under $16 but that is before they add on a delivery charge, charge for plates, flatware, glasses, etc and not to mention a TIP. I booked 2 rooms and our other room ordered breakfast on our last day and there total was $76! If you didn't want room service they had a plate of muffins near the elevator and you could grab one on your way out. There was an ice bucket in our room but absolutely no where to get ice. We called down to the front desk to see where ice machines were located and were placed on hold for 15 minutes before we finally hung up. My husband went down to front desk and he said staff looked perplexed when he asked for ice. Front desk staff took our ice bucket and said that someone would bring ice up shortly. Of course you have to tip so we essentially had to pay for a small bucket of ice. We also received a food and beverage credit which we planned on using for some drinks after a day of exploring only to find out that we needed business casual clothes to enter bar. Since we didn't have any business casual clothes left for our trip we unfortunately were not able to use our credit. Again we could have used it for food but with all the upcharges for room service we decided against it. DON'T even get me started on the SUPER SLOW wifi. Being that room was booked through AMEX I should have gotten their premium wifi. If that is their premium wifi, I hate to see what their "regular" wifi is. Super disappointing as we were trying to share photos with our friends who were travelling with us. We didn't use housekeeping services, but room was clean when er checked in.…
This has been the worst rip off experience I have endured in a long long while. Beware the hotel doesn’t have a breakfast restaurant, the service is terrible and they charge extra fees for everything. Best thing about it, they don’t tell you at all… YOU HAVE TO ASK!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
