Really more of a 4.5 with the only drawback being absurdly expensive parking. Been a Diamond member for more than 10 years. Stayed at hundreds of Hilton properties and this is a good one. Rooms are clean and good size for a city known for small hotel rooms. Great location with tons of great restaurants all around. Staff was attentive and helpful. Location is within walking distance of most of what you’d want to do as a tourist. Don’t even attempt parking in this town. Just walk or Uber. Tips: Always become a rewards member, get the app and do online check in and select a room farthest from the elevators at the end of the hall. Highest floor you can get. This helps with noise. SF has a ton of car break ins and the police will do nothing. Best to park as low in the parking deck as you can and leave NOTHING in the car.…
Location, location, location!! This hotel is located in the central of Financial District, close to Chinatown and Little Italy and short walk to Embarcadero or Montgomery Bart station. If you take Columbus all the way down, you will end up near Fisherman's wharf and Pier 39. Lots of great bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. Hotel itself is a Hilton standard, nice rooms, comfy beds and big bathrooms. We had big windows overlooking the bay which was very enjoyable. Free WIFI but no breakfast. Prices are not too high for California. Will come back!
Hotels need to stop having thermostats with motion detectors. I'm all for conserving energy and not running the AC when it's unnecessary, but there has got to be a better way (like pretty much all European hotels). But with the motion detection, as soon as you go to bed, the AC is turning off, and the room is heating up. You have to decide between not sleeping because you're up walking around, or not sleeping because you're laying in bed sweating.
On a recent visit to the Hilton SF Financial District, my husband and I were treated to an ongoing party in the room next door that began around 1 am and continued off and on throughout the early hours of the morning. When I tried to contact the front desk, I discovered that the phone in the room didn't work. After pounding on the wall (ever feel like you've been transported back decades to your college apartment?), the TV was turned off but loud conversation, cursing, and banging that sounded like the room was being remodeled continued. We finally got up and left for the airport early. We selected this hotel based on location because it was near our planned events. Should have stayed at another hotel we are more familiar with that provides excellent service, comfortable beds, and quiet rooms. Sadly, none of those apply to the Hilton SF Financial District. Will NOT stay at this hotel again.…
The best thing about the hotel is its location. It's right next to Chinatown, but also walking distance from the Ferry Building, Union Square, SFMOMA, etc. You can also find many restaurants and bars walking along Columbus Avenue. Regarding the hotel, it is modern and the room was quite nice, but unfortunately it didn't have a great view (try to book one with a view of the bay). The bed was also very comfortable. The only complaint is that the breakfast is not included and it is at least $30 USD per person. So be prepared for that.
Parking should be $20 a night for the Diamond Member. Must use your hotel key fob to get out of parking lot. It does not work for us so each time we used our CC. Hotel took out charges on their bill and charged me $20 each night. I come home from trip and see that the parking machine still charged me $34 each night? Told hotel but they cannot fix it and said I needed to call the Parking company since I had checked out already. Called parking company and their mailbox was full and not taking any messages. I was able to get AMEX to dispute the charges and credit my account!! BEWARE!!! Hotels and Parking Machine to leave hotel do not communicate with each other. Hotel needs to warn customers to check their CC even if hotel says they took the charges out because the parking company will still charge you if you use your CC. We were on the 20th floor and each night the hallway was filled with mist or dust or lint floating on the air. I asked the hotel about it but they said it could be people smoking but we did not smell any smoking in the hallway. I got sick while staying in that hotel because whatever was floating in that hallway we were inhaling the whole week. Too weird!! No where in room to air out room. Other than that the hotel room was clean and the people were nice. For some weird reason the hotel could not lend us the luggage cart to use ourselves. We had to have someone to haul our stuff for us and pay them. In front of their hotel were several luggage carts chained up? Not sure why we could not use one of those???…
I stayed here for one night on a recent business trip. Parking is expensive and the garage is hard to navigate. The front desk staff seemed a little disinterested as they were all on the phone. The room was fine but I’d ask for a bay view. My view was the side of a building. It’s location is pretty great.
Business traveler. Booked *guaranteed* room, with confirmation number, months in advance. Travel plans changed, checked in on app night before, came in next morning, and — despite fully guaranteed room, despite checking in on app — they rebooked the guaranteed room to someone else. Unbelievable. Never again.
very near Chinatown and beginning of Little Italy walking distance to BART and Union Square. Restaurants. Very nice area to explore while walking . I would return here when I'm in San Francisco. Staff was kind and welcoming .Great little lounge area with a Hugh TV room..The restaurant is pretty good for breakfast didn't try the other meals
The hotel looks and feels old. It needs a renovation. Glasses in front of our room were left uncollected for our entire stay (a few days). The hotel does not have umbrellas for guests to use during their stay while other hotels of the same rate and lower do. There are four elevators but wait times after we called an elevator were usually 5-10 minutes. Staff at breakfast were inattentive. I waited 10 minutes for someone to come and take my order. Nobody came. I had to walk over to where they were talking among themselves to get their attention. Sharon, a waitress in the dining room at dinner, was beyond rude. I ordered takeaways. After I signed the bill, she pointed out that I did not give her a tip. I said I didn't give tips for takeaways. She got upset. Fifteen minutes when she came back and THREW my order at me. That raises questions: 1) Does she get paid to be working there, where she obviously does not belong, or does she live entirely on tips; and 2) Are staff trained at all about hospitality?…
