The hotel is right in Union Square. Nice and friendly staff greeted me and provided great assistance when asked. Centrally located to many restaurants. Room was neat and organized. The gym was spacious and clean.
No complaints here on short recent business trip. Very low key experience which I guess is a good thing. Sometimes for a business trip you just want efficiency and a good night's sleep. Pros - good location for both business and tourism - rooms are in good condition and comfortable - decent F&B facilities. Seems like non hotel guests often meet at the bar there too Cons - checkin late at night did have a longish wait. No recognition for Hyatt elite status.
I stayed here for business. The elevators were a bit slow but I guess this is expected in a tall building. One elevator would not go to the top floor but there were no reason why it didn't work. We would get in the elevator push 36 and just wait. The button lit up as if it were going to take you up but just never did. The property is nicely decorated and there were ear plugs near the bed since some may not be able to sleep with the city noises. Although I found a disgusting stain on the headboard, the room was otherwise pretty clean. the housekeeping staff were very friendly but I tip them well. The hotel is walking distance from tons of high end shopping with a target nearby for cheaper incidentals. The bell hops were friendly but gave incorrect information about the local transportation so look it up for yourself to see if they are accurate. The breakfast buffet is $35 with a small selection. Shop around for same quality food at better prices. Roxanne's Cafe and Mel's drive in were great choices. Union Square is under construction so that took away some of the great photo ops but go up in the Macy's building to get great shots from above. Also don't forget to go out at night and get the get views with the signs at night. Beautiful! Overall, very pricey but in line with the area. I felt safe and enjoyed my stay.…
As with most Hyatt hotels, the service and attention to detail was above and beyond. I would be amiss if I didn't note that the buffet breakfast is pricey. The location was good for our trips to tour Alcatraz and Muir Woods. It is a ways from the airport, but close to a variety of restaurants.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in September. We were on the 19th floor, I had requested a high floor. Room was very spacious and immaculately clean. Bed was super king, bedding was lovely, and bed was so comfortable, lovely sleep. Bathroom again large and spotless, quality toiletries and shower powerful. Plenty of clean towels. Room was quiet and windows soundproof. We had a voucher for 50$ as it was my birthday, and spent it at the coffee shop. (Which was again lovely) The hotel is situated on Union Square itself, convenient to walk from everywhere. We were glad we stayed here as it was not as commercial as the Fisherman’s Walk area. Which we don’t like. Staff were all very friendly. The area itself is central, we were quite surprised being British, to the extent of the homeless people in San Francisco, shocking, but hotel was very safe. Excellent, would stay again. Recommend.…
Stay Report - 9/16 to 9/18 Location: Worked very well for my purposes. I enjoyed being able to walk a mile to the Ferry Building and there were two BART stations within a half mile plus the trolley. Also, I never felt unsafe. The night I arrived I walked over to Powell to get dinner and saw no vagrants, signs of destruction but I did see plenty of police and private security. Ditto walking down Market Street the next day Hotel: Not much to look at from the outside (looks very 1970s Hyatt Regency-y) but inside very pleasant. There's a nice lobby with a coffee shop, a bar and restaurant located one floor up on the mezzanine, a Grand Club on the 32nd floor, a fitness center and some rooftop venues. Despite the hotel's size I never had any waits for elevators. Do note that daily housekeeping is still request only. Check In: I got a text from the hotel the morning of my arrival welcoming me. I asked about a suite and was instantly upgraded. When I arrived the staff were very friendly (in fact I got great service from everyone here). I was checked in, given water, thanked for my status, asked about late checkouts, all that good stuff Room: Very nice. A full living room with a large TV and desk, a sliding glass door that opened up about a foot to the outside, two bathrooms (both with showers oddly), a separate bedroom with another large TV and a small closet. There were no issues with soundproofing, the Wifi worked well and there were plenty of outlets. Lounge: The lounge is open for breakfast from 6-10 M-F and 7-11 Sat-Sun. I went for breakfast twice and the options were sadly pretty light. Day one had heuvos rancheros and potatoes, day two scrambled eggs and potatoes, so no meat either day. They also had two kinds of cereal, bagels, pastries and fruit. I did wish for restaurant breakfast which would be more filling but the views from here are stunning and service was great. They also had a really good coffee machine. At night they had an honor bar which had $5 beers and $7 cocktails. That was a nice touch. Overall a great stay. …
The Grand Hyatt is located in a fairly central area, I was able to walk most places, including Fisherman's wharf. Staff were very friendly and helpful. To top it off the restaurant had a vegetarian and gluten free option!
Comfortable room, but poor elevators. Of the 4 that were available, only 2-3 were working consistently that weekend. Happy with hotel’s location near Union Square. Expected better attention to the elevator needs, but might have been short-staffed.
As a business traveller who visits SF 4-5 times a year, I’ve decided to make this my home base. Location is great, price for value is exceptional, fantastic views and lovely rooms. Those who care about infinite hot water and high pressure showers will love this hotel. Quiet and great for getting work done, though I had some minor issues with connecting to corporate vpn. TV is nicely set up so you can connect laptop etc, which was handy. Room was ready early and housekeeping was excellent, as was the staff in general. No room service but you can have restaurant, marketplace etc. Plus it’s easy to have food delivered to the lobby. Overall the experience is very good and I’ll be returning regularly.
I truly enjoyed my stay at Grand Hyatt. The Bar was very nice, however on Sunday it would have been nice that staff turn the TV’s to football games instead of just keeping it on CNN. Our party of 12 staying at the hotel had to walk to a local sports bar to watch the games.
