The Drisco It's an remarkable hotel.
It has been the absolute best establishment my husband and I have ever stayed (15 year timeline). We have stayed as couple and with family, usually in a suite. There is a quiet, old world attitude that makes you feel you have walked into an oasis of personal pampering.
We have been impressed by the consistency of hospitality, the professionalism of the staff, the innate charm of the building, which is beautifully maintained. Thank you for turning off the voice in the elevator announcing the floor. There are only 4. The helpful staff are thoughtful to the small touches of comfort, whether making arrangements or offering suggestions. How many nice hotels actually fill the tank in the Nespresso machine in advance? How many stock your room ice bucket with fresh cubes in advance, or tuck china dishes, forks, napkins in the wooden cablnet in case you want your complimentary welcome snacks on real plates? The rooms contain a curiousity of amenities, even pen and paper, umbrella, tate bags and other small objects that make you realize some has taken time to plan thoroughly for the possible needs of their guests. Towels and sheets are thick and soft, the bathroom floor is heated; the shower controls reliably uncomplicated. Both breakfast & evening appetizers are included in a well appointed dining room with white tablecloths. I can only imagine the amount of behind the scenes attention to detail that management and staff perform to create this environment for their guests. I feel very fortunate that the Hotel Drisco exists.

Hotel Drisco is a wonderful hotel!! First of all, it is in a building of only four floors, plus a street level floor that contains the dining room. Your room key is an actual key, so if you go into the elevator, all you need to do is to press the number of the floor you want. The elevator and two staircases are very accessible. The delicious breakfast spread is included in the fee, so when the staff members see you there, they assume that you are a guest. You can help yourself to any of the delicious food options on display, and you can also order special breakfast dishes. There is a room on the first floor in which you can help yourself to coffee and tea and small snacks all day long. Sometimes there is wine available in the late afternoon. All the workers are helpful and patient, but they never intrude. It is a beautiful and comfortable place in which to stay!

The hotel Drisco is truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff is very helpful and friendly, breakfast is superb as well as healthy and evening drinks and nibbles delicious. Plenty of tea and coffee with delicious homemade baked goods available all day long. The rooms are very comfortable with a choice of pillows and the location in Pacific Heights very quiet and very convenient.

Hotel Drisco offers the amenities that you expect from and no longer receive from the big name hotels. Here is an example. Last year we stayed in a suite on the 32 nd floor of the St Francis Hotel in San Francisco. Our room did not have bath robes. It turns out that you have to request robes. The room service menu consisted of a QR Code. The code didn't work because the account was closed. Meanwhile the Hotel Drisco offer robes and slippers in your room and room service with real menus.

Regarding menus and food the Hotel Drisco offers a Continental Breakfast like no other. I'd call it a full breakfast menu. Then there is the early evening wine and appetizer gathering. The wine flows freely and you can make a meal out of the variety of appetizers that are available. The room service meals are reasonably priced and are very tasty.

The rooms are elegant and well cared for. This is our second stay here and in both stays the furniture was like new. Meaning no dents, scratches or stains could be found.
The Building itself is well maintained which you would expect when your in the Pacific Heights Neighborhood surrounded by multi million dollar mansions overlooking San Francisco Bay. There are no homeless people, panhandlers, or drug use around this area. Hardly any vehicle traffic which all and all makes for a very quite relaxing environment.

The relaxing environment can be attributed in part to the professional staff at Hotel Drisco. Everyone greets you with a smile and makes sure that your needs are met.

We will always stay at the Hotel Drisco whenever we travel to San Francisco.

We recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at the historic Hotel Drisco in SF’s Pacific Heights area, and had such a wonderful, romantic, and unforgettable experience there. The hotel itself is charming and elegant, inside and out. It is located in one of the nicest areas of San Francisco atop a hill with great views of the city. The area is safe and walkable if you don’t mind hills. We walked to and from dinner, and enjoyed the views of the city and even the bay in some spots. Inside, this historic hotel is very elegant and harkens to a bygone era. Our room was gorgeous and luxurious, with amazing views of the city. The hotel staff left us champagne for our anniversary, which made us feel really special. The room had nice amenities like filtered water, a Nespresso machine, plush robes and slippers, and we felt very pampered. (We even got to take home our reusable glass water bottles with insulated sleeves as a memento of our stay.) The customer service at this hotel is second to none, with wonderful staff who made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Prior to our arrival, one of the employees assisted my husband in ordering flowers and having them delivered to our room, and my husband said this person was so nice and helpful. The employees we encountered at the front desk, evening reception and breakfast were all very friendly and accommodating, which made us feel so pampered. The amenities provided at this hotel are also second to none. The hotel has an evening reception and breakfast in the morning, both of which were amazing and exceeded our expectations in every way. At the evening reception, there were a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as hot and cold appetizers that could have been dinner had we not had reservations elsewhere. We were so impressed with both the quantity and quality of items as well as the sophisticated presentation and table service. Breakfast was equally impressive, with both hot and cold options and plenty of high-quality choices. In addition to the buffet options, we were able to order egg dishes and coffee drinks from our table. All in all, we cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Thank you hotel Drisco for helping us create such wonderful memories from our 30th wedding anniversary. We will be back!

This is our favorite hotel in the city. We will never stay anywhere else. I grew up in the Bay Area, and we visit frequently to see family. Hotel Drisco is stunning and luxe but remains warm and welcoming. The staff is unparalleled: attentive, personable and kind. Our bed and pillows were perfection, and I appreciated the bathroom’s heated floors and the dimmable table lamps. Most complimentary hotel breakfasts are dismal, but the one at Hotel Drisco was very well done. Beautiful fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, oatmeal, honey from the hotel’s own hives (!!!) and made-to-order eggs. The evening wine reception included some yummy and substantial snackies. Its location in Pacific Heights (a nice residential neighborhood) makes for a peaceful night’s sleep, but you’re still close enough to anything you might want to do in the city. But really, hats off to the staff here. They are the real deal. True professionals.

There is no better place to stay while visiting San Francisco - period. The breakfast alone is worth gold in a city with limited breakfast options. Our adult children in SF always join us for cappuccinos, made-to-order omelets, lox bagels, and fruit smoothies (for a reasonable guest fee). The service is top-notch, and the neighborhood is gorgeous. The nightly Dickens-style Christmas carolers on the steps of the hotel the week before Christmas are just icing on the cake. It's our favorite hotel in the U.S.!

The Hotel Drisco is a special little gem located in the quiet and lovely neighborhood of Presidio Heights. The hotel is small and quaint, beautifully appointed, bright w natural light on most floors, and casually elegant. The staff could not be more accommodating and pleasant, always available, yet discreet in presence. The morning breakfast and evening wine service are remarkable, both in quality, selection and presentation. Plan your day around both of these services - they are a huge value add to the price of your room. Plan your stay for at least 2-3 nights to fully enjoy this wonderful hotel. If you want a people watching venue, bar/dining activity, and a location closer to downtown SF, you will be better served staying elsewhere.

Hotel Drisco is by far the most comfortable and luxurious hotel in San Francisco. The Drisco's location in Pacific Heights allows the traveler to be out of the way of the crowds and noise, and to enjoy the beauty of the City, while being moments away from many of the top attractions, such as Golden Gate Park, the Japanese Tea Garden, the art museums, and the California Academy of Sciences. We have stayed at the Drisco many times, but this visit was truly extraordinary. The hotel has added so many elegant food items, such as delicious custom made omelets to their breakfast buffet, that they are now offering their guests a full breakfast, all included in the price of the room. There is also a nightly wine event included, complete with elegant food offerings. We stayed in a City View Suite, which was very large and comfortable, sunny, whisper quiet, and offered a panoramic view of San Francisco, along with a huge and delightfully comfortable bed, a living room area, a large TV, and a bath complete with heated floors, rain shower and luxury toiletries. Did I mention the soft, thick terry robes and slippers? A treat not to be missed! The wonderful staff is always ready to provide guests with anything they might require. There is even a morning car service to take guests wherever they might wish to go. Do not miss a chance to stay at Hotel Drisco!

Not having been to SF in over a dozen years (I know, my bad) I needed to find a hotel in a specific area. Enter Hotel Drisco Pacific Heights. One of the most beautiful neighborhoods in SF. I got a city view room and while not super large, it was very well appointed and supremely comfortable. Bathroom WAS huge. The hotel is lovely and intimate and one feels very much at home here. There are so many pluses to this property: The evening wine tasting, the incredible breakfast offerings that are included in the room (very European), the tea/coffee/tiny snack offerings always present in the drawing room and a small but very well equipped gym that has everything you need for a full and complete workout. There's even a Peleton. The rooms have filtered water and huge (glass) water bottles that are the guests to take. While not inexpensive (including taxes it was around $750/night) it's worth it for a splurge.

How’s the neighborhood (safe and walkable)?
Answer from Toni P
Greater London, United Kingdom5 contributions10 helpful votes
Neighbourhood is extremely safe, the hotel is situated on a road that is mansion after mansion. It is very high up too, so whichever direction you come from you will need to walk up some very steep roads. Be careful with which one you choose to get up to that road because one day we innocently chose a random road close by and it was the steepest road I have ever walked up in my life, with these crazy teenage skateboarders making their way down it. I was absolutely shattered after since I had spent the whole day walking anyway, a nasty way to end it! But a great location despite that.

Do the bathrooms have walk-in showers or tub/show combos?
Answer from essay811
Tucson, Arizona54 contributions62 helpful votes
The answer to the question is wholly dependent upon the type of room, i.e., a suite--409 for example--has a wonderful walk in shower, replete with all of the "stuff" needed for a shower after a hard day of doing things you love to do when staying at this oasis. Other rooms--we've stayed in several both before and after the remodeling--do not have walk in showers. Ergo, if the need for a walk in shower is the decisive driver, merely ask the front desk when booking to find you a room of your dreams.

Hi, we offer chauffeur service every weekday morning from 7am to 10am to Union Square, the Financial District and the Presidio. Unfortunately Pier 33 is not one of our destinations, but we can take you downtown and you can take a walk or a short rideshare from there.
