I wish I had stayed somewhere else. Uninviting: No lobby. Just a narrow hallway to the rooms. Nobody ever at front desk. Always had to push a button and wait for service. They were efficient enough with their service but I sensed they were irritated I was bothering them and wanted me just to go away. The website advertises free WiFi. THE WIFI DOES NOT WORK IN THE ROOMS. ALSO, THE HOTEL IS AN INTERNET DEAD ZONE. I COULD NOT GET INTERNET ON MY PHONE WITH WIFI. I COULD NOT GET INTERNET ON MY PHONE WITHOUT WIFI. I ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY SENDING TEXT MESSAGES. It amazes me that a hotel exists today without internet access. I felt like I was stuck in a lonely room separated from the modern world. I could get WiFi in the hotel lobby (narrow hallway) so hung out there to get internet. I felt kind of creepy hanging out in a hotel hallway, but then two others joined me because they couldn't get internet in their rooms. Their website advertises continental breakfast. There isn't one. False advertising? The rooms were comfortable enough and reasonably well appointed. Good bathroom and shower / tub. However, the in the wall heating / cooling units were really noisy. I admit I was trying to save money this trip, but I didn't expect anything this bad. I usually stay at the Hampton in Daly City or the Kensington Park in Union Square. Both nice hotels. The two best things about this hotel are the closeness to Ocean Beach and the coffee place next door - Java Beach, a great place for coffee and breakfast and their WiFi works really well. Oh and they do have free parking.…
Our car was keyed when parked in the inner property parking, two deep and long scratches on the doors and the wings of the vehicle’s driver’s side. The hotel staff expressed no understanding, help, apologies, or even a simple word "sorry". They just told us that it happens to them all the time. They have at least three cameras around the spot, but we were told the cameras are not recording. Strictly do not recommend the place.
I stayed here for a week, I was happy with the room and especially the bathroom. For the price it’s nice new and clean. The hallways are old still. The man at the front desk is extremely rude for no reason, I was telling him what car I had in the garage as they requested. For some reason he started yelling at me “only 1 person per room!” ..but I was the only person there and it was my rental car. Still giving 4/5 because of the value. Walls are thin but people are generally quiet.
I had to go to UCSF on Parnassus for a procedure we just happened to run across this hotel and thought it would be kind of nice to stay near the beach I'm glad we did The staff was great it was clean The rooms were very nice we are going back again this week because I have another appointment at the hospital this I think will become our hotel to go to thank you for taking such pride
Stayed 2 nights recently at this hotel across the street from the SF Zoo. I checked in late at night. Took a long time for the desk clerk to come out after ringing the bell. She was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. She was also unhappy that I was able to enter the hotel so late because the door was unlocked. The hotel itself is nice and recently remodeled. Continental breakfast is not as good as when it was a Days Inn. If the night clerk is an employee, she should be fired because of poor interpersonal skills. If she is the owner, she should either sell and get into another line of business or hire a more personable clerk. Her attitude is bad for business.
The hotel has upgraded its rooms which are very comfortable, clean, nice bed, tv with all channels, coffee maker, microwave, fridge. The carpet in the hallways have stains. There is no elevator. There was often no one at the front desk. It’s quiet, across the street from the zoo, free parking, great coffee shop next door, easy to get downtown on the l streetcar.
This hotel is run by cheap, deceitful scammers! Last night, my husband and I booked the hotel online and arrived at hotel around 11pm. When my husband went to the office to check in and show our confirmation from my phone to the front desk agent. The front desk lady said our reservation wasn't on her system and got confrontational. My husband said we just booked it. It might take a minute, could you reload your booking system? The lady kept saying the confirmation wasn't on her system and got angrier. After yelling a bit she looked again. Guess what? It's there. Later, we went to get a soda. Put a dollar in and nothing came out. Noticed the very suspicious sign. All the lights were on and nothing appeared wrong. No money returned. Next day told front office. Man clearly knew it was doing that. Refused to put his own dollar in to prove return worked. Refused to return dollar. Refused to unplug the machine or put an out of order sign on it. It became clear that the hotel was intentionally stealing their customers money! Room was average at best, no view at all. Terrible service!!!…
Clean and renovated room, good location close to beach and Zoo, nice suburbs area. Can get little noisy if your room is located close to street or near breakfast area. The breakfast is very basic. Easy parking. Staff friendly and helpful.
If your main criterion for staying at this hotel is proximity to a location or an event, then you might consider bunking here. Here are some of the disadvantages: The breakfast is sparse and you have to carry it back to your room as there is nowhere else to eat it. You will probably have to go to a restaurant, so the included breakfast will not save you any money. The carpets in the public areas are stained and dirty looking. The bannister felt sticky. The windows are dirty. There was no closet in our room and there was nowhere to hang our clothing. There is no elevator. The staff have no notion of hospitality and were extremely impatient and rude. The bathrooms are very nice, but they are not going to entice me to return.
We were pleasantly surprised with Mirage Inn & Suites. When we arrived, the lady at the front desk was extremely pleasant and helpful as she checked us in. She let us park next to the office while we unloaded our car. Oh, and the motel has free garage parking for guests - rare in San Francisco! The rooms and bathrooms had recently been redone. Our room was extremely clean and the motel was mostly quiet during our entire 3-day weekend. The motel is literally across the street from the San Francisco Zoo, and a couple of blocks away from the beach. Also, there's a pizza place and a coffee shop next door. We didn't get to visit the pizza place, but the coffee shop was cute and had a great menu. On our last night, someone moved into the room above us, and while we could hear someone walking up there, it wasn't loud enough for us to lose any sleep. It was an excellent value and I highly recommend staying here!…
