This was my fav hotel when visiting SF on business a decade ago. It's reasonable, convenient to the bay and easy trolly ride around the city. Very secure with front entry locked and covered parking for $$. The room was clean and our view of the bridge just slightly obscured by fires. Front desk very helpful and courteous. The downside now is that on Van Ness, the main drag, most business are now closed and there are lots of homeless. But Lombard still had la variety restaurants open for take-out or sidewalk seating.. And even with Covid and was safe to walk. No fridge or microwave if that matters to you.
I had a horrible experience staying at Comfort Inn. There was a condom that my girlfriend found in the room on the floor next to my bedside table. They did not offer any kind of compensation besides a measly $25 parking ticket reimbursement. The front desk lady was very rude and tried to insinuate that we had planted the condom there ourselves by stating that the housekeepers "thoroughly clean the rooms" before the next guests arrive. Clearly this was not the case! It took me a week to speak to the manager about this situation, who gave me the same responses as the front desk lady, and also accused us of planting the condom. would never stay here again. This place is dirty and the customer service is horrendous.
Found this hotel somewhat by accident. Cons - It's not a new hotel, and the elevators and hallways definitely make it feel dated. Pros - Centrally located in the city. Easily walkable to many tourist locations. Easy access to busing and cable cars, too. Loved having a hot breakfast avavilable, too. Staff were quite helpful with any questions. Traveled for business and pleasure.
Rented 2 rooms for my family visit. Overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, close to everything touristy. Spacious, parking, clean, friendly staff and great breakfast. Will definitely stay again. Close to Lombard street and affordable pricing.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am writing Comfort Inn in its entirety off my list of options for hotels from now on over the appallingly bad experience at this hotel. I emailed the hotel twice about arranging shuttle service, explaining I was in a different country and could not call. They never answered me and just left me stranded at the airport on my arrival. It turns out that doesn’t matter since their shuttle service is more expensive than Uber. I came in the door with my luggage sitting out on the street so I could help my disabled child into the hotel. I needed a luggage cart brought to the door so I could watch my son and my luggage on the street, and the employee absolutely refused to do anything to help. He would not simply roll a luggage cart over to me, saying the hotel doesn’t have a bell hop. He would not even unlock one of the doors so I could get the luggage cart to fit properly through the doors once I had left my luggage outside unattended and was trying to go out to retrieve it. Nor would he help when I was struggling to fit it through the one door that was unlocked. I have no idea what kind of a person just stands there watching a mother struggle so much and does absolutely nothing to help. Not to mention the entire time I was struggling to get back outside, my luggage was left unattended right on the street and could he been stolen. And while I was loading up the cart, my young, disabled son was alone in the lobby since it is impossible for me to help him back out the door while pushing a luggage cart. This was extremely stressful for me when I was already left to be totally overwhelmed by this hotel’s lazy staff. If I could have stayed at a different hotel at that point, I would have. I have never in my life experienced such appalling customer service. I got to the room, and it is nothing like what was pictured when I made the reservation. It is well less than half the size of the room pictured in the reservation I made. I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again if they allow this kind of behavior from their staff. You don’t have to be a bell hop to see someone struggling so much and just be a decent human being to help.…
