People are friendly and want to help, the whole hotel needs a serious refresh. Near the bay and bus stop is at 5 minutes walking. Breakfast is really not the worst I got during my 3 weeks road trip but stays basic.
Very happy with this place! Check-in was a breeze. We arrived a Friday night at around 11PM and 5 mins later we were in our room! We even asked for an upgrade to get a room with a view and they gave us a nice room on the 6th floor with a view on the GGB. There was also more stuff than we'd tought at the breakfast (eggs, sausage, toasts, yogurt, waffles). We were there for 3 nights and we always arrived between 8 and 9 and nothing was missing! As for the room, it's true that the bathroom is a bit small but for me it was no big deal. Staff was nice to us. They said they didn't clean the room because of COVID and we had to request if we wanted to. We just request to change towells when the maid was around. Otherwise room was OK - beds were comfortable and there was not that much noise, we slept well! Location was perfect... about 5 mins (walking) to Lombard St., 15-20 to Pier 39, 15 to the Hyde&Powell cable-car, 20-25 to Pier 33 (Alcatraz Tour) etc...otherwise, it's easy to use public transportation. We used that for the whole time we were there minus 2x UBER for the airport ride (33$ USD from airport to hotel and 45USD back...) If you ever go there, grab a slice of pizza at the place right in front on Lombard and have a drink at the Black Magic Voodoo Lounge located on the corner of Van Ness/Lombard. Staff was really nice and it was a cool place to hang out after spending the day visiting the city !!!…
We were very grateful the lady allowed us to check in early. Our room on 9th floor was lovely , clean, spacious and nice view of the bay. The air con was noisy so we switched it off. Bag storage was great, didn’t get up early enough for breakfast. Our only diss appointment was the night manager- we arrived late from evening Alcatraz tour and required wheelchair access entry, he completely ignored us and kept pointing to go to the front door which we couldn’t use due to wheelchair. Other than that, our stay was good and location was handy.
Decent hotel and rooms for an older building. 3 story parking garage under the building with very tight parking. Check in parking is a nightmare to get into and out of. Decent breakfast options available. Can walk anywhere and feel safe and secure. Building is locked after 10 pm and you must be buzzed in as the hotel does not have keycards to open doors to return if you get in late. Night manager is a power hungry know-it-all. Dude works for a 2 Star Hotel not a Hilton or the Ritz.
Horrible service, no maid service, ridiculously tiny bathroom, no water pressure, low shower head, very low toilet, no sink counter to lay out toiletries, have to log in to weak Wi-Fi every time you wake your device, sandpaper like towels (maybe they are large loofahs?) No safe to secure valuables. Positives- largish rooms, nice desk work area One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Start your day in a terrible mood after trying to shower in this phone booth of a bathroom. At $20./night, you’re over paying.
Location is convenient, however staff are very unprofessional, check in took over an hour, staff were rude, advised manager regarding this the following day and was told he would follow up with it. Breakfast is included, it consists of- tea, coffee, waffles, toast, cereal, porridge. On two mornings there was scrambled eggs, the other two mornings there were some frozen type burger that u put in the microwave before eating Parking is $30 per night Air conditioning is extremely noisy, If it’s raining outside the rain will drop on the air conditioner and is extremely noisy in the bedroom I was able to hear my neighbour conversation in the air vent from the bathroom The bathroom- unable to close the door it’s so small! The day we were checking out the receptionist was coughing and blowing her noise all over my receipt, masks are not warn in this hotel…
Checked in here around 11:30 PM. The clerk couldn't get my credit card to work but after several tries managed to get me checked in to a room already occupied. Back to square one. Got checked into an unoccupied room only to get there and the room key-card wouldn't work. Back down to the front desk. Finally got into the room and it was not what I expected. Thought I was renting a sweet and the room was 200 sq. ft. with a queen size bed. Too tired to fight and went to bed. Checked my credit card ap in the morning and found that I had been charge twice for over $1,200. Back to the front desk... They assured the charges would be removed in 2-3 working days. I cut my stay short and moved to a different accommodation. Now over a week later I find that the errant charges have still to be removed!…
Stayed 2 night here as a stopover before flying to French Polynesia. Nice clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, especially Brittany at the front desk. Breakfast included but really pared down with COVID, hopefully will change soon. Nice quiet location, nice walk to Lombard street and down to the wharf etc. so glad we did not chose to stay in that area! It has changed, and not for the better. Looking for good value, good location in a more residential area this hotel is a good choice
This is a clean, safe hotel in a great location. Walk to Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Nob Hill and public transportation. Check in with Sharon was a breeze and she was great: very welcoming and helpful. Great experience enjoy stay.
My 4 night stay at Comfort Inn by the Bay was very comfortable. Check in was a breeze. I was given a room with 2 queen beds (VERY comfy) and a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Bathroom was small but functional. Coffee maker in room was a nice touch. The room was very quiet despite its location on a busy main thoroughfare. Internet worked very well (become a Choice Rewards member to get upgraded room and free internet). Location for me was great, easy to walk everywhere, near lots of public transportation and just a few blocks from the bay/Marina area, and one block from Polk St. (lots of restaurants and shops). The Van Ness neighborhood is a bit 'sketchy' at night but still felt safe on my walks home from restaurants and theater. Front desk staff very helpful. Breakfast was just eh--bagged with a breakfast sandwich (microwaves in the breakfast area to heat up your sandwich), a pastry and an apple. Good coffee and juice were 'help yourself'. Breakfast area was comfortable. All in all, an excellent stay.…
