We travel and book with IHG Hotels & Resorts often (at least once a quarter) and recently experienced awful customer service. We missed updating an expired credit card on our member profile and after booking weeks in advance for a stay at the Enso, 3 hours before check-in, our reservation was cancelled. There was no notification sent prior, the hotel was fully booked, and every manager and customer service support (locally and via corporate) only offered "it is our policy, there is nothing we can do." Well, this policy is unacceptable. Guests should be given 24 hours to rectify a payment concern prior to cancelling a reservation. We scrambled to find another hotel as we boarded a plane; needless to say, starting off a trip like this was terrible. Signed, A very disappointed customer.

Not Kimpton Level Quality. This is a nice Holiday Inn, but not worth the Kimpton price. Stayed for 5 nights. CONS: Homeless guy sitting in the corner sleeping at the long table in the nook of the lobby! Flies swarming outside front doors day and night; and flies in the lobby when they prop open the front door! Stairs going down to enter hotel; very inconvenient with luggage; Everyone pays for parking in price of room, even if you don't have a car; No coffee nor microwave in room; Coffee only in lobby only from 6-10am and it was already COLD at 6:45am; False Advertising: I measured the "Queen bed". It's NOT a Queen, it's a FULL sized mattress (smaller) bed! Why did the guy checking in the 4 of us ask if I wanted a free upgrade from 2 Queens to ONE King?!?! I assumed he said 2 Kings, but nope, he checked the 4 of us into a room with only 1 KING bed and explained their rooms are not big enough for 2 Kings. Wow! LOUD ANNOYING keyboard player/singer in small lobby Saturday night; guy checking us in had to shout over the "music"; No dresser; Dirty, dusty carpet along the walls; Ice only on 3rd & 7th floors; Fitness Center is useless for weight lifting: hand weights up to only 25lbs and no Universal weights machine. 4 cardio machines not necessary because you automatically get your cardio walking anywhere in the city; No breakfast & their on-site restaurant went out of business; They ignored the loud car alarm in their garage for at least 10 minutes. Listen to audio file from lobby attached. PROS: Excellent Customer Service

We really enjoyed this lovely hotel. The rooms were bright and super clean. We loved the Japanese-inspired bathrobes and the comfy window seat with nice city views. We really liked the decor in the rooms and lobby. There was plenty of storage, and a refrigerator to keep leftovers. The only downside is the fitness room, which is very basic. We enjoyed the location with close access to many shops and restaurants.

Modern busy hotel I. A superb location for exploring San Francisco. This contemporary modern hotel is I. A well appointed position near the wharf for exploring San Francisco. The rooms although clean due to being well used need to be refurbished. We had a few minor problems with the bathroom not functioning properly but after informing reception they were immediately attended to.

We booked Kimpton Enso given its location to our friends who live in the neighbourhood. Please note that this hotel has zero facility - no restaurant (hence no free breakfast for IHG Elite Members), bar or any other basic facility other than a tiny gym. How can this hotel be branded as Kimpton?? It is at best a Holiday Inn Express (without breakfast)... The room that we had was old, dirty and not well maintained. The air conditioning unit was also very noisy. I am an IHG Diamond member. We were initially not given an upgrade because the hotel 'was fully booked' according to the reception. But when I challenged them by showing the availability across most room categories on the IHG app, the receptionist made a phone call and we were immediately told that upgrade was available. This was truly disingenuous. We will not stay here ever again.

Such a disappointment!!! We have stayed at other Kimpton Hotels, but this hotel was a huge disappointment. Since the day we checked in, the heating did not work in our room. The management provided a space heater which we used for all the 3 nights we stayed at this hotel. There were no fresh towels available the 2nd day we were at the hotel since the hotel did not get towel delivery. The house keeping collected towels from other rooms and gave them to us. Don’t know if they were clean or not. The 3rd day of the stay, the house keeping changed the sheets but there were no clean pillow covers available so they did not change the pillow covers. Even though the hotel is renovated in 2022, there were huge stains on the carpet. We could hear weird noises coming from the elevator. Very mediocre furnishing, no coffee machine, no water bottles, no writing desk, no restaurant at the property. The area around the hotel is nice but everything closes down by 7pm. You cannot even get a cup of coffee after 7pm. We paid too much money for such a bad service. Will never stay again!!

Nice hotel in a lovely neighbourhood. The desk staff were very helpful on check-in, during our stay and at check-out. The rooms were well laid out and the bathrooms of a great size with a welcome excellent shower. Fresh towels provided everyday. The morning coffee and evening wine in the lobby were much appreciated and an opportunity to chat to other guests (if you wished). There are many lovely restaurants and bakeries close by. Good proximity to transport links. Would highly recommend.

What a wonderful “find” was the Kimpton Hotel Enso. Obviously, a property that been around for a while, it has been handsomely refurbished, and is quite welcoming. Quite frankly, contrary to what other reviewers might feel, a simple lobby is perfectly acceptable as the folks behind the reception desk truly make the room. In our case, simple became grand. The lack of an in-room coffee maker was at first a disappointment, but in the end, not so…. We all know how delicious is the coffee that most in-room devices brew; not so in most cases. We loved the freshly brewed coffee that was abundantly available in the lobby. For us, what makes a hotel room great is the bed, and the bathroom. The Kimpton Enso scored five stars on each, perhaps more when you factor in value for the dollar. We’ve stayed at all-too-many San Francisco hotels over the years. This is our new “go to” place.

We love Kimptons. We have always found them special and wonderful. Not this one. We paid for a city view. It is a view of roofs not worth it. The water was warm, the ice machine didn't work the lobby is a tiny room not really a lobby at all. When I called 3 times to explain my disappointment I was told (being a Kimpton platinum member did not matter) to email the general manager and he would call me. He never did. Won't recommend this one and very disappointed in company handling of our stay. We booked 2 rooms and had a client in the other room

This hotel seems very nice and new on the surface, but lacks a lot of basic necessities. No coffee, kettle, or microwave in rooms, the ac in the rooms is awful, no good sundries store, and the front desk is inattentive. Overall, I’d go somewhere less fancy and get what you need.
