While the place is a bit quirky, the beds are very comfortable and the staff is amazing! Can not say enough positive things about Brian and Mina, who took care of everything we needed. The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this hotel. It's not too far to walk to shopping, Dottie's for breakfast and other sights.

We live in the Bay Area and have stayed in SF hotels many times. We stayed at the Carriage Inn on New Year's and thought it was well worth the price we paid. Nothing fancy like the "nice hotels" but room was eclectic with tasteful decor (example: ours had a really old typewriter on the table). Basically the hotel is...

My sister and I booked this when many other rooms we looked at were about as big as a postage stamp. We were so PLEASANTLY surprised to check into Lefty O'Doul's room (the rooms are named after famous San Franciscans). Our room had two very comfortable beds, a desk/table with two chairs, a reading chair, double dresser with self-closing drawers...

Stayed here last weekend when I was traveling for a conference. I always check for bedbugs when I travel but did not initially notice any signs (mattress and box springs were in zippered cases, didn't see any signs around the headboard). When I woke up Saturday morning, I noticed a few fresh spots of blood on the covers. I threw...

Cool hotel - refurbished with edgy class. Not one where you say - "this look like every other hotel room I've seen before". The rooms are large & clean and the front desk is 24/7, helpful, and caring. It is only several blocks from Union Square and one block from BART. If you like staying out of the frantic fray...

I stayed here back in October, and i have nothing to complain about! The hotel staff were extremely helpful with the issues we had with bookings, and always greeted us with a smile. The hotel is located in a still seedy but rapidly gentrifying area of SoMa. It is a block from the UN Plaza BART station. There are lots of derelicts and druggies on the street, but also young hi-tech types who are increasingly moving into the area. The hotel itself is fine. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, decorated in...

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
