This a very nice hotel in a great location. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. As in many buildings there you can hear a lot of noise all night - thin walls, wooden stairs and very noisy street behind not very tight window. But that's the City center - what do you expect? Breakfast is a bit poor and... More

We came for the convention this year in September. We did not expect a lot from the hotel, but we were extremely impressed with this hotel. Very small but modern lobby and very comfortable rooms. During the check in it was a huge line, but we understood, everybody was coming to the same convention. The lady in the front desk... More

We loved the location. It's located a couple steps from Union Square and trollies, and directly across the street from the parking garage. YOU DO HAVE TO PAY DAILY FOR PARKING. We loved that we could just walk out the door and start exploring. You really wouldn't need a car if you stayed at this hotel. The room was small... More

Me & my girlfriend stayed at the mystic hotel for out first time this week. I wasn't expecting the room to be so nice just because the lobby is so little and basic. But the rooms make you feel like your in a whole different hotel from the lobby. Our room was upgraded for our anniversary which we appreciated they... More

We stayed at the Mystic Hotel in a Mystic Junior room for two nights, Nov. 22 and 23 to participate in Cosmic Run and to explore San Francisco by foot. We book this hotel specifically because of its value (via Booking) and because it has a restaurant and bar. The hotel itself is dated and this is apparent from all... More

Stayed here for 3 nights, great location as its only 3 minute walk to Union Sq.. HOWEVER. There is a "Tavern" on the premises, Nice enough reception, overpowering night shift staff on my arrive were way too loud and outspoken. We were aparantly given a "quiet" room... If your anywhere close to the wooden stairwell forget it.. you wont get... More

The hotel is old building but renovated partially. The rooms are renovated partially. The bathrooms are ok but the carpets on floor need to be changed. the beds are comfortable and clean. The location is perfect. The breakfast is good. the bar is popular and worth to see and have drink at happy hour.

The hotel room itself was nice, clean, had a lot of character which we loved, the bus was also right outside which was perfect because we got the city pass. This place did let me down a few way though... the onsite bar/restaurant wasn't great for service, super loud, and the food quality was so-so... we also can reconfirm another... More

Upon check in I was given a complimentary upgrade, and was assigned to a room with great views of the city. The hotel is an older building, but has been renovated fantastically. The lobby, tavern and rooms feature inviting decor. Although the rooms are on the smaller side, they are comfortable. The staff was generally very welcoming and friendly. My... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Luke Knox turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Knox also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
