We checked out of the hotel this morning. Our stay here (3 nights) was very much a mixed bag. On checking in (we had two king rooms), we were very disappointed with the size of our room, compared to the size of our daughters’ room. Ours was extremely small with the toilet located right at the base of the bed. There was very little floor space and no wardrobes / drawers. I spoke to the lady at reception who informed me that there was no other King rooms and didn’t hesitate in upgrading us. The upgraded room was vastly better. The rooms are very clean, as are the bathrooms. I can’t imagine that’s an easy task in such an old building. Plenty of hot water too. The hotel on the whole is very dark. The rooms offer very little in the way of natural light (the pics on the website suggest the opposite). The stairways and the corridors are very dark too. It created a slightly depressing vibe. The smell (albeit pleasant) in reception is very overwhelming. The bar looked very quirky but seemed to be ‘reserved’ for the entirety of our stay. One other major issue for us was the noise. The bin collection is at 6am every morning. It’s extremely noisy and there’s quite a bit of street noise into the early hours too. Overall, the service here is amazing. The reception ladies are very helpful! I think good lighting in the corridors and stairways will make the whole hotel look and feel so much nicer. I understand sound proofing would be extremely costly, but it would also make the hotel so much better. I guess when booking a hotel of this kind, in the city, a certain level of noise should be expected.…
We picked the hotel because of the interior design. Jeanette at reception was wonderful. Just like the hotel, So warm! It’s a hotel that knows the guests. Not a standard hotel. Just go there! We like to come back
We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the fancy atmosphere of this boutique hotel. Located in the centre (Union Square) it is an oasis of calm (mostly) and intimacy and makes you feel well both at night and for a short rest during the day. Very nice geste: the complementary aperitif in the afternoon.
This hotel is so adorable and comfortable. The staff was super friendly. The rooms are super cool and beautifully designed. Comfy bed. Clean. In room minibar was a plus and the Nespresso coffee maker made some wonderful strong coffee.
This is such a charming renovated historic property! I'm in San Francisco frequently for work and I can't believe it took me so long to check out this hotel. The staff here is lovely (big shout out to Janelle!) and the suites are an especially great deal. Good sized rooms. Everything is clean and spotless. It's also a dog friendly hotel (with fee) and the staff are really friendly about saying hi to pupguests. I've stayed here for 7 nights in the last few weeks and have no regrets at all!
the hotel itself is pretty old and small, which is not itself a bad thing (in fact, the old otis elevator was cool and a nice change in scenery). however, the walls and floors are pretty thin, so we were able to hear our neighbors walking around and slamming their doors. the room itself was nice and clean. staff was fine generally, but we had an issue with housekeeping, and management has yet to follow up with us (even though the people manning the front desk said they would).
This is a charming boutique hotel that feels just as authentic as it does comfortable. The attention to detail in the building makes the experience feel curated and inviting. I highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a room in the city.
The staff was friendly, the location was great! Overall wonderful experience! I came with a family and enjoyed every minute of our stay! We'll be going back to Palihotel for sure! Highly recommend! Close to everything!
Although there was a slight staff mixup, our stay was wonderful and we would recommend the Palihotel. The room was very spacious and the location is central to many attractions. Specifically, the interior design was very cozy.
- Boutique hotel in an old building. - Rooms were renovated and designed nicely but a bit tight for 2 persons with a lot of luggage. - beds were super comfy - they offer free beer and wine in the afternoon, which is a nice touch - sink was too small (and I’m a petite girl but it was a struggle to use the sink to wash your face or brush your teeth)
