Palihotel San Francisco garners praise for its stylish ambiance and prime location that's conveniently near attractions and public transport, though parking can be tricky. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and chic decor, some guests have noted they can be on the noisier, smaller side with occasional missing amenities. The hotel's service receives mixed reviews, with commendable staff encounters alongside some communication mishaps. Despite some noise complaints and amenity limitations, many find the hotel to offer a solid value and an overall inviting atmosphere.

I loved my time at the PaliHotel. The shower is fabulous with the most amazing bath products! The staff members I spoke with were amazing. They didn’t “act” like they cared-they were genuinely nice and helpful. I phoned ahead of my stay to ask a couple questions and Janelle was so helpful. When I arrived Hannah was also excellent. Richard in the coffee bar was so nice to chat with. I absolutely loved every minute of my time there and look forward to going back. The elevator is such a cool experience. Real wool blanket! Dyptique toiletries, the most comfy white thick cotton robes, spotlessly clean throughout. So happy I got to go to the PaliHotel.

We drove up to San Francisco from Los Angeles for a wedding. Parking was no problem, the price was fair knowing how much city parking generally is. It's a simple yet stylish hotel, no problems at all checking in. Very smooth. Location is amazing, nestled just between Union and Chinatown.
The room in itself is cozy, but I was surprised to not see a table/desk in the space. For a king room, I would have expected a working surface at least. No iron/iron board is supplied in the room, that needs to be requested from the front desk, which is fine - space is such a commodity in cities like this. The ironing board cover really does needs to be replaced; I felt like I was ironing on top of the metal grate. Nespresso machines in the room was a nice little plus. Real good coffee! I preferred the Nespresso over the coffee that they have downstairs every morning.
We had some last minute things go wrong with our outfits for the wedding and needed a sewing kit. The hotel doesn't supply one as an amenity. We made do since we were incredibly tight on time, but there is a Walgreens not too far for future reference.
Probably the largest detail that I could not get over was the sink. It is incredibly small (I guess you can call it "euro sized", AND it has a shelf right over it. I banged my forehead a couple of times the first night, but was quite conscious about it for the next 2 days of our stay. Here's a tip: place the bath mat under the sink if you are washing your face - it's going to be a splash zone. I'm sure if there wasn't a shelf right over the sink, the water displacement would have been more minimal. The downlights in the bathroom over the mirror also don't help (major design flaw here). Basically no better than Best Western bathroom vanity area. Perhaps now I'm just getting picky about the design details, but I did expect more from a hotel that prides itself on it's style.
One more thing: there is absolutely no sound insulation from room to room. I could hear the conversation going on next door completely. I almost blurted out "bless you" out of habit when I heard them sneeze.
TL;DR version: it's a stylish hotel, but it's pretty basic. It definitely didn't feel like any generic hotel, for sure more "homey" if that makes sense. Despite the little details that I noted above, I would still stay here again, but would be more aware with what lacks and communicate those items that I would like to see upon arrival to the hotel.

This hotel is suitable for a business trip. In other words, if you are looking for efficiency, cleanliness, and thoughtful design while not overspending, this is an ideal place to stay. The Queen-sized rooms are relatively small, so we suggest upgrading to a Suite for a minimal dollar increase if you need more space. However, the water closet sink in the Suite is tiny. It isn't easy to wash your face without water spilling to the floor.

As soon as you walk into the Palihotel, you feel welcome & you just know it’s going to be gorgeous in the bar & your room too. And it was. All those lovely extras like a decent coffee machine, towelling robes & a very well stocked minibar, as well as a fabulous bed & superb shower, makes this hotel that bit more special. Wonderful staff everywhere & glorious bartenders made our stay perfect.

Upon arriving, we really enjoyed the exterior of the hotel. Cute plants and nice tiles. Throughout the stay, service for all the front desk staffs are attentive and warm. The overall value of the hotel is WORTH IT, considering all the high taxes in San Fran. In terms of the room, there are improvements that needs to be done in the room such as building a towel rack to hang towels, readjusting the counter above the faucet. The water was splashing everywhere and I couldn't wash my face properly. Overall, the room is neat and clean and hotel is located in convenient location. I would stay here again but improvement is highly recommended for functionality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Room was clean and cleaned daily (did not expect this given the pandemic). The highlight of the stay was the staff. Each person was friendly and engaging. Very helpful whenever we had questions. The location was very convenient to union square or China town and there’s a muni stop right outside the door. Very comfortable bed. In our experience there was some noise from outside the hotel in the early morning.

Visited for 7 days on July 10-17th. Unbeatable location and staff. Bus stop right out the front door, CVS and Starbucks on the corner and some of the best shopping in the city a block away. Rooms were super clean, perfect for 2 people, very comfortable and quiet. We got fresh towels and linens everyday and the coffee pot makes incredible coffee. Complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning and wine in the afternoon was a great perk. My only wish is that the bar and Restuarant were open. Go away COVID!!!
The staff was absolutely AMAZING!! Very accommodating, knowledgable and super nice. From the moment we walked in they all made us feel so welcome. Janelle is a absolute sweetheart. We loved having late night conversations with her about our adventures of the day. I miss this place already. To all the staff, thank you for a amazing experience!! Keep up the good work and hope to see you all again in the near future. Thank you, thank you, thank you from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Meh. Positives: friendly staff, elevator available, clean/new/modern rooms and hotel. Expect nothing less from the brand. Negatives: location (Union Sq is grimey and the hotel is next to an underpass so quite dodgy at night, the underpass also makes drop off and pick up from Ubers annoying), room light (limited sunlight as room faced a brick wall), Daft sink layout (tiny sink with a large shelf right above it so no room whatsoever to wash face or brush teeth without spilling water everywhere - possibly the daftest set up I’ve experienced anywhere). Don’t ge the queen bed it’s too small and frankly the mattress was too soft for our liking. Get a king room if you must stay here. Finally it was our honeymoon and I had specified as such but no effs given by the hotel and staff - not even a cursory wish let alone an upgrade. Overall, splurge and stay elsewhere in SF.

In November 2023, I ended up in San Francisco for an event and chose the Palihotel in San Francisco due to its central location in the city and its closeness to my event. The hotel is truly lovely. The rooms are exactly as depicted in the photos. Clean, with a midcentury modern twist (which I like), comfortable AND actually stocked with a real snake plant! There is no dusty, simulated foliage here folks! Despite the hotel being located on a busy street, I had no issue with noise from the street. I was, however, located on a higher floor (6 I think). While the hotel no longer has its own restaurant, they do offer guests an assortment of pastries on the 2nd floor every morning in the lounge. I didn't find the hotel not having a restaurant to be an issue considering the hotel is in the middle of several restaurants, low to mid range. The lounge was comfortable and is ideal if you are traveling with a group and want to spread out a bit. The front desk was attended to by Donny and Rachel. Both were incredibly accommodating and pointed me in the direction of finding whatever I needed. The housekeeping staff was really responsive and consistently courteous to my requests as well. I really enjoyed my visit to San Francisco and my stay at the Palihotel was definitely a contributing factor to that. I hope to find another reason to be in San Francisco so I can stay at the Palihotel once more. Thank you Donny, Rachel and staff!

Lovely stay at Palihotel. It’s a great location in San Fran, wasn’t far to walk to fisherman’s wharf and other tourist locations in SF. We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel staff were accommodating and have already recommended to friends. The only thing we found was the noise from the street cleaners in the early hours of the morning woke us up on occasion. They provide earplugs in the room which I’m sure if we wore wouldn’t have been a problem.
