Only a couple of blocks up Post Street from Saks on Union Square, this hotel is everything you need for a very reasonable price. Ask for a renovated room on one of the upper floors, great views from some. Breakfast is fresh fruit, pastries and...More
Situated on a Post and Jones streets' corner, just three blocks from Union Square, this old hotel with its stately foyer and large 7th floor room with a kitchenette proved perfect for us, for our five day lay over and re-acquaintance with San Francisco. While...More
Spent 3 nights in this very central location. Excellent access to shops and restaurants. Helpful staff with a delicious breakfast and afternoon cheese and wine between 16.30 and 17.30. Ideal for a short stay.

The hotel does not have AC but it is rare for the city to get so hot that you would need it. Summer in SF is very moderate and you are more likely to use heat than air con, even during the summer months. The hotel is lovely so don't be
discouraged by the lack of air conditioning.
And yes, the hotel has elevators.
Pretty safe during the day, but wouldn't risk it at night. Lots of homeless living in the area. We picked up a cab from Fisherman's Wharf and it cost about $10 to get back there. Be sure to ask for a quiet room

"High quiet room at the back was our request which proved fine"
