I would recommend it. It is old, the room was small but it had everything that I needed. The beds were made, clean towels every day and sheets were changed on request. Continental breakfast in the morning and a Happy Hour in the afternoon, always plenty of food.
There were 5 of us who rented two rooms at this hotel. I booked both rooms through a third party site and somehow mine was booked for the wrong days. I had a confirmation with my intended dates and the hotel corrected this immediately. They even upgraded our rooms, which was very nice. Rooms are comfortable, charming and well cared. Like most of San Francisco, the hotels have character and are not luxury boutique hotels, but this was perfect. Sometimes at night, the sirens were a lot to take. We turned on the fan in the closet and this drowned a great deal of noise out. Breakfast is okay, nothing special. There isn't much for celiacs. We went to Dotties which is relatively close and fantastic. Regardless, still a nice touch for most. Location was excellent. At night, be careful walking down Jones Street, which is right beside the hotel. It is just sketchy, but homelessness is a problem in San Francisco, so you have to be aware of that. It was best to walk down Post Street towards Union Square. Staff at hotel recommended great restaurants and were always available to answer any questions. The wine and cheese at night was also a simple, yet lovely thing to offer. Overall, I'd stay here again as I felt it offered the best location and most value for the money when comparing to other hotels nearby.…
Excellent location within walking distance of cable cars, Union Square, China Town. Quirky old style hotel on the listed buildings register with attentive helpful staff, Complimentary wine and cheese aplenty every afternoon from 16:30 is a real novelty with decent red or white wine, cheese selection and biscuits. Hotel can arrange airport transfers and other excursions Great sized room with kitchenette, fridge, microwave and sink. There is not a bar or restaurant in the hotel but there are plenty within a very short walk.
