If you crave a uniquely decorated room that's extremely quiet with a superb bed, Hotel Zelos is for you. If you need quiet, ask for a room on an upper level, facing the neighbouring office building. The front desk staff and bellmen are extremely helpful and courteous. The hotel is right downtown, within walking distance to many sites, including the waterfront. One negative: the quoted rates DO NOT INCLUDE a $29.00/night "facility fee", which is really just an ingenuous way to charge more.

Really enjoyed our 4 night stay. Great location, welcoming staff, very well appointed rooms, stylish hotel overall. So nice to step out of the Union Square area hustle and bustle into this quiet oasis!

This hotel's a mixed bag. The rooms are very nice. It's in a very convenient location, especially for the BART train to the airport - the station is literally round the corner. There were some issues though. We were aware of the "amenities charge" but even so I'm marking it down because of that. We all know it's just a nasty little underhand tactic of making your hotel appear cheaper than it really is in the search results on booking sites. Stop it - just be honest about what a stay at your hotel costs. What irked me is we had to go out of our way to get the 'benefits' this gives you. My partner checked in and didn't get given the welcome gift or local discounts. Furthermore it says you get free tea and coffee but fails to mention this is only until 10am. The staff member I asked about this was surly. Other staff were much better to be fair, especially the porters who helped store and retrieve our luggage after check out. Wasn't impressed with the bar there. The amenities charge gives you $10 credit to spend there so I went for happy hour. There's a poster outside the hotel foyer that said cocktails are $10. When I asked which ones it was, the barman told me that only applied to "well drinks" (house spirits) and mixer. I said that's not a cocktail & the bartender said he was inclined to agree personally but at that establishment they are cocktails. Didn't bother getting a drink in the end, especially as they didn't open the terrace until after happy hour finished so I'd only have been able to drink it inside in the dark.

I stayed at Hotel Zelos during the week of July 5, overall the hotel was fine. Our room did get missed getting cleaned one day and with the "amenity fee" I felt more than an "sorry" would have been appropriate. If it were not for that fee, I would have been fine with just being brought new towels. The hotel was clean and actually really quiet for the location and I think they were sold out during out stay, we could not have been happier about that! The location was not idea for us, but not anything that was the hotel's fault, obviously. If I were to do it over again we would probably have stayed in the Warf

The hotel has a great location within walking distance of many great shops, restaurants, pubs and Union Square. The staff was friendly, the room was nice and clean, the tub was slow to drain one day but was good the next day and wasn't really an issue. I would stay here again.
