Union Square
Originally home to rallies supporting the Union Army in the Civil War, this grand square has become the city's premier shopping and entertainment district containing the largest number of upscale department stores, chic boutiques, art galleries and theaters in the city. It's a large open area where tourists and locals gather, watch cable cars and crowds go by, enjoy a snack, or plan their day of shopping and sightseeing, If feeling the pulsating energy of the city is on your agenda, Union Square is the place to soak it in.

Simply first class. We were offered an upgrade at very reasonable rates which included access to an early evening lounge which served complimentary found and drink. Very well positioned for San Fransisco’s attractions.

This hotel has small but perfectly fine rooms. The hotel is staffed with servers who are so polite and helpful. The concierge helped me get my watch repaired and that really ade a difference. I did not want to use the pool, etc so did not pay the upcharge..do be aware that it costs extra to use the facilities so you know that ahead of time. Also the cute stuffed dog on the bed and that is for sale for 30 is a little maipulative..glad I did not have to deal with this with a small child...I got my room from priceline bid and paid 150 for a sat night in June..very reasonable for an overnight stay and was a good experience..hotel is quiet, clean and very polite..all of which I appreciateed.

If you have need to stay in the downtown area this hotel is absolutely gentile. Freshly updated with appointments that are designed to relax. Lovely and thoughtful interior spaces. Their Anzu Restaurant has wonderful food and even better service. The bed was very comfy. The gym and pool and large outdoor terrace have just been updated and all are very. Great gym equipment in a large space with lots of windows. Nice. the pool is indoors with a glass atrium type room and just relaxing! They have a hot tub in that area as well. The gentile styling and treatment of the Japanese culture are apparent in this hotel and done in a very welcoming way. Enjoy. This is not your same ‘ol same ‘ol.

We loved this hotel for our short anniversary trip. Nice, upscale and good size. Concierge Teresa helped my husband arrange for gorgeous flowers in our room before our arrival and then two free cocktails at the bar for our celebration! Staff have all been very good. Location was perfect for seeing Hamilton at Orpheum Theater and Union Square, we walked to both, although after the show the homeless activity had me wishing we caught an Uber back. Easy BART ride from the airport then short walk to the hotel. Restaurant food very good. I’ll recommend this hotel to friends!

My family and I recently stayed at the Hotel Nikko for a week as I was attending a conference at the Moscone Centre nearby (about 15 minutes easy walk away). The hotel was tastefully decorated and check in was efficient. When the lady at check in found out this was our first visit to San Francisco, she pointed out on a map which areas (Tenderloin) to avoid etc. Pros: 1) We had the Deluxe 2 Queen bed room 2008 on the 20th floor, which afforded really good views of the city towards Union Square. 2) The room decor was modern and pretty, and I liked the soft toy dog they put on the bed (available to purchase if you wish), along with a complimentary Book Of Quotes). 3) The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. 4) They provided a Keurig coffee and tea maker, which was a nice touch. We asked for a water kettle, which they also provided. There was also a safe in the room. 5) Best thing about the hotel was location and its staff. The hotel is literally minutes away from Union Square, multiple cafes/restaurants, shopping centers like Macy's and Market St, with the huge Westfield Shopping Centre. There was a Walgreens supermarket round the corner and the Powell Street cable car terminus was just round the corner. Location couldn't be any better and there is easy access to public transport. 6) Kudos to Hotel Nikko's staff who are always friendly and smiley- nothing seems too difficult and service is always delivered with a warm smile! Thank you! Cons: 1) We had issues with the shower not draining properly (they fixed this very promptly) and the water temperature control in the shower and sink (you get hot water no matter which direction you turn the dial). 2) There was a little fridge with multiple minibar items- be careful not to even lift these items out as you will be automatically charged for doing so. I would have liked it if they left more space in the fridge for guests to use, rather than have the entire fridge being taken up by mini bar items that you cannot even move to make space. 3) Housekeeping was a little hit and miss. There were 3 of us in the room, but there was only 1 bottle each of shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc, which they don't replenish if you leave the half used bottles in the shower. This is why I haven't given the hotel 5 stars. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, thank you! Will return to stay the next time we visit San Francisco.
