If your destination is SFJazz for a fabulous Jazz evening, stay here and park your car, then walk a couple blocks to the SFJazz center. Extremely helpful and personable front desk personnel. Otherwise, know that this hotel has an interesting cast of characters. When you walk out into the three-story courtyard/parking lot you're likely to see a combo of construction... More

The motel is located in 5min walking distance to the civic centre and the Chinese museum, where many buses depart (to the fish market and downtown) Heigh Street, Painted Laidies and Market Street are within walking distance (approx. 25min ea). The location is good and so was the room which offered some shower utilities and even an iron and iron... More

We're delighted that you had such a great initial experience in our hotel, and that you were so happy with our location. Your experience about our service shocked me - our staff is known to be helpful and friendly, so this is very peculiar. We want to assure you that this is not our usual standard of service, and we... The property appearance wasn't great, but that is because they were doing work on the outside of the building. Repainting, etc. There is limited free parking so you do need to be there early to try to get a spot, which we were. Our overall experience at this hotel was wonderful with the exception that we couldn't use the hot... More

This motel was surprisingly well priced for being SOOO close to the museums/opera/theatres of the Civic Center area, as well as nice shopping/dining of Hayes Valley area. The motel is on a quiet residential street, making for a wonderfully quiet night's sleep. Room was basic and clean, check-in and -out is easy. Parking is available but limited and is first-come-first-served.... More

We do have a really great location don't we?! We're happy to hear that everything throughout your recent stay went so smoothly, and that you had a great night's sleep. We think that is obviously the most important experience for any guest to have. We do hope that you make a return visit to San Fransisco, and we look forward... More

I was in San Francisco for a few days but had no need to rent a car and so depended on public transport. This hotel is not directly on a public transport route but near enough to walk to one. Bus, trolley, BART, and the Muni are all within walking distance. The hotel itself offers pleasant rooms with excellent lighting... More

It's a relatively cheap place in San Francisco. The parking is very limited so be prepared that you may need to park along the street. This hotel is at the connecting point between a nice neighborhood and a rough neighborhood. We saw some homeless near this hotel but not too many. So generally if you stay in at night you... More

We are happy that you found us to be a reasonable and convenient place to stay during your recent trip to San Fransisco. We pride ourselves on our staff, so we are delighted that you had such a positive experience with them. Just like many major cities, our city also suffers from homelessness. We assure you however, that our hotel... More

Bed was comfortable. Limited parking was free. Breakfast was included but no hot items. Walking distance to public transit. Ice machine was broken. Exterior painting in progress so looked like it was in poor condition on the outside. I didn't know it when I booked it, but it was a few blocks away from the Tenderloin district (which I found... It is very hard to find a hotel worth staying in in San Francisco for under $150. And to find one that does not charge for parking, almost impossible. Based on our plans, we needed to be in the Hayes Valley area of San Francisco so we selected the Days Inn on Grove Street (for the second time). It is... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
