This is such a difficult review to write, especially when I was mentally preparing a review of the highest accolades.  I selected the Stanyan Park Hotel because it was near UCSF where I was seeing medical specialists. (I neglected to take into consideration San Francisco's famous hills when thinking I could walk to my UCSF appointment, but Uber and Lyft...

We chose the hotel based on proximity to friends we were visiting. It was clean and offered everything as advertised including breakfast. The staff were helpful and the place is unique, both in a quirky sort of way. Our room overlooked the park across a busy street, so we had to use earplugs to sleep. Overall, not bad, but not...

This hotel is located at the eastern end of Golden Gate Park, close to UCSF, USF, Haight Ashbury. Parking is about 1 block down the street in an outdoor public lot, costing $20 a day (a bargain by this city's standards). We experienced friendly staff and nice amenities such as breakfast included, afternoon pastries, and a manager's wine reception in...

We stayed at The Stanyon park for 3 nights. We had a quaint room. by quaint, I mean not very modern. It's cute. 1960s style tub and bathroom with almost no counter, freestanding closet that wasn't deep enough for our clothing, very small drawers, thinnish walls, continental breakfast that was done tastefully, close to the park and to the Haight....

I knew when booked that this was an older hotel but I expected it to at least be maintained and up to date. The rooms had wallpaper no exaggeration from the early 80's. The carpet looks to be at least 30 years old. It was dirty, stained, and even bleached in spots, the mattress was the worst spring mattress I...

I came in to town for one day to visit some friends. Although I was unable to check in early, the clerk took good care of my bags while I went out. My room was waiting when I got back late. Clean room, nice facilities and good internet. A very nice place all around.I will stay here again!

I stay here about 4 x year for business. It is affordable. The location is great. It is near a whole foods. A great coffee shop. Parks for walking and running. A street that gets blocked off for food trucks. And easily walkable to the haight district. They do free breakfast and wine and cheese in the evenings. The hotel...

Simply the best bang for the buck in the San Francisco area. Historic and quaint but very very convenient and affordable considering the location. I will stay here aging on my next trip out to explore this great part of the city.

I loved staying here , I was having tests don at UCSF , and this hotel was close to walk to , nice neighborhood. Small rooms but very comfortable, the hotel lobby was clean and a very friendly staff. It is across the street from GGate park so you will see the local cultures here.

This is a quaint, historic place to stay but our room had no view. It almost looked directly into another room. I'll not sure how about the layout but that was just weird. We didn't bother complaining because we were out a lot. Their heat in the room was confusing. I think some aspects of this hotel (like their HVAC)...

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighborhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighborhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
