It was worst hotel I slept in ..and they charged me twice (hope by mistake) It was stinky and only advantage was that it was close to city center. I do not recommend anybody to spend 60$ for this hotel

The reason i give this place a 4 stars is because its good for the type of hotel i consider this to be. First off all its a hostel people. Not the Grand Palace!. I find this to be a good suitable place for me to have my quick rendezvous. The furnishings are run down a bit but i didn't... More

I traveled to San Francisco by myself last year and stayed here. It was more than affordable, and in an excellent location. The staff was extremely helpful in helping me find my way around. Will definitely be staying here every time I go back!

Pretty run down place. Very thin walls, and not very clean. Plenty of homeless people in the area around the hostel, some of them very loud. Management seemed nice and helpful. Only place I've ever been to, that charged for storing luggage for a few hours ($5 for 1 bag) on checkout day though. You get what you pay for,... More

If homeless people, street drug addicts, urine smells, piles of collected junk on the footpaths and a reasonable location don't put you off, well ?? if having your accommodation boarded up at street level, smashed glass door out front, graffiti, hand painted signs and a buzzer set in a dirty red and yellow door, grimy carpet inside this door, chocolate... The quick and short of this is that if I came back to San Francisco and needed to find a budget place to stay, Europa Hostel would be one of my considerations. I got a single private room. The price was promotional at around $60+. That would be the max I would pay. I saw the same room being advertised... More

I had a reservation there but did not use it. I know the city very well having lived there over 10 years and know very well how nicely SOMA is changing, but this block of 6th Street IS still scary and sketchy. It is not, as JB from San Francisco suggested in a previous review, because there are African-Americans hanging... More

It was a little out of the way but transit was about 15 min walk away. Carlos the owner was super amazing. He was really helpful and answered all our questions. Gave us some pretty awesome ideas on where to go and different spots to eat.

Starting with Carlos who gave us a warm welcome, this was better than I thought it would be. Though the shower and toilets are shared, one would still have privacy. The room was comfortable and clean. I felt safe inside the hotel as the doors locked and one needed to use a key or be buzzed in. Parking is not... More

It is NOT a scary neighborhood, the crime rate here is extremely low, actually. But, I'm so sorry, there are BLACK PEOPLE. So, if that scares you, be careful. I've never felt unsafe and I'm whitey Mc. Whitey with dark blond hair. And gay. It's clean enough! The TVs need to be replaced with flat screens. And some news channels... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
