Me and my wife stayed at the hotel august 20 and august 21, 2017. The hotel is very central, close to the beginning of the famous touristic san francisco city train. There are nice pubs, bars and restaurants around. The hotel has elevator and the...More
Nice simple hotel but would not stay here alone or with another female. Super dodgy area right out the front with lots of people on drugs or something. Safe inside because you have to buzz to get in, so that’s not an issue. Got lots...More

The Winsor Hotel is in a nicely located area; right on 5th and Market Street, minutes away from Powell St BART, walking distance to Union Square, Moscone Centre, and Westfield Mall. If you love bargain shopping, there's Marshalls, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Nordstrom Rack, Ross...More
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized
streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
Sorry for not helping with a solution of what to do with the car, I didn't look for any parking place around Winsor. Maybe you can write to them and see if they help you, they were really nice to us during our stay... More

I just want to contribute with the other option you mentioned: stay further to find parking. In our first night in SF we had a rented car and as I knew Winsor had no parking place I booked another hotel only for that night that was stated that they had parking places. The hotel was Kailash, it was not further out, it was actually very well located (at Mission) but it was a terrible experience!! There was noisy all night, people fighting and screaming at the corridors, people using drugs on shared bathrooms, scaring! But what is the most important: they actually had NO parking!! The manager said they could arrange for us a discount at a private parking place a block away. We argued that it was stated at Booking, com they had parking but they said they know it, thats why they offer discount. So, be careful if you go for this option and confirm if the hotel really has a parking place nearby and it is included in the price!
