I love vintage motels and this being the first motel in San Francisco was all I had hoped it would be. Great neon sign and charming streamlined modern style rooms with vintage tile and kitchenettes. Great location by the zoo and beach as well as being affordable. If you prefer chain motels this is not for you. It was like... More

Cute place although the room decor was extremely dated. Friendly staff and good location especially if your kids are at SF State. The water pressure on the 2nd floor was awful and it took about 3 minutes for the water to heat up. There are signs posted not to take showers lasting longer than 5 minutes and I was concerned... You know coming in that this is a vintage motel in the Sunset District close to the ocean, so it is old and windy and cold. You only realize when you get into your room and see the industrial ear plugs next to the bed that a train track runs next to the motel. You will need the ear plugs.... More

Recently I made a reservation for an overnight stay at the only place I now stay in SF. Due to an unlikely confusion, my reservation was cancelled, HOWEVER, Chester was so concerned about the situation that he gave me an upgraded room at the same price and was ever so gracious about it. I love the location near the ocean... More

We wanted to stay close to San Francisco Zoo and found this gem! This motel was inaugurated in the same year as the Golden Gate bridge. It is historical also because it was the first motel in San Francisco. It is very well maintained. The grounds are impeccable. We stayed in a suite with 2 rooms for a family of... More

The first motel in San Francisco. Wonderful period architecture and mature landscaping two blocks from the beach. The rooms have been modernized but the size and features are straight out of the 30s. Try breakfast a few blocks away at Java Beach… Very close to the zoo and public transportation at your doorstep. A great find and a great budget... More

If you need Marriott style, Ocean Park is not for you. It is old world, comfy, thoughtful and the owners take pains to provide the extra touch. We were attending a function at the nearby Irish Cultural Center, and needed an overnight stay. They recommended Ocean Park. And it was good. Rooms small, but a nice kitchen. And comfortable beds.... Sunset District, near the zoo and the beach. Built in 1937, the Ocean Park is easy to find, nicely maintained, and offers free parking. Near bus and streetcar lines, you could arrive without a car or leave your car and see the city. The room wasn't large, and they don't offer breakfast, but the bed was comfortable and they have... The room was extremely clean, small, and quite 'basic' with a big screen TV. It felt like being back in the 50's! You begin your stay when the efficient reception gives you papers filled with information on the motel's history, ,and a great list of all good places to eat around the motel!. You even receive a map! it gives... More

I stayed here on business for a couple of hundred nights in the past year and a half. (Monday through Friday.) So I've tried most of the rooms. The motel was built in 1936. Don't let the age fool you/ It is EXTREEMLY clean No mold at all. Very . well maintained both inside and out. Always fresh paint. The... More
