It's what you might expect from a hostel. Rooms are clean, bed (for me) to soft. Spacious lounge area, small cantina upstairs and bigger one downstairs. The free breakfast is limited in options, would recommend to go out. Biggest downside for me was the showers, although clean they are very low which meant I had to bent to wash my... More

Really nice hostel with friendly staff and good facilities. Value for money. The view from the terrace where breakfast is served is so nice. They also organize plenty of activities you can check. Not far from the city centre.

A nice vibe here. Had a spacious private room with a view (through the trees) of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge. Friendly staff set me up with local restaurant advice (Chestnut Street) away from crowded Fisherman's Wharf, also with a hostel guest discount for bike rental from Blazing Saddles, nearby. Breakfast included, oatmeal, fruit, juice, bagels, toast and coffee appreciated.... More

Thank you kindly for your review of the hostel! How wonderful to hear that you had such a delightful experience while staying with us. Our bathrooms are a work in progress…we have installed privacy dividers in some of them and are on our way to installing them in the rest! Hopefully the next time you visit you will enjoy yourself... If you want a quality sleep never choose this hostel, super noisy, I don't know the customers here they don't sleep at night just keep talking walking. The wall is also very very tiny u can hear everything from outside. There is also a morning event near the hostel every morning 7-8am they will give a speech so you will... More

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I am sorry that the noise level you experienced was too high. Our quiet hours are from 11pm-7am, but guests are still allowed to enter the room as needed, but attempt to not make too much noise. I myself am a light sleeper, so I understand how it can feel when sounds... More

This hostel gathers its lot of good and bad sides. Good sides? The location is great, and the view on the bay beautiful. Free breakfast in the morning, which is appreciated when travelling on a budget. Free luggage storage storage throughout the day, and you can access the bathroom and the communal room. The bad sides: no lockers in the... More

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed so much about staying with us. I apologize that you couldn’t find the locker in your room. Every dorm bed in the hostel has access to a locker, most of them are under the bed and quite large. Hopefully you were able to inquire... More

The location is great, the house is very pretty and the livingroom is nice like the kitchen. However the bathroom was in my opinion dirty, hair everywhere (just after the cleaners left). The room was spacious, but I really hated the mattress. However that's for every person different. The staff wasn't very helpfull or friendly in my opinion. Might be... More

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I am sorry to find out that you found our bathrooms to be dirty. We work very hard to maintain them and I apologize that you did not have a good experience. The housekeepers deep clean them once a day and the front desk staff make frequent checks to ensure that there... More

We slept 2 nights at this hostel. Location is just perfect, gorgeous view of Golden Gate Bridge from hostel cafeteria. Slept in 6 bed room. The bed was not too comfy as it was very soft a squeaky. On other hand the hostel is very clean, bathrooms are fully equipped and there is free wifi in the whole property. Important... More

I stayed here for 3 nights in the 4-bed dorm with my friends Upon arrival, the staff had been very friendly and helpful. They attended to most of our questions with enthusiasm. The room was clean and tidy though not very spacious, and the restroom was also well- cleaned. Waking up to the view outside the building had been a... More

I only stayed for a night before heading home and I think the hostel is great. It looks to be in the old Fort Mason medical building. Outback is a great view of the bay and an easy walk to the wharf. Breakfast was great and it was nice to have a bar attached to the hostel. The beds were... More

Thank you kindly for such a sweet review of our modest home on the hill! You are right, the building used to be a military hospital. The mural we have near the front desk is one of the many remaining elements of the health facility. It is so pleasing to find out that you enjoyed so many aspects of what... More

Drove up from Los Angeles, limited parking assigned a few hundred feet from hostel. Old army base, interesting. Stayed in a 9 person male dorm, cheap. Clean nice atmosphere, good socializing, nice view of the bay and Alcatraz. Close to Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Warf, cable cars. Use Uber, Lyft and buses for further travel, cheaper than parking.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
