We’ve stayed here before but this time several things went wrong. There was a cold draft coming from the window, the pillows gave me a terrible neck pain, they forgot to notify us when the room was ready and then forgot to bring up our luggage until we asked again. To be fair they did give us a couple of drink tickets good for a house wine or beer at the Blue Mermaid. We’ll probably try staying here again to see if this time was a fluke but I’m not sure I would recommend it to a friend.
I stayed at The Argonaut Hotel with my 16 yo granddaughter, her friend, and my 70 to friend. We were in a corner bay view one bedroom suite. We had two rollaway beds, a king bed, and a sofa bed. We had a view of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the park area in front of Ghirardelli Square. The location was perfect for exploring Fisherman’s Wharf, getting sundaes at Ghirardelli’s, and boarding the cable cars. I highly recommend The Argonaut and would stay here again.
Great location, spacious rooms and friendly staff! Definitely recommend staying at this hotel! Blue Mermaid food was delicious! Their breakfasts are the best! I enjoy my stay and I look forward to coming back!
The third floor corner suite we had was perfectly suited for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Surprisingly quiet and extremely comfortable with plenty of living space plus a dining table for breakfast in the morning. Location was great for an evening walk around Fisherman's Wharf and an ideal jumping off point to head over to Presidio and the Golden Gate Bridge.
My wife and I came to San Francisco for our 15th anniversary. I chose the Argonaut mainly because of location and the view appeal from the website. We were not disappointed! The bay view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge from our room was incredible! Not to mention, the location is close to everything. This is the only place to stay while in SF in my opinion
Great place to stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful, comfortable hotel located in the old cannery building. Location is perfect for all activities near Fisherman’s Wharf. We went on excursions, visited the Wharf, went to Ghirardelli square and took the cable cars. All within walking distance.
We stayed for 4 nights at the Argonaut Hotel in a bay view King room. The room was on the 3rd floor in the middle of the building on the side facing the bay. The one window in the room had a decent view of the Golden Gate Bridge, which was nice to see in the mornings. The window opened and it was nice to get fresh air, but there was also air con and heat when needed. The bed was comfortable and the room had a sitting couch and swivel TV to see from the couch or from the bed. There was also a desk and chair, mini fridge, closet, electric safe, and 2 drawers and a shelf under the TV. Iron and board in closet, and hairdryer in bathroom. The bathroom had one sink and a shower/tub. The room was fine for our purposes. However, it was very noisy at night outside the hotel (cars, motorcycles, etc.). This was not the hotel’s fault. The location was a short walk to pier 39, pier 33 Alcatraz boat, shops, restaurants, Ghirardelli square, and a cable car line right outside. Great location! The only things that would have been nice would have been if there were robes and slippers provided in room, and drinking water. None were included. Also, the bathroom wasn’t as clean as we would like (sink drain, tub). The room carpet was soiled too, and there was no vent working in the bathroom. The adjacent restaurants, Blue Mermaid, was good, and had a nice outdoor patio too. The doormen rarely greeted us in or out. Good historic hotel with nautical theme decor. Despite the few things mentioned, we would stay again.…
The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. You cannot beat the location! We requested a view of Alcatraz and you could not ask for a better view. Just a short walk to Pier 39 and a walk across the street from cable cars and Ghirardelli Square. The only reason I did not provide a higher ranking, was because the shutters allow way too much sunlight to enter the room in the morning.
Great staff, Rooms were clean and spacious. Awesome location. We dived at the restaurant for breakfast which was very good . The doorman was very friendly with recommendations and things to do. Will stay here again !
My husband and I recently stayed here for an anniversary/birthday trip and had such a wonderful time. The area was great but the cable car and street cars stops were such a short walk from the property, that we were able to explore other areas of the city as well (the public transportation system is a breeze but the concierge will help you out if you have any questions)! Special thanks to Steven at check in, Chuck in housekeeping, and Richard and Vuk Y. at the Blue Mermaid for making our trip so memorable!
