Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.

The hostel is located near very interesting places in San Francisco: about 5 minutes walking from China Town, 15 minutes from Union Square and next to the financial district. There is great access to public transport to go around the city and to take the bus that takes you to

Pacific Tradewinds is everything you want in a hostel. It is right in the middle of the vibrant downtown area between tall big-city buildings and the authentic old-time Chinatown. You can catch public transportation to just about anywhere in the city in such a short time. And

An amazing family feel hostel. The staff are all brilliant and make for a warm and welcoming stay. Complimentary noodles, sandwiches, tea and coffee. Good pressure / temperature showers which are cleaned daily. Wicked location too - near Chinatown which has some great eateries

Location, price, quality, yeah, you already know that. But what they don't tell you is the friendly staff and people you will meet there. Usually, a hostel is just a place where you crash for the night, hoping it will be over soon. In this case, though, you wish you could stay

Unfortunately, because we are in an old historic building is has been deemed technically infeasible and financially prohibitive to install an elevator. For guests unable to navigate our stairs we will arrange equivalent accommodation at another hostel. That said, we do have handicap accessible bathroom and dorm room. The bathroom has a roll in heater shower with a hand sprayer as well as wheelchair accessible toilet and sink. Contrary to the statement made by travglobT, the stairs are possible for some people in a wheelchair. We have found there are some people in wheelchairs who are very strong and can navigate stairs, especially because we have handrails on both sides of the stairs. In addition, the ADA bathroom works well for people having other disabilities, such as prosthetic legs. If anyone has questions about our accessibility features, we encourage them to contact the manager in advance of their arrival.

Do you have separate male female dorms or are they all mixed?
Hi Pragati, I recognize your name so I know we have already answered this question for you personally, however I will answer it again here for the benefit of other readers. As a small hostel, it's necessary that all our rooms are mixed dormitories. This works for our small community of friends who have only recently met and male/female travelers who are traveling together (sharing shampoo bottles etc.) If the mixed dorm arrangement is a concern for you, please ask and we will try to put you with mostly female dorm if that's possible. See you soon! Darren

Hey Lauren. As we are right in downtown San Francisco, we do not offer parking. There are parking garages 1 block away for $28/24 hours. Alternatively, we know of some first come, first served free street parking across the city. You can then take a 25 minute bus ride back. There is also some street parking in front of the hostel, but only from 7pm-7am during the week, and limited on the weekends. If you are renting a car for SF, we highly recommend NOT to. There is plenty of public transit here. if you are renting a car for a longer trip and SF is in the middle, then you can choose from the above options. You could also look at returning the car when you get to SF and renting another one after you leave, to your next destination. Hope that helps!
