Stayed in a 4 bed female dorm in October. The hostel was organised excellently, with many private and open spaces, including a theatre, a private study area and large large room. The bathrooms were so big and private, with a shower and toilet in the same room, and in the four days I stayed there I never had to wait...

Nice budget option in an expensive-to-stay city. Friendly service, helpful staff. Clean rooms, bathrooms, and shared areas. Selection of common social spaces. Simple but healthy breakfast included. Free earplugs! Central downtown location close sightseeing activities. Minutes' walk from bus, tourist trolley, and subway. Environmentally friendly. Airport shuttle is available at the neighboring store within the same building. We stayed in...

During the first week of October, my husband went to Dreamforce while I enjoyed exploring the City every day. The hostel was in a perfect location, near Whole Foods, Target, and other shopping, as well as tons of restaurants and things to do. We had an interior room, so noise was minimal. We had bathrooms/showers on either side of us...

Super friendly staff, affordable and reasonably clean. We stayed in the private room with our own bathroom. The hostel let us store our luggage after our check out till 10:00 p.m. Great location but street noise can be bothersome.

I came to stay at HI Downtown as a lone traveller returning to SF on vacation. I needed a base in the city to visit friends and former classmates all over the Bay and HI didn't disappoint. I arrived early evening after a long flight and was welcomed in by knowledgeable and friendly staff at the reception desk. I settled...

Accomodation was ok but not great. Didn't really expect much. Breakfast was pretty plain, would suggest buying your own and cooking it there. Beds were fine, with USB points above along with us plugs and an LED light. Shower was as expected, not powerful but hot. Was very noisy overnight, no way to cool the room except for windows which...

I stayed in a 4 person ensuite room. I had to book in a week prior to arrival after reading bad reviews about the other hostel I was booked into. The staff member on the phone was very helpful and managed to fit me in. The room was modern, with a large locker and a big ensuite. The locker design...

This is a well priced option in an expensive area of San Fran. Hostel has been recently renovated and has a modern, funky feel. Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms clean, shared spaces friendly and included breakfast a real bonus. We stayed in room 224, unfortunately the room was extremely hot, this was unbearable in September...
