Central location, we stopped over here for 2 nights. Both of those nights we struggled to sleep the noise from outside the building was very loud! Overall the hostel was clean and friendly and appeared to have good security. The breakfast was also a bonus, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back.

Lets start with, San Francisco is ridiculously expensive when it comes to accommodation prices. And since all i needed was a centrally located room with a private en-suite this hostel came with the perfect solution and with an unbeatable location just 200m from Union Square. Ok true its not a Hotel and the elevator didnt work so if you have...

Our experience was great in this place. It's very well located, the spaces are big and clean. The room is equiped and comfortable. It's good to know that the staff were always open to help us, so they were very nice people. The breakfast is good too, and you also have the opportunitty to bring your own food. So, I...

Clean and cozy place with free coffee and friendly/helpful staff. Nice kitchen and also rather quiet. Guests were of all ages: 18 to 80. Tipp: At night, avoid following Mason street to Powell station, since it's crowded with homeless people at this time. There are a couple of nice restaurants north from the Downtown hostel.

Stayed here in May for 3 nights - location was perfect for what we wanted - right in the middle of downtown and easy to get to transport to take us wherever we wanted. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were really helpful and the breakfast in the morning was awesome ! Will be back !

This was my first time staying with HI. Excellent all around. I made some good friends and the staff was awesome, Rahel (sp?) in particular. It is centrally located and accessible to anything you need. If I had one suggestion it would be, when you send the reservation confirmation email, include the taxes etc in the total price owed so...

Thanks so much for this stellar review! We try to be super up front about taxes, but since it's only listed as a percentage this can still feel a bit jarring on arrival -- sorry about that! I am so happy to hear that you made friends here -- this is totally aligned with our nonprofit mission goals. And we...

The hostel was very conveniently located. Only 15 to 20mins walk to the Chinatown Gate, 15 to 20mins by bus to Fisherman Wharf. Despite the fact it's in downtown, it was pretty quiet, not much traffic that disturb one sleep. Everything was neat and clean. Breakfast spread on the 2nd floor though a bit cram in space, was very good....

This Hotel is a central place to be. Staff is really helpful and welcoming. This is like a youth hostel. Breakfast is really great ! Room was clean and colored ! The only bad point is the phonic isolation.

Private double with ensuite was good choice alternative to a hotel in downtown San Fran. Friendly and helpful front desk; room spacious; breakfast a wholesome start to the day. Lift wasn't working and we were on 4th floor, so bit of a chore getting up stairs! Good location. Near Union Square. The Pinecrest Diner across the road is great.

We stayed for four nights here. It was clean and comfortable with large rooms. It is old world and quaint, though basic enough. It's been restored or renovated lately enough by the look of it Breakfast was okay but the real selling point is your location a very short walk from Union Square and station. Cablecars run by quite close....
