Very Unsafe neighborhood filled with homeless people and junkies. I didnt want to stay here after seeing how unsafe the area was. I asked the manager for a refund and he rudely declined. Would not recommend staying here even for free.
I did not expect much knowing it is a 2 star hotel. The location is great, walking distance to Union Square, downtown restaurants and bars. Staff really friendly. I booked a standard room and the one we got dit did not look like a standard room on their website. It was somewhat clean, the room I mean. It was really hot on days we visited so we were trying to open the window only to find out the screen was broken. The window was also broken and really dirty. The ceiling fan worked but was shaking. Rooms dont have ACs. So that was really hard to sleep in a room that felt like a sauna! Overall, nice staff, great location.....but needs repairs!!!
Having read the reviews I was slightly apprehensive about this place. It is true to say that it an old and very tired building but I was warmly greeted at reception. It was indeed very basic but for what you pay compared to other hotels it was no more than expected. My room was comfortable and clean and I was quite happy with my stay. It is a little noisy and you can hear people in adjoining rooms and when guests pass in the corridor but it wasn’t really a big problem for me. All in all the staff are friendly and helpful but please don’t expect to pay budget prices and expect a 5 star accommodation.
The Mthila hotel is certainly not fancy: there's no gym, no air conditioning, no breakfast, and no business center. It's rather old, in fact. However, it delivers hotel basics at what is for San Francisco, a fair price. Refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker were in the room, and the location is reasonably accessible to the rest of the city, including a gym, grocery store, and number of basic restaurants within a block. Oh, and the staff was quite friendly and helpful. I may stay again, as long as the weather doesn't require air conditioning.
The room was comfortable, but the windows need washing… even if there’s no view. The personnel was very helpful. Great service! The hotel is well located. There are several restaurants within walking distance.
Clean, quiet, room attended to daily... Close to a lot of things in easy walking distance. Great little market next door for all your needs. Noor, at reception, was really friendly and accommodating. Overall, great experience.
Location and kind staff - yes!! Sleep: none! Hotel is old so people next and above you will keep you awake if they talk or walk! Def wouldn't stay if you want to sleep Bathroom is dirty (I kind of was postponing my first shower ) and heating is central so if you are cold but centralised heating doesn't start for another 3-4hrs you will be cold (happened to me) No wardrobe and space is basic so for example didn't have a bedside table so book was on the floor or on my feet on the bed No breakfast option
The service during check in and out was slowish but the staff were very friendly. I don’t recommend walking from the train station on Powell street to the hotel with suitcases as there is a few hills to lug your suitcase up. There are also a few rough blocks along Ellis Street that I didn’t feel comfortable taking my suitcase along. Uber is the way to go. The hotel is in a great location, very central. Rooms were clean but very basic. Would highly recommend you book a room with a private bathroom. We didn’t and the bathroom was down a floor and on the other side of the building. This didn’t bother us too much but the shower room is tiny and a little difficult to get dressed etc. From what I gather San Francisco is an expensive city to stay in but will still probably look at spending a little bit more next time to find a nicer place to stay. …
Small average hotel with clean and safe location area. rooms are clean and quiet on court.free coffee at the reception desk.A bit old-fashioned but personnel is ok.10 minutes walk to Union Square or Powell BART station , so convenient if you have to go to the airport quickly.
Hotel is quite good for stay , good location and quality price ratio is ok Hotel is littlebit old but i think it's not a proplem, morning's hear little construction work sound, but for me no disturbing.
