When I arrived to MMC from the airport, I unfortunately had felt pretty sick. I got tested for COVID and was unfortunately positive, so had to isolate in my hotel room for 5 full days. The MMC staff was amazing in taking care of me:

-They were so accommodating when I had to extend my stay.
-They don't do normally room service, but they brought me breakfast every morning from Chesty's right on the time I scheduled with them.
-They brought me extra waters and coffee everyday.
-They were very supportive and emphatic with my situation, and told me repeatedly that they wanted to help as much as they could, and to just let them know if I need anything.
-I had ordered Door Dash for most Lunches and Dinners, and the dasher couldn't navigate to my room most of the time despite me putting my room number on the order. The MMC staff always stepped in and helped the dasher get the food to my room.

Thank you so much to the MMC staff for taking care of me during my isolation there. I really appreciate it!

All and all a very pleasant stay. We arrived at the hotel from SFO just after 11am and they kindly allowed us to check-in to our room at no extra charge. The room itself was very clean, tastefully decorated, and offered nice views of the city. The bathroom however was minuscule compared to a huge walk-in wardrobe. The happy hour offering free drinks between 5pm and 6pm was really good, again offering fantastic views of the city. Breakfast was included in the rate and was very tasty (perhaps not so healthy!). Service from staff was very friendly and efficient. However, I was put of by a middle aged gentleman in the bar during our first night's happy hour visit who looked at us as we arrived from Mars, and a very young gentleman in Concierge who came across as quite rude in his body language and tone.

The hotel's location is fantastic - we walked down to Union Square (<5 min) and caught the cable car (Powell St) down to Fisherman's Wharf. Plenty of good restaurants/ cafes within walking distance of the hotel as well.

Would love to return one day!

I am a longtime member and guest for over 40 years. It just keeps improving with frequent upgrades and updates.
Within walking distance of the swankiest hotels of the city this place has the best prices in town.
A great breakfast with a great view is a highlight as is the happy hour.
Rooms are clean and adequate but not luxurious. Comfortable is the word for most rooms. There tends to be street noise early in the morning and parking is a half block away,
Otherwise it is my favorite lodging in the heart of the city.
The restaurant is also good for traditional American fare.

I stayed here with a good friend while we visited San Francisco - an overnight trip. They have a beautiful lobby and the rooms are quaint and accommodating. The bar and restaurant at the rooftop is worth the price of meals and drinks, if you become a member select happy hour drinks are free. This hotel is conveniently located near other pubs and upscale restaurants. Enjoyed the stay but I recommend trying to find alternative parking arrangements - $44 a night!

Charming hotel withing walking distance of Powell street station and other public transport. Helpful, efficient staff in all areas. Bonus of a lovely restaurant and bar on the 12th floor with views over the rooftops. Very pretty at night especially if you can catch happy hour. Breakfast is buffet style with a good choice of food with the added bonus of a freshly cooked eggs: fried, scrambled or omelette. The Marines memorabilia throughout the hotel marks the hotel out as special interest

We’ve just had a 3 night stay at the Marines Memorial Club and Hotel and were very impressed. The hotel is in a great location to explore the city with public transport links close by. We stayed in room 512, they were spacious and clean rooms with everything you need including a safety deposit box. The bathroom was quite basic and could maybe do with a refurb. The beds are huge and incredibly comfortable. What was an added bonus was the daily happy hour from 4 until 6pm, where hotel guests can have complimentary beer, and selected wine and spirits. We took advantage of this throughout our stay. The breakfast has a good variety and it all tasted good, it was a buffet but they also provide table service. There is a good daily maid service and the WiFi speed worked well also. The staff on front desk were really friendly and on a couple of occasions gave us some smaller currency notes which was so handy. We paid £525 for 3 nights which I feel was very reasonably priced. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this hotel!

Even though the Marines Memorial Club and Hotel discontinued its over-the-top breakfast buffet and temporarily closed its fitness facility due to the COVID 19 pandemic reequirements, it is still a good hotel value. The hotel still provides a complementary plated breakfast with enough variety to satisfy most morning tastes and the spectacular view from its 12th floor dining is still there. The complementary happy hour in the bar is also still there. Most all, many of the excellent staff remain.

We stayed one night in this hotel, we deeply appreciated checking in early, we just wanted to drop the luggage but we are able to have the bedroom at 11 am , which was really appreciated , you can have a free drink from 4 to 6 pm, breakfast was good with lots of different choices and the staff for breakfast was welcoming and doing everything they could to please us.
On the whole, a nice hotel with a different " touch" , I did not see the pool .
Of course, you have to give tips , and it can surprise you when you are not used to!

If I told you that the venue was KEY to the success of a conference, what would you think? This place is the real deal.

Awesome customer service to the organizing team, the guests are so happy, the food was so good and we always felt more like FAMILY than clients.

I cannot recommend this venue more...it meant the difference between our event's success and failure and we are so happy we chose to conduct this event here...after months of planning and so many people coming from around the world, it was a huge hit.

Everyone felt safe, comfortable, well fed and loved. Seriously, this venue ROCKS. Thank you to Miss Milen and her whole team that made the impossible possible..!

A very central hotel 5 minutes walk to Union Square. Breakfast good. Clean rooms. Chesty’s bar and grill is good value. Guests get complementary drinks 4-6pm. Wow.
I wanted to book directly with the Marines Memorial Club (MMC). I’m a member of a military club in London which offered me reciprocal membership. The MMC required a letter of introduction from the Victory Services Club (VSC) in London and proof of membership.
After paying over $600 for 2 nights I checked on booking.com and the same room, same breakfast was $425!
I contacted the hotel again expecting them to honour the rate charged by an online service. They confirmed like for like room and breakfast but declined to offer a lower rate. So I reluctantly cancelled and went with bookin.com.
This is clearly not a club, anyone can walk off the street and book here unlike the VSC.
I often book directly with hotels and generally get a better service and the hotel doesn’t have to pay a commission to online services.
I am aware that the Marines Memorial Club is a registered charity but charging $200 more for the same room and demanding a letter of introduction is just too much.

Also, this hotel offers rooms to non-members as well (with regard to the comment below). These may be limited so book early! It’s a great place to stay.

I can provide no better answer than the one already provided by Lance S. Your own club should have the details of generating the letter of introduction to its associated clubs. My letter arrived by email and so was easy to send on when making the booking at the Marine Memorial.

hours has already been answered, keep in mind there are two happy hours, one is members only and the other is in Chesty's, your question was about the bar but there are two bars....the menu for Chesty's is on the website and it's open to everyone

Hi, yes anyone can stay. It is a great hotel, centrally situated for everything, staff are wonderful, food very good. And of course staying there helps to support the hotel and the US Marine corps. Veterans.
