I was visiting San Francisco to attend a concert of the SFSO and The Inn at the Opera was recommended to me as being convenient. It was that, and much more. The room -- a suite really -- was enormous, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. The complimentary breakfast was just right. Most of all, the staff were friendly, warm, and...

My husband, children and I have stayed at the Inn at the Opera many times and we continue to go back because the hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and extremely helpful. We find having a free breakfast each morning a bonus. The hotel is in a great location for public transportation and there are lots of cafes...

Inn at the Opera has a superb location - nearby public transportation, civic center, city hall, central library, Asian Art Museum, and lots of theatres. The hotel has old-world charm, the rooms are great, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are complimentary, everything you want for a nice vacation. Next to Civic Center and the wonderful Hayes Valley district, the Inn welcomed us with smiles, free breakfasts, and a quiet room. Yes, the armoire was a bit close to the plush bed, but everything else was perfect - including free Internet access. This block of Fulton has little traffic, but walk a block or two and life abounds. Walk...

Thank you for staying and for your comments. We are in the process of moving furniture around and actuall getting rid of some of the armoires (they are a little bulky), and putting in flat screen televisions in all of our rooms. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you again in the future.

The Inn at the Opera is a cozy hotel, offering wonderful service and close proximity to music, plays, museum and other parts of San Francisco. The Inn at the Opera offers free wireless service which actually worked and was free as it stated. Wireless was available in the rooms as well as the cozy intimate receiving areas. Its small size,...

This hotel is really in a great location for a great price if you don't want to be right downtown. It's a fairly quiet street and within decent walking distance of so many attractions. It is also a few blocks to Hayes Valley where there are lots of restaurants and bars and cafes. We traveled with a young couple from...

After I stayed here once, I bought a timeshare week here. It is the Symphony - one bedroom with queen bed and living room with pullout sofa. Both pretty small. Nice large bathroom. More than adequate space for two, pushing it but adequate for four. If you are expecting to spend a lot of time in the hotel in San...

This boutique hotel is one block from the San Francisco Opera. We've stayed here several times. Great breakfasts, superlative staff. Rooms are all suites with complete amenities, including wi-fi. The ambience is wonderful. We felt we were in a small hotel in one of the great cities of Europe.

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
