Excellent location of the hotel, it is an easy walk from Union Square. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is a water refill station on several floors and in the lobby. Breakfast can be ordered separately a la carte and is very good and plentiful. The hotel manager gave us additional recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing opportunities.

A really nice traditional San Francisco hotel in the heart of the city. We stayed at The Orchard for 3 nights and it couldn’t have been better. It’s a short walk to Union Square and the cable car station. There’s even a cable car stop outside the hotel for the return trip. There aren’t any stops for outward journey to Fisherman’s Wharf. The room was spotless and we had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and even gave us a free late check out. Thoroughly recommend

This is a lovely surprise. It’s a clean, delightful convenient hotel. I would recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco. The staff was very helpful and the accommodations were exquisite. The restaurant is beautiful and the service fine. We stayed 2 nights and our friends stayed 4 nights

My aunt and I had enjoyed a wonderful 3 nights stay here in April. We received exceptional service from Collins, Shane and all the hotel staff we met; polite, very helpful and professional. On arrival at 9am we were hoping to have our luggage held until we could check-in at 3pm but Collins confirmed our room was ready which really made our day and we were so excited. When you arrive in the reception area you are greeted by a very clean, bright, warm and welcoming feel and the cleanliness continues on into the lifts, the corridors and the room. Though our room was rear facing and the views were of nothing in particular, it didn't bother us, as we spent a lot of time out exploring and it meant we didn't get any road noise. We had 2 large twin beds and though they're softer than what I am used to, we both slept really well; they were really comfortable and the pillows were so good. The shower is fab - instant hot water when you turn the handle and the pressure was perfect. Again, our bathroom was spotlessly clean. Sustainability, zero waste and reduction in plastics is promoted at the Orchard hotel and one of the 'small but big impact' thing they have is a water refilling station. The Orchard hotel is situated in a fantastic location. The tram (cable car) stop is on the doorstep, China Town 0.2 miles away and also only a short walk from Union Square. I cannot fault The Orchard Hotel or its staff and if I'll be visiting San Fran again, I will definitely stay here, as I highly recommend it. …

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of San Francisco just a 2min walk to union square. Very tidy and also kept very clean. The rooms are of a good standard decor and a very good size, especially for a couple. Great location for union square and the trams " downhill " but remember the hills at the end of a long day to get to your bed lol. Reception staff were superb and were always on hand and willing to assist in any way they could. When you stay here it's definitely an Uber or a tram to Fishermans warf..... especially on day 2 or 3 of your stay. I would 100% recommend this hotel and if I visited again this hotel would definitely be a top contender again.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Orchard Hotel for 8 nights from the end of January to the beginning of February. It was already my 5th or 6th visit to the city. Unfortunately, you have to realise that San Francisco has become incredibly expensive, but the services have not. The Orchard Hotel clearly stands out. When we arrived, we were already addressed by name by hotel director Klaus - chapeau! Great welcome, nice spacious rooms and a really good breakfast. All the staff were super friendly, courteous and always there when you needed them. My conclusion: price-performance is hard to beat and I will be back next year! Thank you Klaus!

We stayed for 6 nights at The Orchard after arriving from Las Vegas and were fortunate to have found such a lovely, quiet hotel. It is very convenient for Union Square. Also a 2 minute walk to Sears for breakfast and the cable car runs at end of the street. Just around the corner is The Last Drop a lovely lively bar that does good food. The rooms while not huge were spacious with a large very comfortable bed. The bathroom was more than adequate and contained more toiletries than our hotel in Vegas. Another nice touch is the complimentary water. The front desk staff were lovely and very helpful. If we come back to San Francisco we would certainly stay here again.

We stayed for three nights. The location is great and convenient to many things, both for good sightseeing and great restaurants. Otherwise our experience was polar opposite to our past visit. They were not responsive when we told them the room (especially the bathroom) was cold. Most disappointing was the lack of hot water. I tried too nights to take a bath but it was only lukewarm . They were having problems with the boiler that lasted our whole stay. When we reported our unhappiness once again as we checked out they didn't seem to care and were very cool towards us (much like the water and heat :).

While I am sorry that you experienced a "perfect storm" of events during your weekend with us--record cold weather between storms hitting San Francisco, coupled with intermittent problems with our hot water equipment--there is never an excuse for "cool" guest service. This hotel was clean, comfortable beds, the staff was friendly, excellent location for everything. A few steps from the trolley and a short walk from several bus stops. We stayed at many different hotels during our trip and this little boutique hotel was our favorite. Would definitely stay here again.
