My partner booked us a twin bed room thinking it was the San Francisco Hostel International. What a mistake! We were given an incredibly squeaky (aka you can't roll over without waking up the whole floor including yourself) single bunk bed with stained mattresses. There was also some kind of unidentified matter smeared across the wall which could have easily... More

During my trip of 4 weeks in the US including 6 hostels, this place was by far the worst (and one of the most expensive)! The place is filthy throughout and has a very unwelcoming smell. We stayed on floor 6, the elevator was like something out of a horror film, getting stuck in it is just a matter of... More

The hostel is filthy. The facilities are horrendous. The lift breaks down on a weekly basis as it can only handle 2 people at the same time, which isn't exactly reassuring. The radiators overheat during the night making it EXTREMELY difficult to sleep. They claim to offer breakfast, however the DIY pancake line is far too long to be in... More

Cannot recommend you to not stay here enough! It was awful. We booked a private room after staying in a hostel in Boston and having a pleasant stay. It was not the same, room was horrible- was small and stuffy and had no furniture other than the bunk beds (which were tiny) and a dirty sink in the corner! We... More

Whenever we go to San Francisco my wife and I try to stay at the midtown hostel. Just a couple blocks from Union Square it's in the heart of the tourist district. Seriously- why pay fancy prices for location when the hostel is across the street? This is an old hotel probably built 1910-1920. Nothing fancy. Staff is super friendly,... More

Myself and my friend had been travelling around California staying in hostels during August and up until this hostel had experienced great service. However, on our first nights stay after a long day of travelling we both couldn't sleep and were in pools of sweat only to realise that there was a scalding heater beside our beds (now why there... The hostel is dirty, the restrooms did not work for one day. Breakfast DIY really bad they only have pancakes but there is a large queue to make your pancakes ( a waste of time). We reserved a private room and they did not respected that they separate us in two different rooms. Only one electrical outlet for 4 persons.... More

This hostel was the worst that we have ever been !!! We got a booking for 3 nights with twin beds instead of that we got bunk beds. The free breakfast is not really one, it's only some pancake dough waiting in a disgusting recipient that you find a clean pan to cook it by yourself. And it's "irst here,... More

What a great place to stay in San Francisco. The room was very clean and well maintained for its age. The staff were friendly and very helpfull. There is a basic free breakfast but there is a huge kitchen where you can cook your own meals. The cafe and bar is a good place to meet others at the end... More

After looking around for where to stay in San Francisco we decided on the San Francisco International Hostel and it was a good decision! Firstly it's in a prime location and we were easily able to get around the city. The hostel itself provides good facilities and staff are super friendly. While staying we had hired bikes and were conscious... More
