I stayed here recently for work while in the Bay Area, and having lived in the city earlier in my life was used to the local scene (and I live in downtown Chicago, so used to it at home). The refurbished hotel is very close to City Hall and the opera & symphony halls, but is

Good beds and WiFi, classic, old fashioned elevator. Self serve Nespresso machine in lobby was awesome. Drawbacks were the location and the size of the room. The area was sketchy but we didn’t feel unsafe. Very helpful staff.

Everything good about the hotel goes off the track due to the dangerous neighborhood. I felt very unsafe, saw people defecating and urinating in the streets and was verbally assaulted each time I walked to the door. There were (no exaggeration) people doing heroine within a

Hi Faye, We were pleased to host you during your stay in San Francisco, and we hope that you enjoyed your trip to the city. It is also good to hear that the hotel itself was good, and we trust that you rested well. We know that the homelessness that is evident throughout the city can be very disconcerting for those who are not used to it, and we are sorry that you found aspects of this to be so off-putting. Please know that whatever distasteful activities you witnessed in the area around our hotel are replicated throughout the city. Thankfully, our guests are never approached by people, and despite appearances, our area is very safe. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your time here more.

I would not stay with my kids. I went by myself and enjoyed the room but the area is horrible. There are homeless yelling right in front of the hotel. You can't walk to your car without being harassed.
