I arrived in San Francisco and stayed for a few days in this Hostel. It is in a good location Chinatown (0.8km)Lombard Street . The rooms are small but well stocked .. down there is a kitchen where you can cook and offer free coffee in the morning, there is also a Laundry, to wash for a fee our garments.wifi free plus a luggage storage when you check out ... I recommend those who do not want to spend so much

Excellent price quality, very well located in the city away from the area do not go of the fentanyl although some you can find loose out there but with not listening to them you go well. Walking you get to the docks in 15 minutes and an uber from there are just 15€ so very well Recommended for all types of stays. Clean rooms and our stay was quiet.

I have stayed at Amsterdam Hostel multiple times and I am always more than satisfied with my stay. Rooms have thick & comfy mattresses and large windows with fresh air. The staff is friendly and they have security 24 hours a day to keep everyone safe in SF. Definitely coming back!

My husband and I stayed two nights at Amsterdam Hostel. We had room 408, double rooms. The bathroom was new, black and white tile look on the floor, square sink very stylish, water pressure sufficient, hot water after about a minute while showering. The bed was good, mattress not sagged, everything clean, NOT musty For 100 euros per room/night a bargain for San Francisco. Would book again immediately although I prefer 5 star hotels if possible but priceless in San Francisco. I can only explain the bad reviews by saying that some rooms are still old, probably the even cheaper ones for four. But that's just a guess. Just book n double room! Have 20 dollars in cash ready for the room card at check in!

Great hostel. The room was very clean with nice decoration. Every bed has its own drawer where you can place your suitcase and luggage with a padlock.
The kitchen and common areas are very nice with good space and a lot of places where you can charge your phone or whatever you need.
Great location, you can walk to different places like union square.

Dirty
The hostel advertises great rooms and cleanliness... I couldn't find that.
The hostel was dirty, it stank horribly and the rooms... I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
I had booked a standard room with a queen-size bed, and this was confirmed. When I finally arrived, the rather slow-witted lady at reception said they didn't have rooms like that, and instead they reserved a bed for me in a very run-down 4-bed room. I left straight away. I really didn't want to catch jaundice! A tip: It's better to have a little more money and book a clean, small city hotel that is clean. This hostel is more reminiscent of accommodation for day laborers and not for travelers from all over the world. Definitely not recommended!!!

When I arrived I thought wow beautiful hostel near everything but the experience changed. I was checked inn and I asked for an extra blanket and the man behind the desk said he didn’t have any extra blanket. I knew I would need one since it was very cold and I was right! At night I froze. I was to stay here for 2 nights and I had to sleep in my jackets to get warm. They don’t clean the bathrooms everyday! It was a room of about 6 men, the bathroom and toilet was horrible stinking. I made friends but I could imagine adding extra days to interact with them more. I felt I might go insane eating because of the horrible stench from the toilet or the cold at night. They need to clean the rooms and empty the dustbin everyday and have extra blankets to change people’s experience

The hostel is extremely affordable. We stayed in a double private room. Everything was prefect. The room was exceptionally clean. The bathroom was lovely and clean too. Even though it is small the space is used efficiently and gives a cosy vibe. The location is also perfect. We were a walking distance to Union Hall, Chinatown, and even Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. The hostel was very close to cable car lines and buses for when you did not feel like walking. The reception was extremely helpful with all our questions! The only bad comment I have about this place is the noise. It can be a little noisy in the corridors with other guests banging doors or talking loudly. The cleaning staff can also be very noisy with cleaning in the mornings. However, this did not affect our sleep too much and was something we could sleep past. Another issue was not having a fridge in the room. There is a shared fridge in the shared kitchen but it would be nice to have a little mini fridge for yourself. Especially as the kitchen closes at 10pm and between 10-11am for cleaning.

I booked in for 2 nights here as a solo female traveller. I had confirmation emails etc. as proof that I had booked a single room - I arrived at the hostel around 6.20pm on a Friday to find I had been placed in a large mixed dorm. The guy on the front desk was polite but totally unhelpful apparently under instruction from his manager. I offered to take any of the female dorms but was told all were sold out. I could not take the bed offered by them in the large mixed dorm, and they offered no like for like alternative. I was told that if i cancelled my stay/didn't check in I would lose my full amount paid as it was outside the cancellation period - they didn't grasp that within the cancellation period I was getting the room I booked, so it wasn't a cancellation on my behalf and was instead them not supplying what was purchased. I wasted so much time here to be offered no help while going through hotels.com customer support - I eventually gave up at 9:30pm when my employer forked out for a bed in another hotel for me. Hotels.com were meant to get a full refund for me, as they failed to uphold their part of the sale, but 2.5 weeks later I've had or heard nothing from the hostel. To pay for something which is totally unavailable, with no budge room and no option for a refund, is a total scam. Do not book here as a solo female traveller as you will not be respected or safe.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment you encountered during your recent stay at our hostel. We fully understand how important it is to have safe and comfortable accommodations, especially for solo female travelers. It is deeply regrettable that we failed to provide you with the room you had booked, and for any misunderstandings that occurred during your interaction with our front desk staff. Because you booked through a third-party site, Hotels.com is responsible for providing you with your refund. Once again, we extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Your feedback helps us improve our services and strive for a better experience for all our guests. Sincerely, Amsterdam Hostel Management

Hello, We don't have parking in our hostel but theirs a parking near by which gives discount to our guest. P.S: In San Francisco you don't find free parking. Secondly street parking is free after 1800 hrs till morning 0600-0700 hrs, depends upon street. Regards, Ankit
