The hotel is in an excellent location. We frequent SF regularly by flying but this time we decided on a last minute trip and used Hotel Tonight app to find a hotel. It lead us to the Chancellor. The hotel, like many in SF, is a renovated boutique in the heart of SF (Union

I recently stayed here while on a business trip to the city. I must admit, I had very low expectations based on the photos on-line. Although the King room was compact, it had a walk-in closet, a desk and small sitting area, and a view of Union Square. This hotel is not fancy,

This hotel ticks all the boxes - great location (really convenient and central to everything), very comfortable bed, very clean, beautifully appointed and great service. Highly recommend! Really nice to stay somewhere that is great quality but not a cookie-cutter chain.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel with clean rooms, and the bed was very comfortable. Located very close to Union Square and walking distance to Chinatown and Westfield. Service was also greeted with a smile and efficient as well. We would definitely consider staying here

Through Parkopedia and in August I booked a space just around the corner on Sutter St, less than 5 minutes walk. I paid $70 for 3 nights which included in and out privileges. Sounds pricey, but this area is expensive. The Chancellor's rates are higher. It is highly unlikely to find on - street parking for long enough to cover a night's stay. Parking garages are probably the best option, and your car will be safe overnight.

It will be chilly as SF is chilly even in Summer outside in the open air so take a warm jumper and something wind/waterproof, hat & gloves. Your rooms should be comfortable as it was not in any way cold whilst I was there, so shouldn't be any different in winter time.

I was there over the Christmas holidays two years ago, and found the temperature at the Chancellor very comfortable. The room was not over-heated, so there was no need to open the window. Each room comes with an overhead fan, so the occupant can also adjust the temperature that way, as well.

"Rooms at the back of course are quieter !"
"Request an upper floor."
"Rooms in front face a busy street. Stay there if you enjoy sounds of the city like we do. Rooms at the rear, I am told, are very quiet."
"Choose back facing rooms for peace and quiet."
"Rooms facing Powell also face Union Square. We loved falling asleep to below street music and sounds."
