Based in a good central location and about 30 - 40 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf. If travelling from the airport, you can take the Bart to Powel Street (€9 one way) and it's a 5 minute walk up the hill. The hotel itself is quite small but has a personality with a lot of history. The staff are friendly... More

This hotel is perfectly location by Union Square, near every type of shopping and a BART station. This is an older hotel that is well preserved and charming. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was more than adequate with a very comfortable bed, refrigerator and other nice amenities. It was easy to close the windows... More

Through the years we have enjoyed our stays at the Chancellor Hotel. On our most recent July,2016 visit, we noticed the hotel has gone through remodeling and have done a superb job. We also tried the suite for the first time; it was superlative and is as nice as, if not better than most high-end, expensive hotels in SF. As... More

We stayed here for 5 nights. The room was compact but well appointed, clean and serviced well. Loved the soap. There was a small restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. Coffee and tea available free all day between the restaurant and bar, also very good cookies but they go quickly. All staff very friendly and efficient. We were going to... More

Absolutely some of the best and friendliest service we have ever had in our travels. These people really make you feel at home. The location is perfect. All forms of public transportation are within a city block (most within half that distance). The hotel itself is very clean. We had breakfast two mornings in the hotel restaurant downstairs. The chilaquiles... More

This is one of the best, if not THE best, hotel deals in expensive San Francisco. The location on Union Square, just steps from the cable car and shopping, can't be beat. Our guestroom was super-clean, with a comfy bed. Loved the choice of pillows, the handy mini-fridge, the BIG closet. AND the adorable Chancellor Hotel rubber ducky! The staff... More

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights in August of 2016. The hotel is located in Union Square, with great places to eat nearby. We took advantage of the Big Bus (hop on, hop off tours) and the pick up point was Union Square - down 1 block and across the street. Check in was a breeze - as... More

A charming hotel. Upon arrival we were able to unload the car, one of us checked in whilst the other parked just a few a minutes away (there is valet parking for that little bit more) but the off site car park takes your car upon entrance and parks it for you. Check in was quick and easy, the rooms... More

This hotel was just as we expected! It's right outside Union Square, with a cable car pick-up right across the street. This is definitely an old San Francisco gem, so if you're looking for modern amenities this isn't the one for you (although they upgraded and included what they could). I'd definitely stay there again.

The hotel is a bit old stile, but everithing was perfectly working. Guys at desk were very kind and ready to assist for everything. It's on the tracks of the famous Cable Car and so close to Union Square. My experience there was absolutely positive.
