I highly recommend this hotel, not only for the location with excellent views, but the customer service was consistently spot on! Bring a good pair of walking shoes, you will need them! Very steep hills in the area if you are planning on walking to your destination. If you are noise sensitive, get a room on the top floor because... More

We arrived feeling tired after an 11 hour flight from uk and were welcomed by James at the door who greeted us both warmly and professionally and we instantly felt at ease. At the reception this first class service continued, and as it was our 30th anniversary we were offered an upgrade to room 704. What a great room, lovely... More

Excellent hotel and well positioned in San Francisco. Very central. Cable car out the front will negate the steep hills. Room was an excellent size and well kept. Decent restaurant attached and also day spa overlooking the city. Staff were very friendly

Visited this hotel for a couple of nights. Location is good for access to Union Square and Fishermans Wharf. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Lovely bar and restaurant, if a little pricy but average for San Francisco. Reception extremely helpful as are all hotel staff. Would def use again.

I will never forget this hotel. Perfection. The bar, the rooms, the spa, the experience. The concierge arranged a limo to take my wife and I on a wine tour I will never forget. I'e traveled the world and stayed in boutique hotels, but this one IS San Fransisco. Cannot rate it highly enough.

beautiful little boutique hotel on top of nob hill, quieter area away from hectic tourist area but easy walking distance to central areas, or just a tram ride from tourist sites. all the staff was extremely friendly, went out of their way to accommodate all requests and very informative. good for business and leisure.

I get the feeling that this hotel used to be better than it is now. It was recommended by Amex as one of its 'program' hotels in San Francisco and the benefits are good - free breakfast and very good upgrade to huge suite. BUT the restaurant is awful. It is so dark that you can hardly see anything (even... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, July 1-3, before flying home to the East Coast after our California adventure. San Francisco was the last 2 nights on our journey. I booked the hotel through the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program which provided for a free upgrade (if available), early check-in, late check-out, complimentary breakfast every... More

This is a first-class hotel with the marble bathrooms and high-end soaps, but it is the service that sets it apart. Every employee will go out of their way to make your stay special, especially the front-desk and bell-staff. Simply wonderful. Tip: Ask for a room in the back, facing South if you want peace and quiet. We slept facing... More

Not many hotels are memorable - the Scarlet Huntington is. An historic building that retains the very best of the past and blends it with modern amenities and excellent service. A charming lobby and delightful bar and restaurant presaged a very spacious, comfortable room with a view over the city. The bathroom even had a magnifying mirror - fantastic! All... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Designed to spark the imagination and provide an adventure for the senses, the much beloved and newly renovated Huntington Hotel re-emerges in May 2014 from a $15 million renovation as The Scarlet Huntington. The Scarlet Huntington builds upon the property's original charm, graciousness and exceptionally high standards while introducing locals and visitors to a unique and avant-garde style that is influenced by a vibrant Singapore Peranakan heritage woven together with the opulence of San Francisco. More than just a name, The Scarlet possesses a distinguished charm and charismatic aura, likened to a gracious hostess who indulges guests with a luxurious stay experience. Providing a warm ad familiar welcome, the iconic red of the former Huntington Hotel's exterior - as displayed in the brick facade and illuminated sign high atop the hotel - will permeate the new aesthetic, representing the hotel's heritage while embracing the passion and allure defined by The Scarlet; offering uninhibited luxury to every guest. ... more   less
