Over spring break, I took my 13 year daughter and her friend to SF. I purchased this hotel on Priceline.com. It was my first time using this website and I was nervous! It gave me the Mark Hopkins for a great rate. I had read reviews about how some front desks snidely remark on making a hotel purchase online but... More

It has been many years since I have stayed at the Mark Hopkins. It still has the charm of a San Francisco landmark hotel. The rooms have been remodeled and upgraded since my last visit. The staff was helpful and efficient. The concierge was great with dinner reservations and event tickets. Our mattress was surprising pretty squishy. We had 2... More

We were in San Francisco for our 5th year wedding anniversary and loved our stay at the Mark Hopkins. All the staff awere very nice & friendly and made us feel very welcome. The checkin experience was one of the best I've ever had. Even though we arrived early, the staff sprung into action and made a room available to... More

There is a nostalgic yet elegant feel to it the hotel once you arrive and walk through the doors. Older decor but still appealing. Ended up getting a really good deal for our rate but got scalped for parking. No parking available within the area. They offer valet parking for $59 per day. Standard rooms were still spacious and offer... More

We only stayed for one night following a 2 week RV road trip around California. Hotel very impressive from outside, not such a wow factor when you walk through the doors though, looks a little tired. Some nice original feature still remain. Check in was quick and easy although perhaps a little matter of fact. Deluxe King room was nice... More

The Mark Hopkins is a San Francisco landmark. I remember going there to soak up the grandeur in the late 1970's. It is still a magnificent property with surprisingly large rooms. This trip I was on a very high floor with amazing city and bay views. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was modern with great water pressure.... More

The Mark Hopkins is an ageing beauty, but perhaps its time for some reconstructive surgery. Upon arrival, you really do get a sense you're staying in a piece of history. The grand entrance and the even grander address (number 1 Nob Hill) is breath taking, and the view over San Fran from our 10th story room was amazing. The lobby,... More

We just returned from a long weekend there. We arrived early and no room was available. They stored our luggage and we went out to see the city. When we returned they had upgraded us to a better room with a wonderful view of the city. The room was large and well appointed but the bathroom was quite small. Service... More

To get to restaraunts, drug store, coffee shop, important sites..anything of good use, you have to turn out of the hotel and go three blocks down a very, very steep hill. So if you are with someone physically changed, you must take a cab everywhere. We had the city pass that included bus rides and cable cars. But after spending... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
