My family stayed one night in San Francisco. As you know, hotels are very expensive there. The Palace hotel is not very expensive, but very luxurious. Location is also nice, so you can easily get to many places.

We visited San Francisco over New Year (29th Dec - 2nd Jan) from England as a surprise birthday gift to my partner, who turned 50 on New Year's Eve. The Palace is fantastically situated - you can get on the BART at San Francisco International Airport and get off at Montgomery St, right outside the hotel, and from there onwards...

My second stay in the Palace while on a business trip. The suites here are particularly nice and one can easily and comfortable host a business meeting there. We also used a conference room - they did a great job preparing and maintaining the rooms. The staff is great; the in-hotel dining options are good and of course you are...

There might be nicer hotels with a better location in SF, but why live in a boring modern hotel when you can live, almost literally in a palace? The Palace Hotel is a truly historic building and the inside looks very palace-like, completely true to its name. The location is great with both the Union Square and the old Ferry...

I just happened across this hotel when searching for a place to stay on a quick weekend down in SF. I didn't even know it was there, only to discover that it's the oldest hotel in the city. It is a beautiful step back in time to walk the wide halls and marble staircases. And the Garden Court has to...

My firm and I were in town for the annual healthcare conference in San Francisco....tons of people are here in SF, so things can get hectic. The team at the Garden Court was amazing handling all of my firms' meals, meetings, requests, etc. over a period of three days. Some staff members that really stood out are Walter and Victor...

We decided to welcome in the New Year in San Francisco. We arrived on December 30th, 2016 and departed on January 8th, 2017, and we had a wonderful stay at the Palace Hotel. The hotel is truly a beautiful historic gem from another era in time. It was festively decorated for the holiday season with lighted Christmas trees, wreathes, and...

From the moment we entered the hotel we were greeted and treated like royalty. The rooms and premises were super clean. Bathroom products were good quality. Bed was comfortable and felt like home. Pool and gym facility were clean and maintained. Gym was specifically well appointed and had several treadmills. The only drawback for me, was that the hotel did...

I stayed here for the first time while on a business trip, when my normal options were booked. Wow, I was truly surprised. The breakfast room with the atrium-like ceiling and latticework is quite possibly the most beautiful breakfast room in any hotel anywhere in the world. (The food was great as well.) The rooms are large, with high ceilings....

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
