Ideally located between Nob Hill and Union Square, Petite Auberge is the perfect boutique hotel for a trip to San Francisco. The Petite Auberge welcomes you to a world of French provincial enchantment. French doors with beveled glass, a collection of French art, a cozy parlor with a crackling fire and afternoon wine and hors-d'oeuvres. Most guestrooms offer fireplaces. We offer a generous breakfast buffet each morning and an evening wine reception. Fresh baked cookies are available each afternoon. Also, check out our sister hotel, White Swan Inn just 20 feet away.

I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. It’s so cute!! We had a perfect corner room on the top floor. We did not here other guests, just noise from the street which was charming. They offer free afternoon wine and appetizers, which was plenty of food. We and another couple were the only ones there. We had a great time. The breakfast is plenty; good bread, yougurt, porridge, quiche etc. I love this place and like to come back!

I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. During our stay in March 2019, one of our luggage items was stolen out of the locker room. My husband has been on a business trip and me and our 11 months old son were accompanying him. His backpack with all his technical working stuff got stolen. The concierge who took care of our luggage was extremely nervous and even tried to first accuse us of not handing over the backpack to begin with. We had to rush to catch our flight back home and the hotel manager promised us that he would take care of everything and that we are going to get everything refunded. He organized a taxi that he promised to be pre-paid, but apparently he did not as we were quite surprised when the taxi driver requested to pay him. Since then the communication with the hotel management was and still is extremely poor, they are not replying to our many requests and we had to discuss it with the hotel’s insurance company ourselves. The insurance company did only cover a part of our missing items and told us the hotel must cover the rest, but we have not heard a single word from the hotel and apparently they are not willing to pay although the locker service was even offered to their guests in their booklet. This has been an extremely time-consuming and nerve-wrecking process and we are highly disappointed by the hotel and its management.

Dear Gretchen Z, We really appreciate your business and thank you for taking the time to review our hotel! I apologize that we failed to meet your expectations and thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your stay with us. The incident was very unfortunate and was immediately reported to SFPD. I was informed that our insurance issue reimbursement and any additional expenses please contact me directly. We've also issued a refund for your taxi to the airport. My team and I take pride in providing a warm and cozy B&B experience and hope you'll consider staying with us again in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly if you wish to discuss this matter in further detail. Warm regards, Bertrand H. Newson General Manager

This is a very cozy, welcoming place to stay. We really enjoyed it and will be back! The staff was awesome and helpful. The wine reception at 5 pm was so welcoming and we got to meet other travelers. The breakfast was delicious! The hotel is in a great location and we got to walk everywhere and felt very safe. I truly recommend this place.

This is nothing fancy, but a nice classic, clean, French-style hotel with small rooms. The reception is in the British-style hotel next door. Decent location. I enjoyed the stay and would stay again. Good for budget travellers.

Good little oasis right where you want it. We wanted a good base for a weekend in SF and the Petit Auberge was it. More of a large B&B than a hotel, to get the right vibe. The location is good, our larger upper floor room was good and the fireplace looked great. The breakfast was good enough with decent coffee and a nice breakfast nook. We took advantage of the “after work” wine on both days, with one of us going to the room and the other staying to mingle with the other guests and sip a bit of the wine. All in all, service was good, and valet parking was excellent with the help of Leon, who went above and beyond what was needed.
