Best small hotel stay in San Francisco. Nice breakfast and happy hour. Close to everything. Walking distance to trolley cars, restaurants, China town. Took the trolley car to Fisherman's Warf and back to the hotel .
The hotel has been there quite awhile and we have been staying there for years. We like it because the location is very convenient and the staff is very helpful. The WiFi works just fine and the downstairs lounge is a nice place to relax and have a free beverage after hiking around the city
We went to San Francisco prior to embarking on a cruise. This was our second stay at Petite Auberge. While there one of us had a medical emergency, necessitating a 911 call and ambulance trip to ER. All of the staff were very concerned and willing to help us in any way they could. Fortunately we returned to the hotel and proceeded on our trip. This little hotel is as close to "home away from home" as we have experienced. Excellent happy hour/hoeur d'oeuvres, and breakfast. The room is comfortable and excellent location for walking SanFrancisco as well as public transportation. I also left my car keys in the hotel and they promptly mailed them to my home when I inquired. We will be back if in SanF again!
A romantic trip for a special celebration was a huge disappointment. Reception lost our luggage, and finally checked in only to find our room still uncleaned after already waiting for over a hour. Breakfast was not as described (lukewarm egg dish and hamburger patties) which didn’t change, served in a room so cold and drafty that I may have well sat outside. I was charged $484 for one night (More than a night at the Fairmont) without any explanation or compensation when the other nights were on average $230/night. Won’t ever stay here again nor recommend it to others. Awful!
I’m writing this review at 4 am because I am wide awake and not happy. I was startled out of my sleep by doors slamming and loud voices that went on for some time-not sure if they were even on this floor! My whole wall shook! This hotel had nice reviews for being “charming” but I guess that’s just a euphemism for cheesy. Next time I’ll stay at a bland chain with a normal bathroom and some real walls. I just really want a room to get some sleep in.
