I had high expectations of this hotel, provided the price and specially the reviews that I had read from other travelers. So yes, it is was a great stay.... but at the same time I was slightly dissappointed.
First the PROS: breakfast was superb, great...More
Very cute room - this is 41 which is a deluxe with fireplace. The hotel is gorgeous, and spotlessly clean. It is also really well situated for everything we wanted to do in San Francisco. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and I LOVED the fireplace...More
Quaint hotel with a warm, inviting atmosphere. A little creaky with petite room and bath, but just right for me and my son. The whole place despite the apparent age didn't smell musty but was clean and comfortable. There was no A/C but Joven immediately...More
It's probably the cheapest hotel you can find near Union Sq. with private bathroom. The rooms are small even by European standards, but they have successfully managed to decorate them in a way that they feel really cozy. Personnel is super friendly and helpful, the...More

What a fabulous find. Excellent little hotel close to the centre of the city. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice big room but don't expect air conditioning, which is not needed in July anyways. Nice touches with free water at any time and free wine...More

Originally home to rallies supporting the Union Army in the Civil War, this grand square has become the city's premier shopping and entertainment district containing the largest number of upscale department stores, chic boutiques, art galleries and theaters in the city. It's a large open area where tourists and locals gather, watch cable cars and crowds go by, enjoy a snack, or plan their day of shopping and
sightseeing, If feeling the pulsating energy of the city is on your agenda, Union Square is the place to soak it in.

My husband and I have been returning to this hotel for over ten years and we always enjoy the breakfast buffet. Each day the hot breakfast is a little different, but includes an egg dish and link or patty sausage or bacon. Boiled eggs are an option every morning as well. Oatmeal is freshly made each morning (not sure what the other reviewer's complaint was...my oatmeal was perfect 4 mornings in a row last week) condiments include brown sugar, syrup, 2 types of jam, butter, yogurt & cottage cheese to compliment the hot cereal. There are two kinds of cold cereal with milk, fresh fruit, a variety of pastries and croissants, and two kinds of sliced bread that you can pop in the toaster. My coffee was PIPING hot every morning, both regular and decaf. There is also a wide variety of tea and piping hot water (which is available 24/7). For a small boutique hotel, I think this all-you-can-eat breakfast is exceptional, and the cozy environment adds the enjoyment. Add to it the afternoon wine social and you've got yourself a great value.
