We booked a last minute room to spend the night in the city and see the reopening of the Bay Lights, the fireworks, and Super Bowl City (the first two events were fantastic-SBC was a corporate bore fest). We found a great rate for a bay view suite, where we were able to entertain friends. The room was comfy and... More

I enjoyed my stay. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly, the room was very clean, up to date, comfortable bed, and surprisingly quiet, and it was opening night for Super Bowl City. I had lunch at Perry's downstairs and it was good too. The location is perfect, just across the street from the bay. I would stay there... More

Location, location, superb staff, and location. Yes, the room is small but it's sufficient. It's on Embarcadero and I don't expect big rooms. It's very well laid out and we've got everything that we need. Cheers to Vanessa for being so cheerful and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the pleasant stay Hotel Griffon.

This is a darling bright spot in a great location. We stayed here January 9th, 2016. The freeway exit is only a couple blocks from the hotel, and the approach to the hotel is uncrowded. we pullfed up in front of the hotel, and the valet took the keys. Voila! Quite different from our usual experience staying in Union Square.... More

I really like this little hotel, located near the water's edge adjacent to the Financial District and the Embarcadero. I can usually find a relatively inexpensive, very nice room (I'm rarely concerned about having a view there, although the view rooms are pleasant). The thoughtful amenities have been covered by others (outlets, room layout, morning Peet's coffee, comfort, the comfortable... More

I love this hotel. It's definitely my new favourite place to stay in SF. I had room 419, which has a great view of the Embarcadero and the Bay Bridge. The room was decked out in a classy, classic style and had great little convenience touches like USB charging in the writing desk and power outlets on the bedside lamps.... More

Checked in, had a great stay - there was an issue with the bill - while it wasn't immediately cleared up... they cleared it up and gave me a call on my cell letting me know what they did. Very unexpected, very mindful. Plus the property was great.

This is a nice little boutique hotel that is conveniently located to the ballpark, UCSF, and surrounding area. It's clean and comfortable. This was my second time staying there and my experience was consistent and pleasant. Steuart St is quiet and easy to get in and out of.

We chose this hotel based on the location and the rate, and were not disappointed. The rooms are a bit small, as others have noted, but they are very efficient and well designed. There is a good built-in stand for suitcases and some hanging items, a desk, 2 nightstands and the super-comfy bed. The sink and counter have been placed... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
