Rooms were a bit small, but well appointed. Robes, nice toiletries, good TV service, and free wi-fi. Bed was very comfortable, and everything was quiet. Even though my room was right next to both the elevator and ice machine, I couldn't hear either from inside the room. Perry's downstairs is a perfectly adequate restaurant for breakfast (might be better for... More

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and it was very nice! Location was great, right on the embarcadero beside the bay bridge. That meant you could walk to many attractions including pier 39, coit tower and the transamerica pyramid. The restaurant downstairs was really nice and great for breakfast. The only downside to the hotel was the size... More

I have been frantically waiting to see if they have been able to locate two valuable necklaces that I left hanging in my room. I called immediately when I realized I left them behind and more than 24 hours later no one can tell me whether or not it is in the lost and found yet. I've emailed the general... More

Dear ldoudsy, Thank you for leaving your recollection of your experience. You did indeed call and e-mail me over the weekend, but you did not receive a response from me, as I happened to be away from the office until Monday. Your valuables had been stored as per procedure and, by the time that we spoke on the phone, promptly... More

We had a great stay at Hotel Griffon. Personally I was expecting tiny rooms but it turned out to be reasonably spacious with and well appointed appointed. The front desk staff was very professional and friendly and the maids we spoke with couldn't have been nicer. The location is very convenient. It's just across the street from the Ferry Building... This hotel is in a perfect spot for the Ferry Building and all the area offers. I read several reviews that said it was noisy-we had no such problem and slept perfectly. We were upgraded to a suite and it was very nice, even had a patio outside on the 5th floor. Just perfect. Would stay here again in a... More

Well, I didn't expect much since the price was reasonable (and super close to the Ferry Building). However, we were pleased with the room. It had a boutique feel to it. It was small and had no view (which we knew beforehand. You can choose a room with a beautiful view for a higher rate), but it was clean, and... More

We arrived at the hotel 9th September, 10.30 pm as we had travelled from LA via the costal route with lots of stops (amazing journey) on arrival we parked outside the hotel, opened the car doors and we heard the most awful language coming from a man who was shouting at a female. This hotel had a bar attached to... More

We booked a basic room for 4 nights visiting San Francisco. The staff were extremely friendly and rooms well equipped. The rooms were small but suffice for 2 people. The location was brilliant for us with it being our first visit and using public transport. Would definitely return if we were back in the area!

After a minor issue with our booking, we were treated extremely well by the staff. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, are very small but well equipped with a comfortable bed. It actually had tea pods as well as coffee. The location is great for tourists depending on public transport. For an expensive city, we were happy with what we paid.

The Griffon is a boutique hotel which means it's got rooms that are a little smaller than the average room, but the value is huge! The staff is wonderful. The rooms are SUPER clean. The beds are so comfy. They are environmentally conscious. The location is phenomenal. I just love this place and really recommend you stay here.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
