I was looking forward to staying at this hotel, but nothing could prepare me for what was the most dingy and depressing room (for a three-star or even two or one star. hotel, for that matter) I have ever stayed at. There was only one small window in the room, which faced a wall and let in very little ambient light. The person at the front desk did almost nothing to relocate me (very unhelpful). There was also no decorations on the room's walls and the bed pillows were very cheap and hard. In short: woefully unacceptable.

Dearest roach999, I am truly heartsick to see that your stay with us was so very underwhelming in all aspects. We so very much want all of our guests to feel utterly treasured the moment they set foot near to our front door and once inside to find our beautiful little Hotel Griffon by the Bayt to be an exceptional option and value as they enjoy our fair City, I am so very sorry that this was not your experience. If you are willing, I am here to serve you and would sincerely like to discuss your experience in detail; if you are willing please to to contact me at your convenience at 415.495.2100. With Kindest Regards, Ann

Hotel's Favorite
My husband and I came here for one night. The hotel is steps away from the pier and many good restaurants. First impressions of the place was the front desk staff is super friendly and the lobby is modern with a cute restaurant inside. We had an executive suite on the 5th floor with a patio. Room was quiet, super spacious, and best of all - the bed was so comfortable. I would recommend Hotel Griffon and will definitely stay here again.

I stayed here while attending a conference at the Moscone center and I would stay here again. Staff was all very nice and helpful, loved the location for morning walks along the embarcadero and the morning views of the Bay! It would be nice if they had a breakfast option, but I found the restaurant and bar lively and fun for dinner and evening. The rooms were manageable size for only a couple nights - not enough square footage for a longer stay. Nice touch that they have coffee available in the morning in the lobby, and nice that they provide access to the YMCA next door for workouts.

The staff was awesome and gave us great restaurant recommendations. You’re close to everything. Jay was very helpful as well. It’s an easy walk to the Ferry Building and a nice walk to Fisherman’s Wharf. Perry’s also has great food so you’ll never go hungry.

We stayed at the hotel on the 3rd of June and honestly the staff could not do more to make you feel at home in San Francisco. The location is excellent really close to the priers and downtown. Secondly when I explained that we had a late flight they gave us a late check out and stored our bags. Most importantly they remembered us from a previous visit. Can’t say enough about this hotel it’s a gem!! Yes it’s an old hotel but get over that it’a part of the charm - lovely staff lovely hotel lovely restaurant Thanks guys see you soon! David &Iwona Special thanks to Jam

You can easily tell this is an older hotel that has not been updated in a while. Maybe the lobby has, but the hallways and rooms smell like my grandmas house. We got a "bay view" room, which has a great view, but the room is so small there's not a place to open the suitcase without lifting it on to the desk. The tiny bathroom is, well...TINY. Also, the air conditioner is definitely older than I am and can't keep up. The bar is the best part, but it's a completely different entity! Disappointed, will not stay here again.

Dearest Rhonda H, Thank you ever so much for staying with us and for sharing your impressions. While I am delighted to read you enjoyed Perry's our busy and bustling bar and restaurant it was with a heavy heart I read how thoroughly displeased you were with the whole of your stay. Clearly, we fell short on providing you with an exceptional experience for this I am deeply sorry. I wish you only best experiences on your future travels. Warmly, Ann

Excellent boutique hotel, very good located. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The beds are good and it’s quiet at night. At the bar and restaurant in the lobby area, good drinks and good food is available for reliable prices. Fisherman‘s wharf is about 20 minutes walking distance. Close by you gotta find some places where you can eat and drink. Buses are leaving right next door. That all comes for a very reliable price. I’ll surely come back. Again thanks for your hospitality and good service.

We checked into Hotel Griffon around 10:30am to be told the elevator was not working. They did put us on the 2nd floor to accommodate the fact that we're not "spring chickens" but it was still difficult to go up and down a few times a day. The elevator wasn't back to working till late morning the next day. The first night I went to turn on the heat and that was broken too. They sent someone up, he looked at it, and said it wasn't an easy fix and wouldn't be fixed for several days. But what was worse than those things was the fact that there is a lack of security. The stairwell to get up to the floors is in the middle of the restaurant attached to the hotel. All doors are left open, meaning the initial door to get into the stairwell and the doors on each floor are open. So anyone can get up to the floors where the rooms are. Usually in that situation those doors are locked and can be opened with room keys. Not here. They compensated us by handing us a $20 gift card to the restaurant WHEN WE CHECKED OUT! Which is completely manipulative because they know we wouldn't use it. It was actually an insult. It's a cute hotel in a great area but I won't be staying there again.

There is no better place to stay than Hotel Griffon. So convenient to Bart, buss and water front. Walking distance to Giants game and and a train ride away from Oakland Stadium. Rooms are perfect bc you are only there to sleep! Perry's restaurant connected to the hotel is a great place to sit outside and eat dinner and prices are reasonable. We would definitely stay here again.

Just love staying here repeatedly. The staff is chill and attentive. Rooms are immaculate and comfortable from the minute you enter. It’s a short walk to the Ferry Building , and nice longer walks to Oracle Park and Chase Center. And Perry’s is right downstairs.
