Attention to detail is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Hotel Griffon. The Staff are very attentive and personable. We will be staying here again when we return to wonderful San Fran!

In a city full of lights, tons of money and Tesla's there is a small friendly hotel full of smiles, friendly faces and a down to earth bar and restaurant, with a great happy hour. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Everything from the soap to the soft towels are upscale. Bring your iPad they have an app that... More

My wife and I stayed a few nights while in San Fran to celebrate our anniversary. When we checked in, Manny, was great. Very pleasent and welcoming! When he heard that it was our anniversary he made sure that a bottle of wine was waiting for us when we went upstairs to our room. The room was just right for... More

Real estate in SF is very expensive. We get that. But this nice, clean hotel on top of a noisy bar in SF charged almost 400 dollars for a small room, with the sink in the bedroom to save space, and not so many amenities. I imagine that if customers accept to pay these prices, it is their - thus... More

Dear Frame82, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your thoughts of your stay. I found this as an internet special of $159.00 for August. Staff super friendly and helpful-2 men met us as we pulled up from a long trip. Its a small place but well located away from the busy rat race of the city. We walked to AT&T park for a Giants game and it was a nice walk along the... More

I loved this place from the moment I walked in. I had to return a rental car and the staff was extremely helpful with getting us checked in quickly so we could leave our bags, as well as helping us figure out where to go. The location of the hotel was great. We pretty much walked everywhere. The ferry building... More

First time at the hotel Griffon and overall was great. Location to major locations and the bus was very good. Hotel had a great restaurant and bar attached, very convenient. Unfortunately, the elevator was not working when we arrived with luggage and our room was on the 4th floor. We requested assistance, but the bellman was busy so we had... More

My wife and I stayed on one night at the Griffon, in San Francisco for a business lunch near the Moscone Convention Center. The hotels near the convention center were more expensive; I had never stayed down in the Embarcadero area on my many visits to San Francisco and thought it might be a nice change of pace. The hotel... More

The hotel is dated and had a bit of an odor to it. Staff was friendly and we had good service at Perry's (restaurant). The hotel does not have a gym but for $5 you can utilize the Y just 3 doors down. Location is walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
