This place was amazing. We stayed here the night before our cruise and would recommend it to everyone. The front desk was always friendly and helpful. The valet guys were friendly fun and helpful as well. The rooms are super cute and the view from there can be quite beautiful. We will stay here every time we head into the...

HOTEL’S FAVORITE REVIEW
Reviewed April 1, 2017

We stayed at Hotel Griffon for the final four days of a holiday to California to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday. I am so pleased we discovered it. The ambiance reminds me of a small hotel in Europe - beautifully appointed but casual and very very comfortable. The staff were excellent - especially Annette (thank you so much!!) and Julie...

I booked this hotel for the Bay to Breakers race which started just around the corner from this hotel. We stayed in a "Deluxe King Room with City View". It was rather small but suited our needs. It was very clean and modern furnishings. NO refrigerator though. The restaurant has good food but it's pricey. This hotel normally shows for...

Summary: This is a nice hotel property. Very small, many rooms are dark. Uneven floors in places. A little dated. Very well located. Excellent staff. Clean rooms. Things work. Review: Here's the thing about the Hotel Griffon: it is what it says it is. No pretenses. You get what you pay for. I will go there again. You should go...

I have stayed in San Francisco several times but Hotel Griffon is the best place to stay. The location can't be beat. Right off the BART/Muni and cable car line and across the street from the wonderful Ferry Building. It is also quiet at night and much cleaner than the Union square area. The rooms are indeed small but have...

Dear Guest, What a wonderful review. It is certainly appreciated. I am most excited about your Five Star rating and your specific comment "best place to say". Stop by to say hello on your next. See you soon! Scott Ostrander General Manager Hotel Griffon on the Embarcadero

The room was very small and quite dark. The window was frosted and looked out to the adjoining building. The bed was soft, we would have preferred a firmer bed. Location was great for us, close to Chinatown, Embarcadero and AT&T Park.

Friendly staff, well appointed rooms, super comfortable beds. Nice restaurants/bar on premises. Nicely located close to waterfront. Lower-mid range of hotels in San Fran. Great value!!! I would definitely recommend this hotel and certainly stay there again!!

Although it was reported that the rooms were small, it was a shock how tiny they actually are. The carpet smells a bit musty and although I requested a high floor (4th or at least 3rd), I was placed on the 2nd floor which ended up being quite loud apparently from those at the bar a floor below. Although the...

Dear Samantha, I truly appreciate your taking the time to post a review of your perceptions on Trip Advisor on your recent stay. We have various size rooms, some that are extremely spacious and well appointed. Perhaps the hotel's availability did not permit for the booking of such room(s) at the time of reservation. I do hope you will try...

Just checked out after a two night stay for our anniversary and loved this Hotel. The staff beginning with the manager Scott, reception, valet, house keeping, the convenience of Perry's restaurant on site and of course the location and view of the water and Bay Bridge, have us planning our next visit.

We spent the weekend at Hotel Griffon, a small boutique hotel on the Embarcadero. There is much to recommend this hotel, but it does have some drawbacks. The location is fantastic - you can walk to the Ferry Building, the Ballpark, SFMOMA, etc. and there are several good restaurants close by. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, there is...

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
