Stayed in October 2016 pre-cruise. Great location, easy to grab a cab or uber to the wharf, or just walk down the Embarcadero. Safe, boutique. Restaurant inside is a hidden gem, try it when you stay. Will stay again when we return.

We found this hotel by chance and so glad we decided to stay. The restaurant located on the first floor has amazing food and so convenient. We upgraded after our first night to a suite and was not disappointed. So much room for a city known for small spaces! Highly recommend the Hotel as staff were very helpful and the...

Stayed here after our cruise. Check in was fine, staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and clean. The hotel is in a good location for exploring San Francisco. We walked from the cruise terminal to the hotel which is pretty much a straight road along the waterfront, so was nice to walk and it took us...

This was the last night of a week's stay in San Francisco and Napa Valley. My husband and I were celebrating being empty-nesters after raising five wonderful kids - Yahoo! I splurged on our final night being spent at Hotel Griffon. It was SO worth it. We paid a little extra for a room with a view of the waterfront....

We're locals, but after reviewing a lot of hotels from the FiDi to near Van Ness, we decided to go with this one. We stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. This is a cozy hotel in a fabulous location. You're about a 3-minute walk from the Ferry Building where you can easily pick the up the F to go...

* The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is near the beautiful Embarcadero, close to the ballpark, and away from the craziness of Union Square. We were there over the weekend and this part of the city really quiets down since the offices in downtown are all closed. (If you are looking for a wild weekend in...

This was my first visit to San Francisco so I had no idea where to stay but this had received good reviews on Trip Advisor so I chose it. The room was beautiful and I was able to watch my Australian Rules football team play a final on the TV because they have a great satellite package - an unexpected...

The location is great - an easy walk from public transit or the Ferry Building, right near the Financial District and SOMA, with good restaurants nearby and views of the Bay Bridge from some rooms. My room (415) was tiny, but very clean and well-laid out, and since I was traveling alone I didn't need a lot of space. The...

I was a little concerned about booking a room here, but the location and the price were great so I went ahead. Glad I did! Prior reviews expressed complaints about too much noise, small rooms, and no view. We heard no noise, and while the room was small it was very nicely equipped. We did not have a view but...

We stayed for two nights, so that we could attend two Giants night games. We did not want to deal with parking or use our car in SF, so parked at the Pittsburg BART station and rode BART to SF. Then we used public transportation in the city! The hotel is very convenient from BART and for the street car...

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
